An eighteen meter Riviera motor yacht partly sank when cruising around Garden Island, Perth in the morning of seventeen November after hitting a reef off the coast and damaging its hull. After this the Riviera motor yacht began to take on water, which at some point filled all the aft part and cockpit of the hull. Beside a shock no injuries where reported to the crew in the accident and the Riviera motor yacht was the day after salvaged and taken to a boat yard for repairs.
This Riviera in the accident is a 53 Enclosed Flybridge as designed by Riviera head designer Alex Dowd and produced from 2011 to 2016 in 36 units. The Riviera 53 Enclosed Flybridge evolved into the 57 Enclosed Flybridge in 2016, with a redesigned upper structure and hull extension of thirty centimetres.
