New Model: Overmarine Mangusta 165 REV

The first unit of the new Overmarine Mangusta 165 REV was launched in Viareggio on 25 July 2022. The name itself, Mangusta 165 REV highlights a revolutionary design and content features this line has introduced compared to the previous Righini designed 165, an extraordinary and hugely successful model itself, as confirmed by the sale of twelve units, eight in the original version and four in the updated E for Evolution series introduced in 2014. Built in composite material at Overmarine Viareggio, the 165 Rev is the second project developed by the shipyard’s engineering, headed by engineer Nicola Onori, and design firm Lobanov following the Mangusta 104 Rev, the first unit of which was delivered last year, and currently going into its fifth hull for delivery in 2025.  Lobanov and Mangusta as the model says present quite a Revolution in the 165 Rev for the curved shearline which hides a master stateroom in the main deck, an unedited feature for all the Viareggio builders Maxiopen line which has revolutionized the segment since the nineties, and has proved a huge success for Mangusta.  The interiors of hull number one of the 165 Rev, have been designed by Overmarine’s technical department architects with the Owner’s team under the coordination of Sales Manager Nicolò Strocco. The Mangusta 165 REV’s aggressive and sporty profile conceals the huge volumes the Owner and his guests can find onboard. A case in point is the magnificent full-beam, 92 sqm master stateroom located on the main deck, featuring large, floor-to-ceiling glazed surfaces flawlessly integrated in the hull. More ceiling high windows can be found in the salon, opening up toward the stern and on the sides, where two large fold-down balconies create a smooth continuum between this room and the outdoor areas. The entire lower deck is dedicated to guests, who will find accommodation in four guest cabins and one VIP suite. At the stern, the aft door opens to reveal a beach club conceived as a fully-equipped lounge area by the sea. The tender garage is located on one side. The huge forward area will allow guests to indulge in pure relaxation, thanks to a sunbathing area, comfy sofas, and an infinity pool that blends into the sea.  The Mangusta 165 REV’s is powered by four MTU 2600hp engines coupled to Kongsberg-Kamewa waterjets to push her to a maximum speed of 34 knots, noiselessly and without the slightest vibrations. Maximum care has also been devoted to consumption, which, speed remaining equal, has been reduced by around 30% against the previous series. The Veem gyroscopic stabilizers operate both at anchor and during navigation, allowing to cruise at ten up to twelve knots in the utmost comfort and at consumptions comparable to those of equally sized displacement vessels. The next Mangusta 165 Rev hull number two is currently under construction for a Summer 2023 delivery.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SP110

Sanlorenzo presents its much waited new SP110, which launched in early Summer with World wide premier at the Cannes 2022 boat show past September. A project of over five years in the making, which was presented officially in renderings for the first time in May 2022 during the Venice boat show.  For its first super sport yacht above 24 meters Sanlorenzo left nothing to chance; with design by Zuccon, technical input by Tilli Antonelli, hull engineering by jet propulsion expert Marco Arnaboldi, and interiors for hull#One by Pierluigi Lissoni.  The new Sanlorenzo SP for Smart Performance 110 wants to rewrite the sport yacht segment, with the innovative vertical loft unbounding the main and lower deck split, and merging it with the aft deck lounge and beach area.  There is something fresh and different about the Sanlorenzo SP110, looking classic yet very modern and at the same time fluid and warm.  For this and the Vertical loft the Sanlorenzo SP110 is the super sport yacht above 24 meters of the year, and probably of the past ten years or so.  Sanlorenzo SP110 super sport yacht rewritten, chapeau!

Project: Centouno Navi 28-meter Forza

Centouno Navi is a new super sport yacht builder founded in 2022 by designer Manuela Lucchesi and naval architect Marco Arnaboldi founder and former owner of AB Yachts, who are here giving details for the first project the 28-meter Forza. A custom build to order yacht, Forza is also a highly technological advanced super sport yacht with clean lines, setting new standards from its eco-friendly construction to high performance naval architecture. But in a 28-meter high-tech and speed is half-a-glass and the Forza also offers a standard four double cabins lower deck layout, with two crew cabins sleeping four forward.  Triple Man 2000hp coupled to MJP jet drives power the Forza up to sixty knots of top speed, and a cruise of fifty knots with a promised 70% efficiency to comparable super sport yachts of similar size is estimated to give a five hundred nautical mile range.  Other innovative details of the Forza will be the windshield, which opens forward for easy access to the fore-deck and better air-circulation inside when at anchor.  The Forza also features extendable side bulk-heads aft which expand the bathing beach platform when at anchor, while an additional private sun-deck is also located on top of the hard-top.  According to Centouno Navi website the Forza is available from 27 to thirty meters, with a project for a bigger 40 m Eterea also being announced.

