A Cranchi sport cruiser of eight meters in length, had a fire onboard while in its mooring at Msida Creek marina in Malta at around 2100 hours of 26 October. The Maltese Civil Protection and fire fighting squad along with the marina personal of Creek marina immediately moved the sport cruiser to avoid further damage to neighbour boats. Due to the quick response the fire was controlled and avoided the Cranchi sport cruiser from total burning and sinking.
The Cranchi in the accident is a Perla 25 model, produced from 1999 till 2002 and designed by Andreani. The Cranchi Perla 25 came out as a replacement to the Clipper Cruiser and was in 2003 with the addition of an extended bathing platform renamed as Zaffiro 28 and produced till 2009.
