Four boaters were injured as a nine meter sport cruiser collided with the break wall between Edgewater Park and the E. 55th Street Marina, in Cleveland, Ohio on Lake Erie around 21:15 of Saturday 28 September. The boat ended on top of the break wall, with the surrounding waters reported to be in a rough state with waves having an average height of one meter at the time of the collision. The helmsman of the sport cruiser said the break-wall lights were not working on the night, as the Coast Guard reported that he was helming the boat under the influence of alcohol double to that of the legal limit. The twelve meter sport cruiser sustained damage to its hull, and its stern drive running gear.
The boat in this collision is a Monterey 328 Super Sport as produced from 2011 to 2020. The Monterey Super Sport line debuted in 2001 with the first generation 298 Super Sport, a bow rider with a double berth below deck. When released in 2011 the 328 Super Sport was the largest model of the line, with the model replaced by the larger Monterey 378 Super Sport.