Project: Otam 90 GTS

Otam present the project for a 90 GTS set to launch in 2024.  Designed by Giuseppe Bagnardi, the 90 GTS is another version of the 80 Record hull as designed by Fabio Buzzi, which has been the successful story of the 80/90 Otam series which keeps on re-writing the manual what a custom boat really is, even though the basic foundations are those of the 80 Record boat, which smashed the Round Italy Venice to Monte Carlo, Monte Carlo to London, and Round Britain records in 2001.  The 90 GTS, if we include the 85 GTS should be the eight hull based on the 80 Record, though rightly so since upwards from the waterline this a total different yacht Otam is calling the 90 hull number one.  The first 90 GTS will mostly serve as a day and chase boat to the owners larger vessels, but Otam is already proposing various variations on the theme above from a soft top version, full or half-height windows, and single or double hull windows for the master stateroom at midships. The first Otam 90 GTS is to be powered by twin MTU 2600hp engines with surface drives propulsion with an estimated over forty knots top speeds estimated.

Project: Sanlorenzo SP110

The news of Sanlorenzo building a sport yacht started to be made in 2019, two years after industry pioneer Tili Antonelli founder of not one but two industry changing brands; Pershing and Wider joined the famous Italian yacht builder.  It was news with some scattered visuals thrown in some videos during public relations meeting in boat shows, and finally just before launching Sanlorenzo is giving us information of this project which is four years in the making.  Coming from the hands of Zuccon Project, the SP110 will be Sanlorenzo sport boat in a long time.  Back in the years Sanlorenzo did make one attempt in a sport sort of yacht with the Della Rolle designed 55 produced from 1986 up to 1991 in six units, an innovative sport yacht with a raised saloon deck and interior helm station, surely inspired by Pisa Akhir 18 launched in 1982. The Sanlorenzo SP110 is a modern version of a sport yacht, and takes some ideas and looks from Sanlorenzo SX sport explorer series, and is to be available in three or four double cabins, with three crew cabins sleeping five.  A feature is the large open aft deck just above sea level, which can transform from a dinette to a sun-pad, and extend further aft with the transform platform.  After this is a with a couple steps down is a saloon lounge beach club area, like Sanlorenzo offers on the SX112, and the sister BlueGame brand.  The Sanlorenzo SP110 has a standard main deck with a separate galley, and a day head, the galley located forward splits the living main deck which offers for the most part about 80% the saloon and dining area, and to forward a helm station which has direct contact to the the three crew cabins located forward.  The Sanlorenzo SP110 is to be powered by triple 2000hp Man with jet propulsion, and is forecasted to reach top speeds up to forty knots.

Project: Van Der Valk 25 m Meteor

Van der Valk is delighted to unveil an exciting conceptual design concept that defies convention and sets a new benchmark in the fast super sport yacht market. The 25-metre Meteor platform has its origins in a custom design created to combine inland water adventures with the ability to also head offshore. The Meteor project came together with the experts at Vripack which after many months of intelligent thinking came with this modern design. An exceptional top speed of above 40 knots is available thanks to triple MTU engines with water jet propulsion. Weight is a critical parameter to achieve such a rapid pace and every aspect of efficiency has been meticulously calculated and engineered. At the same time, the Meteor is far more than a super-safe speed machine. Breaking boldly with the norm, the stern is inspired by the sports car world and largely dispenses with the traditional aft deck. The transom itself serves as a swim platform when opened and combines with the interior space to create a large beach club winter garden. Two three-metre sliding roofs offer the option for sun or shade both here and in the bridge area of the foredeck lounge, all part of a radically different deployment of space that is enhanced by liberal use of glass in the superstructure. This fresh approach continues within the interior thanks to an ergonomic layout that embraces flow of movement and is very pleasing to the eye. The main salon includes a dining area and bar, while the lower deck features two full-beam double suites with bathrooms. Each bed is angled to provide superb views out to sea. Vripack has designed a stunning textual mix of satin and gloss finishes with gunmetal black diamond stitched leathers and blue velvet surfaces. The window frames feature an eggshell-white textile and all materials will be sustainably and Dutch sourced.

