New Launch: Feadship 84.20m Hull. 710

Feadships has launched hull #710, an 84.20 meter super yacht designed by RWD and Monk for both exterior and interior, and titled m/y Obsidian. Feadship #710 features surprising destination spaces, such as an asymmetrical atrium staircase leading to a lower deck dining saloon, where an entire wall opens to reveal a terrace view just above sea level. Near the stern is an Aqua Lounge with massive windows below water level. In place of a mooring deck forward there is a revelatory bow observation lounge with double-curved glass floor-to-ceiling windows. Terraced aft decks float without pillars, while glass balustrades allow unobstructed views from both aft deck and fully glazed aft interior spaces, creating a vital connection to the natural environment.  Striving for innovation and first-class engineering, Feadship 710 is the perfect next step on the famous Dutch super yacht path toward building zero-emission superyachts by 2030. It is the first of the new generation of large yachts furthering carbon reduction through hulls optimised at cruising speed instead of top speed, weight control, advancements in electric propulsion, and the ability to run her generators on HVO, a second-generation biodiesel, a so-called net zero CO2 fuel. Sea trials and delivery fill where all made with HVO, reducing total CO2 emissions by about 90%. Hull 710 made full use of Feadship’s Advanced Electrical Drive program for diesel-electric hybrid power, and has 4.5 times more electrical storage capacity than the first hybrid yacht, the famous Savannah hull number. 686. Feadship #710 has also no drive shafts, and no rudders with an electric drive and steering provided by a pair of electric Veth contra-rotating thrusters. Feadship and Veth collaborated on computational fluid dynamics analysis of the drive legs and propellors’ shapes to maximize efficiency and minimize vibration.  Providing energy for the luxury hotel load accounts for much of a yacht’s fuel consumption, for Feadship 710, the engineering team took a deep dive into capturing waste heat from the custom variable speed generators and air conditioner chiller to supply heat to the AC system, pool water, domestic water, and engine preheating, while an innovative heat pump system allows the yacht to draw heat from seawater.

