An unattended eleven meter Sea Ray flybridge cruiser burned down to a fire which started when berthed at Birkenhead Marina, Drummoyne in Sydney's inner West harbor. The fire started on 10:06 hours of Saturday morning eleven May with five trucks and eighteen firefighters arriving some minutes later and quickly worked to extinguish the flames, with the fire controlled at 11:00 before relocating the wrecked cruiser to the western side of the marina for complete extinguishment. One marina worker who presented smoke inhalation was treated by paramedics on the scene and has since been given the all clear. An investigation is ongoing to what caused the fire, but other news reported the boat went ablaze as she was being refueled in her berth.
The Sea Ray in this fire is a 36 Sedan Bridge model as produced from 2007 up to 2009. The 36 Sedan Bridge was a bold move from Sea Ray, returning in a time where sub forty foot flybridge boats where nearly inexistent in the market.