Project: Vanquish VQ115 Veloce

Ordered by and developed in tandem with a repeat client, the first VQ115 Veloce will roar along at a blistering fifty plus knots and break records in the process.  Having had huge fun on his current Vanquish, the client was fully aware of Vanquish  capacity for customization. He also loves sparring with Vanquish founder Tom Steentjes, who is famed for his no-nonsense, non-traditional approach.  This first hull for the VQ115 Veloce line is therefore the result of some serious brainstorming sessions about a super sport yacht  that will allow large groups of people to be entertained, enjoy extended stays onboard and tap into a wide range of watersports. While the initial discussions were based on design concepts for a VQ90, the talks soon evolved as the owner added an extra cabin, a dedicated dining area on the lower deck and two garages. The resulting 35-metre super sport yacht has more of everything that makes Vanquish unique in the market while staying totally in tune with the brand DNA.  That also means no compromises in terms of speed, with the installation of the largest engines possible, triple  MTU 2650hp, surface drives propulsion, which will power theVQ115 Veloce to an exceptional speed of fifty plus knots.  She will also quite possibly be the fastest aluminums yacht over thirty meters with normal diesel engines, i.e. non-turbine-driven–built to date.  While all VQs are famously fast, this combination of length and knots posed a challenge that the entire design trajectory revolved around this issue.  Studio Delta in the Netherlands was called in for the naval architecture of a hull that features deflectors in the bottom shell to direct the spray aft. The result is optimal comfort and performance levels and a significant efficiency increase at top speeds.  Exterior designer Guido de Groot and his team had a relatively narrow hull on which to base their design. The engines will be placed in a trapezium shape with the middle engine forward.  Two gyro stabilizers will enable the retention of another typical Vanquish characteristic, genuine comfort at all speeds on this smart synthesis of a race boat and luxury yacht. An impressive range of up to 600 nm will be possible when running on one or two engines, with an extra fuel tank available for cruising at lower speed.  Despite the phenomenal propulsion package, lots of space remains aft for a large tender bay that will house a VQ16. This mighty craft will be launched by a dedicated tender system, while a multifunctional hydraulic platform will ensure easy access to and from the water via a passerelle and swimming ladder. Another tender in the form of a VQ11 water scooter will be housed in a second garage on the starboard side. This area will double as a leisure playground with a live bait tank, paddleboards, sea bobs and other toys. A hydraulic ladder will make diving a breeze.  Outdoor entertainment is a major factor in all areas of the yacht; while this is the norm on every Vanquish, the theme is being literally and figuratively taken to new lengths on the VQ115. The expansive foredeck, for instance, has a large seating area for lounging and dining, plus the option to lift up the sun beds and create a salt water jacuzzi. There is a wealth of relaxation options on the aft deck too while the fly-sport-bridge has a dedicated sunbathing area as well as its own helm station.  The flybridge has been superbly integrated with in a distinctive exterior profile, part of a pure design with clean lines and that sexy, elegant, instantly recognizable Vanquish look. Those sharing space on the water with this powerhouse will certainly be glad of the advance visual notice as the negative bowheads their way.  The interior features a futuristic style to match the exterior design, with a casual groove, emblematic Vanquish details and 45-degree treatments. A smart layout makes optimum use of the enlargeds pace available. The main deck saloon will be fully tailored to the owner’s wishes with movable furniture to allow flexibility of occasion and time of day. Office space is included for when work calls, there is a neat pantry with its own cocktail bar, plus a day-head to keep the lower deck private. Stairs rise to the sport-flybridge above while the aft door opens fully to create a unified space with th eaft deck: matching floors will ensure continuity between the outdoor and indoor spaces.  The lower deck features a more extensive galley and a U-shaped seating/dining area in a country kitchen style. Accommodations include a full-beam master suite, a VIP and a guest cabin, all with their own bathrooms. A dedicated media room includes a large television, a high-end sound system plu stwo Pullmans that bring the potential sleeping capacity to eight. There are also berths for four crew members.  The Vanquish VQ115 Veloce is scheduled for delivery in the fall of 2022 direction the Hamptons.