Project: Ferretti Custom Line Navetta 38

During the Monaco yacht show, Ferretti Group presented the project for the new Custom Line Navetta 38.  A replacement for the Navetta 37 which debuted in 2016 and has sold in fifteen units, the Custom Line Navetta 38 is the latest made-to-measure yacht in the brand’s displacement line, with the first unit under construction at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, for a 2024 launch. The Ferretti Custom Line Navetta 38 will featured a volume displacement under 300 GT, and comes from a design of Filippo Salvetti for exterior and interior by ACPV Architects of Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, with the Piero Ferrari led Ferretti Group Engineering Department managing the naval architecture and product development. Extraordinary combinations of elegance and liveability, timeless classicism and harmony with the marine environment, direct contact with the sea and seamless continuity between interiors and exteriors are the features that present the Custom Line Navetta 38. This superyacht was in fact designed to maximise the usage of all available space on the four decks, with a large master suite of over forty squared meters on the main deck and completely separated crew and guest flows to ensure maximum privacy. The stern area is an innovative feature on board Custom Line Navetta 38 and a completely new take on the full-beam beach deck concept. The beach club and main deck cockpit, together covering over 70 squared meters are totally open and furnished with a system of freestanding modular units, thus creating a more extensive, generous and multi-functional area at the water’s edge that embodies the flush deck concept. The new beach club is a versatile space with the sea-facing couch enjoying  panoramic views, while the spacious swim platform provides direct access to the water which extends with two opening gunwales to extend the space. The beach club’s rational and functional layout means that this space is extremely practical and easy to use, a further accent on the concept of continuity and openness between yacht and open sea is the all-glass construction of the parapets in the main deck cockpit and the forward part of the sundeck. With a total surface area of 70 square metres and 15 metres in length, the extended sun deck becomes an extraordinary space in which to socialise and relax, complete with a spectacular sea-view jacuzzi aft with sun cushions, a sun lounge area forward and an open-air dining area under the shelter of a painted hard top. The entire area is surrounded by expansive glazing that offers a magnificent 180-degree view. The exteriors are characterised by a timelessly classic design language that features simple, harmonious lines expressing absolute luxury with elegance and refinement.  The key word for the Custom Line Navetta 38 is flexibility designed to enhance the experience offered by its interior spaces. The interior design is focused on maximum use of space through optimum control of all the volumes and functional exploitation of the entire available surface area. Another strong focus was on natural light, with extensive full-height windows creating powerful continuity between external and internal spaces and a feeling of harmony with the marine environment. The interior design is developed around a concept based on refined detailing and the use of fine materials with natural textures, including various types of leather and also linen and parchment, chosen both for the finishing's and the upholstery and coverings. The custom-designed furnishings are skilfully handcrafted by the shipyard’s expert personnel, a triumph of style made possible by the collaboration with ACPV Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, who have revisited the stylistic features of maritime tradition, from the concept to the colour palette through a contemporary lens, highlighting the union between the yacht and the furnishings, the later custom designed and made to measure from natural leather and wood using sophisticated handcrafting techniques. The two architects has created an exclusive décor solutions based on two different moods: the more contemporary “cold mood” that plays with the cool hues of sky and navy blue, and the more classic and timeless “warm mood”, which features a warmer and cosier palette. Underscoring the possibility for owners to customise the yacht’s interiors, one of the brand’s signature features, the first Custom Line Navetta 38 will have a more neutral mood that further emphasises the bond with nature through natural, muted and neutral colours such as beige and ivory. In addition to the master suite, Custom Line Navetta 38 has four guest cabins on the lower deck, accommodating a total of ten people and seven crew members in four cabins, including the captain. Ideal for covering long distances with low fuel consumption and to enjoy category- beating performance, the  Custom Line Navetta 38 is standard powered by twin Man 1400hp for a top speed up to fifteen knots, with a range of about 2,800 nautical miles at an economy cruising speed of ten knots. Custom Live Navetta is also be Selective Catalytic Reduction ready and installing the system brings a 70% reduction in NOx emissions and IMO3 compatible.

New Model: Sanlorenzo SX100

Sanlorenzo has during the Cannes Yachting Festival debuted its new SX100, the fourth and second in size model of its successful SX range which debuted in 2017 with the SX88.  Since then the Sanlorenzo SX model has been on a spiralling unstoppable success, and is surely one of the best selling in the four semi-production lines from the Italian yacht builder.  Designed by Zuccon who is responsible for all Sanlorenzo yacht models since some years, the SX100 is a smaller sized near copy of the SX112 flagship which debuted in the fall of 2020, and since then has sold thirteen units.  Like the four meters bigger sister the SX100 features opening side bulkheads terraces aft increasing the deck space and extending the beach area, while also integrating this with the low level lounge. Inside the Sanlorenzo SX100 offers a four double cabins arrangement, with an owners stateroom located on the forward part of the main deck.  There is also an option where the low level saloon can be specified as a master stateroom with direct connection to the beach club area.  Probably with this option one can also specify five cabins in the SX100 if one had to also opt the fore deck suite.  The Sanlorenzo SX100 is powered by quadruple Volvo 800hp with IPS pod drives for top speeds up to 23 knots, a cruise of twenty, and a ten knots long range which give a 1600 nautical miles range.

