Nine Rescued from Boat Blaze Near Tremiti Italy

Nine boaters were rescued as a classic motor cruiser of eleven meters in length titled m/y Moby Craft under Italian flag went ablaze three nautical miles offshore to the Tremiti islands, on the Italian Adriatic coast on 11:30 morning time of fourteen August.  The nine boaters abandoned the boat on the tender and then called for assistance on the 118 emergency number, with immediate assistance coming from the Guardia Costiera of Tremoli, who were followed by the Italian military.  Eventually the boat was wrecked and sunk, with the boaters being transported to the island of San Domino, the bigger of the four Tremiti islands.  One woman aboard was reported to have had sustained burning injuries from the fire, with the case of the blaze reported to have started from an explosion in the engine room.
The boat in this fire is a Canali G.38 Fast Commuter as produced from 1980 to 1986 to a design by Gianni Canali, an x-powerboat racer and founder of the yard.  The G.38 was also produced in the Cabinato flybridge version.  Canali was a boat builder from Brescia which produced seven models from six to seventeen meters and existed from the mid seventies till mid eighties.
