Azimut Destroyed by Fire in Pattaya, Thailand

A fourteen meter Azimut flybridge cruiser titled Coco Yacht with two persons onboard went ablaze and eventually was wrecked by fire in Jomtien Beach, Na Jomtien, Pattaya, Thailand on 15:06 hours of Friday 26 April.  The Azimut cruiser is reported to have been just out on sea trial by a captain and technician following repairs, with the flames reported to have started from a failed engine exhaust pipe.  Immediate the response to the flames by Sattahip Water Police and the Pattaya Regional Harbor Office, with rescue teams from the Khet Udomsak Subdistrict Municipality and the Sawangrojanatham Sathan Foundation dispatched under the guidance of the Marine Department who first rescued the two crew, and then battled the fire for thirty minutes. Ultimately the Azimut cruiser was wrecked with its hull just remaining afloat and all its flybridge burned down.  Pattaya Regional Harbor Office summoned the ownership of Coco Yacht and opened an investigation on this fire.

The boat in this fire is an Azimut AZ46 as designed by Stefano Righini for exterior and Carlo Galeazzi for interior, and produced from 1997 to 2003.   The AZ46 came out as a replacement to the Azimut AZ43 QuarantaTre, with the model softly evolving into the 46 Evolution.