Project: Benetti Class 44m

Benetti present the project for the new Class 44m, a new fibreglass flagship in its semi-production Class range of super yachts which today starts at 37 meters, but in the past has seen smaller sizes of 28 meters. The Class 44m is also a replacement to the Diamond 145 produced from 2020 to 2023 in eight units. Benetti says the new Class 44m is a transparent yacht with the elimination of all barriers between indoors and outdoors and every detail designed to have the least possible impact. The interior design and exterior styling are by Giorgio Maria Cassetta, who presented a yacht with clean, pared-down lines. The new Benetti Class 44M is targeted at expert owners who want to make the most of the precious asset that is free time. The on-board living experience on the new Class 44M is about the innovative use of materials and finishing's conveying a sensation of informality and naturalness that changes the way spaces are perceived. The shipyard has achieved this result through the extensive use of sustainable materials such as FSC-certified wood, sourced from forests managed according to the strictest environmental standards and also thanks to the endless transparent surfaces that let light flood into all the decks. The Benetti Class 44M is designed for long, safe cruises around the world, lasting weeks or months, thanks to the perfection of the layouts and flow paths, as well as to generous stowage capacity and meticulous functional research into every detail. An absolutely unique yacht, with uncluttered lines that more than timeless are beyond time. Class 44M has four decks that can be customised to match owners’ tastes, and the star of the show, as always, is natural light. The forward section of the Main Deck is home to the full-beam master stateroom, which includes an office space, a generous wardrobe and a bathroom. Still on the main deck, the galley area and head are amidships, while the spectacular, spacious lounge offers direct views of the water thanks to the low-profile bulwarks. In addition to the helm station and captain’s cabin, the Upper Deck offers the owner and guests a large interior living space that extends outdoors towards the stern and can accommodate a dining table for ten. The Sun Deck provides over 102 square metres of space for dining, sunbathing or simply sipping a drink at the bar and can, of course, be configured according to the owner’s preferences. The Lower Deck contains four double guest cabins and, separated from them, the crew quarters. Specially studied crew flow paths run the entire length of all four decks. The water’s edge beach club is an independent and versatile space with a striking design, while the generously sized garage on the port side ensures problem-free launch and recovery of the tender and water toys. There was a sharp focus during the design process on the highest standards of soundproofing and in this respect Class 44M ranks at the top of the category. In order to minimise vibrations and maximise soundproofing, floating floors and bulkheads are used throughout, along with flexible transmission couplings based on state-of-the-art technology. The air-conditioning and purification system ensures high-efficiency air circulation with six changes per hour. In the engine room, the Benetti Class 44M is equipped with two MAN units rated 1400hp delivering a top speed of fifteen knots and a range of 4,100 nautical miles at a cruising speed of eleven.

New Launch: Heesen 60m YN 19959

Heesen presents the fully custom YN 19959, titled Project SkyFall during construction phase and now christened as m/y Ultra G. Heesen says 19959 was inspired by two luxury sportfishing yachts built in the nineties which occupy a special place in the Dutch fleet, the 38 meter m/y Obsessions YN 10137 launched in 1996 which was then overtaken by the meter larger sister Red Sapphire in 1999 yn 10638. Heesen YN 19959 is the ultimate expression of the knowledge and experience gained in over forty years of shipbuilding to the finest Dutch quality standards. Despite its phenomenal top speed, there is no shortage of luxury on board this exceptional 60 metre super sport yacht. The layout in this 60 meter Heesen is conceived to welcome friends aboard for sociable fishing adventures while allowing the master apartment to maintain a necessary level of privacy, peace and quiet on the bridge deck with its private terrace. A jacuzzi, a large walk-in wardrobe and an ample bathroom with a central oval bath and separate shower stall provide all the home comforts. Entertaining family and friends is the raison d’être of all social areas, indoors and out. A custom wine fridge, with discrete sections at different temperatures, takes pride of place in the main saloon. The media room, home to a Samsung The Wall screen 1814mm by 8063mm and an elegant games table on the main deck forward, is undoubtedly the pièce de résistance. The sundeck, with its infinity pool facing aft, is ideal for receptions and musical entertainments. Canine guests are well taken care of too, thanks to a series of carefully thought-out details to make their life at sea as safe and stress-free as possible. Among several features, the most notable is certainly the 'relief area', a self-flushing area of the side deck finished in synthetic grass, complete with sensors, cameras and sprinklers. Heesen YN 19959 has thirteen crew beds to take care of ten guests, with discreet separate routing allowing them to seamlessly service every area of the yacht. Heesen YN 19959 presents an ultra-technological and sophisticated propulsion system with 22,000 horsepower generated by four MTU engines, driving four Kongsberg waterjets. The outer engines, compliant with the latest Tier III environmental regulations, drive steerable jets, while the centre engines operate fixed booster units. With less back-pressure and a slightly higher power output, the centre engines will be used solely for the highest speeds. Waterjet drives lower the yacht's draft to less than three metres and reduce vibration by 40 per cent compared with traditional shafts and propellers. Thanks to its lightweight aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form, complete with course fins, gyro stabilisers and interceptor trim plates, Heesen yard number 19959 has an extraordinary top speed of 37 knots in light load conditions. Her efficient FDHF hull will also deliver a much smoother, flatter ride compared to a conventional semi-displacement shape, while its extra volume offers plenty of space for equipment and amenities. Three gyro-stabilisers will keep the yacht comfortable at low speeds.