New Model: Austin Parker Ibiza 85

Austin Parker has launched its largest build to date with the new Ibiza 85 going into the water in the first quarter of 2022.  Previous to the Ibiza 85 the largest Austin Parker to date was the 72 Fly launched in 2010. Designed as all Austin Parker onwards from 2009 by Fulvio de Simoni the Ibiza 85 is a hard top super sport yacht of 27 meters in length of pure sporty lines, with its lengthy fore deck striking a balanced look.  She is sporty as you can get but also offering all the comfort one wants thanks to its fully enclosed hard top.  The Ibiza 85 is also comfortable, safe, and secure thanks to its full walk around deck.  The Austin Parker 85 is also unusual for offering five double guest cabins below, a rare thing even for flybridge yachts of this size, even more so in sporty yachts, this being possible thanks to its seven meters beam, and the use of surface drive propulsion which put the engines further aft.  Hull one of Austin Parker Ibiza 85 is powered by twin Man 2000hp engines with surface drives propulsion giving top speeds up to forty knots.  An option for speed loving owners is also available with triple Man 2000hp which will give top speeds of 48 knots.

Project: Pershing GTX116

During the Miami 2022 boat show Pershing announced the project for the new GTX116 with the first unit currently being under construction.  First announced as the TO project in 2020, Pershing has been very mysterious on this new range saying that it will have models from 24 to forty meters in size, and that it will redefine the super sport yacht segment.  The first TO announced was a 25 meter and then in early 2021 Pershing showed the mould for a 35 meter being prepared. Pershing never showed any complete renders or plans of the TO, with some hype design details as the bow, engine air intakes, and window profiles being displayed and if today you make the puzzle it comes out to be the finally showed GTX116. When the TO was announced I actually thought that with this range Ferretti Group's Pershing might take a challenge to the Sanlorenzo SX series which has proved to be successful for the Italian builder. I was half correct as the Pershing GTX will feature its attention in a redefinition of exterior spaces and a beach deck located in a floating position between the lower and main decks.  The Pershing GTX116 will also have a sport bridge design, with its lower deck accommodation offering five double guest cabins, with an owners stateroom at midships.  Three crew cabin sleeping five or six crew are located forward.  The Pershing GTX116 will be powered by twin Man 1800hp or 2000hp engines with jet propulsion and speeds going up to 35 knots with the large option.  While Pershing is known and famous for surface drives, its good to remember that 1991 launched 70 flagship featured jet propulsion in the first units, and the 115 the flagship from 2004 till 2012 also had a triple jet propulsion.

Project: Castagnola Zattera 24m

The new Zattera 24m that is currently under construction at Castagnola Yacht in Lavagna, Italy began with an idea from Renzo Piano and Olav Selvaag. Nauta Design and Francesco Rogantin gave shape to that idea and Siemens Energy created its propulsion system. Inspired by the dream of being able to live life at sea in spiritual silence and in harmony with the natural environment, Zattera, which in Italian means raft, is more a means for enjoying life at sea than a proper yacht. Built in sustainable yet durable wood, its design is pared down and modern with clean and simple hull lines. Purity and simplicity are the words that best define Zattera’s inspiration. These are achieved through a design that features a raft-like low freeboard and wide beam. The hull’s clean lines are given extra emphasis by a light and transparent glass superstructure that almost seems to float and that allows for direct, unhindered visual contact between Man and Nature. The feeling aboard is one of lightness, being immersed in Nature, flying free. Fundamental aspects of the project were increasing serenity to the maximum and reducing noise pollution to a minimum. A vessel that by philosophical choice is made for enjoying the natural soundscape of the sea, moving slowly in Nature and living immersed in peaceful anchorages has to move silently and with reduced fuel consumption. The idea behind Zattera is following the sound of the sea, sailing slowly: the dimension of serenity and peace at sea. The main choices of the project derive from this idea: first of all its pure and simple look. Zattera is relatively lightweight with a displacement hull that can navigate at up to twelve knots with a ten knot cruising speed. CFD testing allowed for an optimised bow shape with good sternwards flow and reduced resistance. Siemens Energy’s hybrid propulsion system was fundamental in reducing emissions and careful attention was dedicated to eliminating vibration and sound pollution in the surrounding environment. Zattera has lithium-ion batteries and can navigate in silent mode under electric power only. The propulsion system and the craft’s hotel functions run on two 180kW variable RPM diesel generators and a 95kWh battery pack connected to a 700 Volt continuous distribution system. Zattera has a traditional shaft drive run via twin 135kw permanent magnet motors that are directly connected to the shafts without the use of inverters to increase the efficiency of the system, and to further reduce sound and vibration produced by rotation. The diesel generators were purpose-developed by Mase Generators for Siemens Energy with Volvo Penta 300hp motors using variable speed technology with permanent magnet alternators in order to minimize consumption and emissions. The generators are installed on a double anti-vibration pad, an unusual measure that was taken on this vessel and one that underlines its calling to reduce noise pollution. The same care and attention was dedicated to soundproofing the cases that the generators are mounted in and entire engine room. Even the underwater exhaust system is undergoing painstaking soundproofing testing. Solar panels will also be mounted on Zattera to create a zero impact and no cost renewable energy source. All of these systems were purpose created to allow Zattera significant autonomy both while navigating and during use in hotel mode.  The Castagnola shipyard has constructed the hull, the deck and the superstructure in solid wood that have been treated with silica-infused epoxy resin for optimal adherence, and marine grade plywood. The unusual hull shape called for a keel beam and a counter keel in cold-moulded iroko wood that get larger towards the bow. Given the particular shape of the bow all of the wood planking in that area is crafted using five different layers laid cross grain to each other. All frames are in solid ash while hull planks are in marine grade plywood. The deck is in lightweight marine grade okoune, while the interior structural bulkheads are in wood lined with rubber and cork for insulation from vibration and sound.  The interior layout sees the owners and two guest cabins fore with the galley, crew area and the engine room aft. The styling is understated, clean and simple while ceiling heights are generous throughout.  The saloon in the lower deck is directly connected to the coachroof via symmetrical stairs. Natural light floods in from a large skylight placed at the centre of the saloon. The floor is at the same height as the waterline so you feel as if you’re walking on water while inside the boat.  Renzo Piano and Nauta Design have years of experience sailing and are sailors at heart. Aboard Zattera they have incorporated sailboat features such as masts and derricks that will be used to load and unload the tender and to set up awnings fore and aft. While functional, these elements will also recall sailing, an approach to the rapport between man and nature that is close to this team’s hearts.

