Classic Riva Burns Outside Alghero Sardinia

A Riva thirteen meter flybridge cruiser with two persons onboard caught fire and eventually sank, just meters outside of Alghero's harbor entrance, in North West Sardinia on the evening of third July.  The thirteen meter Riva cruiser was apparently entering harbor when it caught fire.  Immediate the response of the Italian Coast Guard and Fire Fighting brigade with two different vessels, but to no avail with the Riva destroyed by the fire and then sinking.  No one was injured in the fire.
The Riva in this accident is a 45 SuperAmerica as designed by Giorgio Barilanand produced from 1977 till 1979.  The Riva 45 SuperAmerica was the second Superamerica evolution following the 42.  The 45 SuperAmerica was the second best selling SuperAmerica following the 42, with some forty plus units sold.  The 45 was replaced by the 48 Superamerica.