Project: Sunseeker 120 Yacht

During the 2023 Monaco Yacht show, Sunseeker unveiled the project for a new 120 Yacht model.  Considering the success Sunseeker had over the thirty meters size from 2000 onwards when it launched the 105 Yacht, and since then selling 147 yachts in fourteen models the Poole builder has been rather quiet in its one hundred feet plus Super Yacht range in recent years, that is excluding the 100 Yacht which launched in 2022.  The 120 Yacht project looks to be an evolution of the 116 Yacht, which Sunseeker debuted in 2016 and has sold in 24 units. Apart sharing hull dimensions and similar looks, the 120 Yacht though is rather revolutionized, and the further up you go in the more different it is to the 116, with glazing being extended and a new hard top with a forward looking inclination. The 120 Yacht has also been redesigned with an option as the rendering above shows to have a splash pool on the foredeck, while the transom area will feature opening gull wing doors which extend the bathing platform to a beach area with spaces which will include a day head with shower, and more space for waterside enjoyment.  The Sunseeker 120 Yacht will offer accommodation for ten guest suites including a very customisable owners stateroom forward of the main deck, while crew space is for six in three rooms forward of the lower deck.  The Sunseeker 120 Yacht is to be powered by twin MTU 2600hp for top speeds up to twenty knots, and a 1700 nautical miles range at ten knots.

New Launch: Abeking and Rasmussen 118.20m hull#6507

Abeking and Rasmussen, the renowned ship and super yacht builder founded in 1907, proudly announces the launch of their latest masterpiece, the majestic superyacht 118.20 meters in length hull number 6507 titled m/y LivaO. This iconic super-giga yacht boasts a sleek black hull that stands as a symbol of sophistication and elegance on the water. The design of the exterior and interior was entrusted to the incredibly passionate experts at Joseph Dirand Architecture from with their precise imagination they created a true icon. It was a huge challenge for the German shipyard to implement all technical necessities to be as invisible as possible in order to strictly follow the challenging aesthetic design intent. Abeking and Rasmussen 6597 employs a sophisticated diesel-electric propulsion system designed for exceptionally quiet operation during navigation and manoeuvring. This innovative approach incorporates two 2200 kW electric propulsion motors, expertly manufactured by Ramme Electric Machines Germany, backed up by a steady supply of electrical power from two 2240 kW Caterpillar main generators and three 599 kW Caterpillar auxiliary generators. To further enhance its propulsion capabilities and onboard comfort, the yacht features an array of advanced components. Four Voith thrusters lend their power to the yacht's manoeuvrability, along with four stabilizer fins from SKF play a pivotal role in comfortable experience for passengers and crew alike. This comprehensive blend of cutting-edge technology culminates in a propulsion and comfort system that ensures efficiency, silence, and seamless operation. Abeking and Rasmussen new super yacht flagship presented its fair share of challenges, and the most notable was the construction of a tender garage on the lower deck fitting a sixteen-meter day tender. The second tender garage on the main deck forward accommodates not only three splendid boats, but also a Triton Submersible for up to seven guests and a variety of water toys, bicycles and dive equipment enhancing the yacht's recreational offerings. The exterior design, thoughtfully crafted to maintain the vessel's elegant black silhouette, boasts a unique approach. Instead of traditional anchor pockets, the yacht incorporates underwater anchors on the keel. This ingenious design not only adds to the vessel's allure but also enhances its efficiency and manoeuvrability. Further standout features include a Neptune Lounge offering an unparalleled underwater view through a massive four squared meters underwater window. Guests can marvel at the breath-taking world below sea level while enjoying the luxurious comfort of the lounge. Another dedicated haven for relaxation on main deck is the mobile 48 square meters pool, its floor capable of being elevated to the upper level and adorned with liquid marble, creating an illusion reminiscent of the sea's surface when raised, while the pool walls and surroundings are also luxuriously enveloped in marble. The crow's nest, positioned at the foot of the mast, promises an exceptional observation experience, giving the Owner and his family a privileged vantage point to soak in the surrounding beauty. Also, an exquisitely arranged large marble-clad fireplace complemented by a generous round sofa on the forward sundeck offers a warm and inviting ambiance for relaxation and social gatherings. Furthermore, the yacht features a fully certified helicopter pad on the sky deck, catering to the owner's discerning taste and providing easy access to remote locations.

