Bering is a fairly young US builder, who builds Explorer yachts from fifty up to 78 feet. So far the company has launched two models, a prototype, and the 55. The looks are based from the Norwegian fishing boat, with a modern minimal touch. Unlike many competitors in this segment Bering has decided to stick to steel for building its yachts with a declared 3/8 of an inch thickness used for the bottom. The Bering 50 will be the entry level model with a two deck layout and a flybridge. Huge customization is a big factor in any Bering, and the plans presented show four interior choices; of two or three cabins. A huge difference in the interior plans is also a choice where to fit the engine, with a midships, or aft location option for this. Single or twin engine choices are available as is hybrid by Regen Nautic. Cruising speed is 8 knots, which should a good range even with the standard five thousand liters fuel tank, and more so with the ten thousand optional choice.