Rizzardi present the InEight project, a 24 meter super sport yacht flagship, superseding in size the previous CR73 produced from 2003 to 2010.  Till today the CR73 was the largest boat produced by Rizzardi under his name, but not the largest as under Posillipo he did produce super yachts up to 36 meters with the Technema 120 launched in 2008 being the largest build to date.  The InEight presents itself as a purebred fast super sport yacht, with indisputable seaworthiness and set to impress with perfectly matched spaces and performance. Sporty lines are consistent with the unique characteristics of a family which had its start with the Incredible 45 in 2004 and does its next evolutionary step with the the InSix in 2019 and with this InEight sees its dimensional expansion and the addition of a sport-bridge, completely hidden from the side profile. With a  beam of six metres, comfort is absolute, connected by convenient lateral passageways, the platform, garage, and ample cockpit are found at the bow’s exterior. Inside, thanks to large windows and a retractable sliding door, the lounge offers luminosity and depth unique for its class, ensuring maximum safety in any condition. The layout features four cabins with en-suite bathrooms and a crew area that can accommodate up to four people. There are dual internal staircases, one for guests and one for the kitchen and the crew, who access their quarters directly from the galley itself.  The Rizzardi InEight is to be powered by standard twin MTU 2400hp and or optional 2600hp with surface drives.  Estimated top speeds are 45 knots with the standard engines, and fifty knots with the optional.

Project: Tankoa T45 Sportiva

Tankoa T45 Sportiva is a 45 metres super sport yacht.  The aft of T45 Sportiva is all about the relationship with water, the joy of interaction with the sea, the wonder of the open horizon. The bow lounge is embedded in the deck, beneath the eyeline of the wheelhouse. The external line is clean and sinuous. Sleek lines are emphasised all the more on the T45 yacht’s two-deck alternative. The completely open beach platform is the primary connection with the environment. Here, slipping into the sea is effortless. Or the infinity pool is a beautiful place to soak and enjoy spectacular, unforgettable views. When the extendable sides of the beach club fold open, the yacht boasts 100 sq m of open beach club.  On the hybrid-propulsion version, guest rooms connect directly to the spa, which connects directly to the beach terrace.  On the main deck, the dining area, a circular space at the centre of the yacht, can be an interior space or open air. In fact, half the entire deck can be opened to the external environment. T45 Sportiva will weight about 250 tons, and no power or speed choices have been announced.