New Model: Ferretti InFynito 90

Since 1991 and the Buzzi designed sixty knots plus fast 48 High Performance, Ferretti has seldom went out of its comfort zone of offering something beside a flybridge yacht.  Yes we had the 2005 presented Altura range, which had an innovative Mediterrean way use of the aft-cabin debuting with the 690 and then followed with the larger 840 in 2008, but these where very much a Ferretti flybridge with a different location for the master room.  The InFynito 90 is on the other hand a different Ferretti to all that came before her, offering exploring looks in a pocket super yacht 26 meter size, and a semi displacement hull which cruises peacefully in mid-tens speed.  Designed by Filippo Salvetti, the creator of Ferretti Yacht's since 2018, the InFynito 90 is innovative in its design and use of space, offering one hundred square meters of exterior spaces, and 140 sqm of interiors.  The extra space is important here, but the stand-out feature in the InFynito 90 is its foredeck, which offers a covered outdoor space with 270 degrees views, yet in a protected environment. The InFynito 90 is also semi-custom build, offering a variety of choices from the main deck offered with two galley options and for a master stateroom option forward, to the lower deck available in four cabins as standard, or the fourth cabin replaced by a multi-purpose room.  Other options are available for the exterior, with a central sun-pad option replacing the standard free aft deck space, and the fore-deck area available in a splash-pool with wrapped around settee, or an L-shaped settee in replacement to the standard L-shaped lounger.  The Ferretti InFynito 90 is powered by standard Man 1550hp or twin 1800hp engines for speeds up to 22 knots from the the large option, and a sweet cruise in the mid tens.

New Launch: Feadship 118m Hull. 1010

Feadship has in the end of 2022 launched its hull number 1010, its largest build to date, surpassing the 2018 launched 110 meter motor yacht Anna, hull number 1007 by eight meters.  Feadship hull number 1010 is designed by Espen Oino for exterior with interiors by Francois Zurretti, and naval architecture by Feadship engineering arm De Voogt.  A unique feature of 1010 is the curved glass for an observation area on the top deck. Largest Feadship to date, although not for long as hull 821 to be launched in 2024 is to be seventy centimetres longer.  Hull number 1010 had to be titled Katyusha, a name which suggests a Russian ownership although we have no confirmation about this.  Still half year after its completion hull. 1010 has not been delivered yet, renamed to NB1010 and since completing her sea trials in October 2022 has not moved from Harlingen in the Netherlands.

New Model: Fleming 85

In December 2020 Fleming announced the project for a new flagship, the 85 model.  Its been three years, an investment in a new facility in Taiwan and finally the Fleming 85, Tony Fleming first super yacht has seen the water, with three units already launched this 2023 year, and fourth in final phases of construction.  As you can see the Fleming 85 has started with a bang; seven hulls sold on plan is a huge success for a conservative explorer yacht builder.  The Fleming 85 comes standard with a lot of stuff, from solar power and Lithuim battery power reserve source for generator less self sufficiency, but future owners do get to choose; from a three or four double cabins interior layout, to a hard top, or a fully enclosed bridge a first for a Fleming with 85 number three being made this way, and an extended up and down bathing platform aft. The Fleming 85 is powered by twin Man 1550hp engines with line shaft propulsion, for speeds up to 25 knots, and ten or longer range eight knots cruise.

