Project: Apreamare Gozzo 45

Following up on the success of the Gozzo 35, the Sorrento shipyard reveals the first designs for the iconic line’s new flagship: Gozzo 45 which will be presented next September at the Cannes boat show. The new Gozzo 45 features a noble soul and elegant lines, superior livability and a fast, stable hull. Apreamare upholds the shipyard’s reputation for world-class build quality and extraordinary attention to detail, a family tradition of hand boatbuilding that has been handed down since 1849. Designed as the other Gozzo models by Marco Casali of Too Design, Cataldo Aprea and the Apreamare Technical Department started from the core of the boat, livability managing to achieve impossible spaces on a 45-footer, even below deck. The distinct aesthetic fully respects the traditional lines of the Sorrentine gozzo, albeit decidedly and wisely updated. The result is a traditional crusier with personality, charm and sober elegance. Tradition, the essence of the brand, is observed and amplified in the new Gozzo 45. Distinctly Mediterranean, this classy cruiser starts from the total absence of steps on deck, in strict adherence to the walkaround philosophy. The open-concept design improves everyday life at sea with comfortable and connected settings: the generous stern platform, two large sunbeds, the cockpit table, which seats eight to ten guests, the bow lounge, the large side decks and the high bulwarks. Below deck as well, the new Gozzo 45 defies expectations with a two-cabin layout, featuring a dinette and two bathrooms, and an optional layout with three cabins and two bathrooms. In both versions, there is close continuity with the outside, favoring space, air and natural light. The naval architecture and hull geometry arise from the long experience of Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design, who has already signed most of the shipyard’s successful projects. The new Gozzo 45 is a boat that, faithful to tradition, combines high performance, stability and seakeeping, as well as great comfort with low roll under way and at anchor. The hull has a variable geometry with a deep V, designed to accommodate traditional shaft line with Cummins 600hp giving up to thirty knots top speed, or Volvo IPS pod drive with 480hp which give speeds up 33 knots.

Project: Sabre 43 Salon Express

The Sabre 43 Express Saloon is a blank-sheet design that remains true to her Down East lobster boat heritage without stinting on modernization and innovation. The new 43 Salon Express will be the first full-network Sabre below 58-feet. As a result, owners can not only check critical functions and control any circuit on the boat from either the helm MFDs or iPad mini but also control the “mode of operation” or “scene” setting the lighting and circuit configuration of the boat with the simple touch of a button. Remote access to these components, as well as GPS monitoring, geofencing, trip logging, and NMEA 2000-based alarms, are available via cell phone through the included Sentinel Telematics feature.  Highlights in the 43 Saloon Express include a spacious salon with two banks of seating over six feet in length and a half-up galley that incorporates all the amenities of a modern kitchen without wasting an inch of precious storage volume. Below deck, a versatile hybrid lounge functions as guest berth, private retreat, or home office, depending on her owners’ needs. The master stateroom features an island berth and numerous storage compartments, all in warm American cherry. Finally, an adaptable utility room beneath the salon sole provides space for various supplemental storage and appliance solutions, including a side-by-side washer and dryer, wine cooler, or storage lockers.  The Sabre 43 Salon Express will be standard powered by twin Volvo 380hp, with optional 440hp and 480hp available.

Project: Back Cove 372

Introducing the updated Back Cove 372.  The Back Cove 37 was launched in 2009 and has enjoyed an eleven-plus-year uninterrupted run resulting in more than two hundred hulls. When the production moulds for the Back Cove 37 finally gave out in 2020 due to boatbuilding wear-and-tear, the design team seized the opportunity to re-examine the 37 with over a decade of owner feedback and recent design advancements in mind. The result was a boat full of fresh details that earned its own designation, enter the newly redesigned Back Cove 372.  The Back Cove 372 is full of fresh details that are tailored to today’s cruising and boating lifestyles, yet it retains the classic character and heart of a proven winner. The highlights include: a more efficient 24V DC electrical system with less copper weight, resulting in both a lighter boat and increased run time on the bow and optional stern thrusters.  Cummins 600hp diesel engine as standard and a Volvo an option. This adjustment is the direct result of owner preference, with more than 95% of Back Cove 37 owners opting for a larger-than-standard engine since 2009.  Black windshield liner and an upholstered helm pod reduce dangerous and distracting glare at the helm. Further updates to the helm pod include new materials for better durability and stain resistance, increased space for navigation electronics.  Fixed-glazed pilothouse windows replace difficult-to-operate sliding windows, offer enhanced sightlines, and are complemented by a center-opening windshield with opening appliances for smoother operation.  A new aft-facing cockpit seat to starboard, complete with a folding armrest and drink holder, paired with a new salon door to port with a bi-fold window to starboard (above the aft-facing seat). A reconfigured head with expanded medicine cabinet, sizeable over-sink mirror, and redesigned shower stall.

New Model: Hylas M49

Hylas Yachts is delighted to announce the delivery of the new M49 cruiser. This is the third motor yacht model built by the family-owned yard famous for sailing yachts. Driven by the tremendous success of the Hylas M44, the M49 was developed to meet the desires of existing owners for a larger model offering more room in the aft lounge, an increased capacity to carry water toys such as kayaks and paddleboards, and enhanced stowage for the dinghy. The M49 is built in collaboration with globally renowned New Zealand yacht builder, Salthouse. The Salthouse family has a tradition dating back over 65 years designing and building the finest quality motor yachts in the Southern Hemisphere. Dean Salthouse has designed the yacht for demanding lifestyle, from the spacious luxurious interior to the practical and secure aft cockpit, delivered with high-quality Hylas finish throughout. The original M44 design from Salthouse, on which the M49 is based, has an enthusiastic following. In New Zealand its applications vary from customs patrol, police patrol, commercial fishing to deep-sea game fishing. It has gained a reputation for strength and integrity that is second to none. The Hylas M49 features a lengthened aft cockpit over the M44 on which it is based, adding over one meter to the LOA. In addition to the performance and handling advantages, the new Hylas M49 offers many options for customization, such as larger guest accommodations, a second head, more extensive interior and exterior storage compartments and lockers, and more. One of the best features afforded by the increase in the aft lounge is the additional entertainment area, which extends between the galley and outside seating area. This space can be customized with additional pull-out refrigerator drawers, wet bar, combination washer, and dryer, or used as extra storage. Also, beneath the sole in the aft lounge is an additional storage locker for fishing gear, dive equipment, or any water toys. The M49 features an airy interior layout, which offers two large accommodation cabins and two heads, Master and day heads. The forward owner’s cabin can be configured with a conventional island double or with five single bunks. The guest cabin position just aft to port comes as standard with a twin berth with infill and a further bunk berth above and outboard, which can be converted to storage space. The large lower deck heads compartment features an electric head as standard, acrylic stone counters, and a dedicated shower cubicle. The forward end of the pilothouse features the helm station to starboard. There is a double helm seat and a large instrument console capable of accommodating twin plotter/radar screens. A stainless steel framed sliding door allows access to the side decks. Opposite the helm station is the dinette featuring a large U-shaped settee and a large dining table, which is height adjustable. An infill to create a daybed or occasionally double berth is included as standard. Aft of the helm station is a further lounge settee followed by cabinetry containing the twin stainless steel drawer fridges and the pull-out pantry. Opposite the pantry is the U-shaped large galley with cooker, microwave, freezer and twin sinks set into the acrylic stone counters. Access to the cockpit is granted via a stainless steel framed sliding door. Ventilation in the pilot house is a notable feature of Hylas Motor Yachts. In addition to the cockpit door and the helm station deck access, there are also two larger sliding ‘sunroof’ deck head hatches, a further sliding window adjacent the dinette and a fantastic opening stainless steel framed window aft the galley which allows the pilot house and cockpit areas to be joined together with no visual interruption. The cockpit consists of an L-shaped settee to port with a height adjustable table, which can be turned into a sunbed or occasional outdoors double berth using the infill supplied as standard. Opposite to starboard is a linear sofa. The extended cockpit in the M49 allows for fitment of a wet-bar, further locker space and “pop up” grill for alfresco dining. The aft end of the cockpit can be opened out to allow a tender to be brought up into the cockpit area, there are also dedicated dinghy tie-down points on the pilothouse roof. At the stern is a large bathing platform area with stainless steel guardrails. For those transiting inland waterways, the antenna mast can be hinged to reduce air draft to just over three meters. Powered by twin Yanmar 370hp diesels, the M49 has proven a fast and seagoing yacht, reaching a maximum speed of 31 knots.