Project: Apreamare Maestro 88

Apreamare reveals preview images for a new full-custom semi-planning super yacht destined to change the way to experience the sea: surprising volumes, timeless elegance, and superior quality of life on board, united by that sense of safety and reliability that has always distinguished the Maestro line, now masterfully reinterpreted by the Casali-Tagliavini duo. Great projects, like stories, can arise by chance, from the passionate and joyful intuitions of its protagonists, so it is in art or science, as in boating as well. This is the case for the Maestro line by Apreamare, which traces its origins to a restaurant in Genoa during the 2005 Boat Show, when the first sketches were drawn on a piece of paper. The fervent and creative mind of Cataldo Aprea conceived a motor-yacht to navigate with a modern live aboard comfort, with great style. The success of the Maestro line, the 82 sold ten units in a production run which lasted ten years from 2008 to 2020 has inspired a new challenge for the Sorrento-based shipyard, addressed to architect Marco Casali and Umberto Tagliavini as naval architect. The challenge came from a repeat Apreamare owner, eager for a larger yacht capable of guaranteeing long and safe voyages in tough conditions and a superior quality of life on board. After the initial evaluation, the shipyard and owner converged for a new flagship of over 27 metres in overall length, while remaining below the 24-metre regulatory threshold, and thus, the new Maestro 88 is born, fully customized with a semi-planning hull. While she strongly recalls the family-feeling of the previous Maestro line, the new 88 introduces innovative solutions and a fresh interpretation of style, form, and liveability, just like the new Gozzo line. Starting from design imperatives and stylistic cornerstones, which form the basis for the large and liveable cockpit and the unmistakably coordinated exteriors and interiors, Umberto Tagliavini proposed a dedicated hull geometry to tame the sea, even in adverse weather conditions, ensuring the complete safety and comfort of guests on board. Departing from her sisters in the previous Maestro line, rather than committing to planning hull, the Maestro 88 will feature a semi-planning keel optimized to cruise at eighteen knots in absolute comfort, with the possibility for a 23 knots as maximum speed. Regarding propulsion options, Apreamare Maestro 88 will come with twin Man 1600hp engines as standard, with eight thousand litres of fuel for a range up to one thousand nautical miles at ten knots. For Maestro 88 hull one, the owner chose the larger engines of twin 2,000hp Man which increase top speed by five knots. The external lines, endowed with great elegance and visual impact by the hand of Marco Casali, continuously dialogue with the indoor, which were designed to experience all around views of the sea. Compromises were not permitted in this project, resulting in continuous and direct visual contact with the outdoor. The connection with the marine element finds its natural quintessence on the large aft deck, in the bow lounge, across the sprawling beach club and through the long sliding glass windows. The expansive glazing also characterize the hull for a good part of its length, sending lots of light below deck, bringing out the chromatic games, and embellishing the marine reflections which are projected into the interiors. To solidify the sense of enhanced safety, a bow high above the water has been designed with an 80 cm rail, a pleasant frame to protect free circulation onboard, and for greater freedom of movement on deck. On the flybridge numerous spaces are to be dedicated to relaxation and boasting an elegant galley module with wet-bar, a T-Top with a light and captivating design stands out. The entire surface area of this part is covered with solar panels to power the onboard systems. For the entertainment of guests or for romantic getaways, the transom garage can house a four-metre tender and numerous water toys. The interiors are fully personalized, customizable in the number of cabins, furnishings and concept. Hull number one of the Maestro 88 will be launched with four suites, a studio and relaxation corner with an electric piano, but future owners have the option for up to five guest cabins and two for crew to accommodate a total of four. The flexibility of the Maestro 88 is a further confirmation of the Apreamare construction philosophy, operating as a “boutique” shipyard, capable of responding to any need for customization through an infinite choice of materials, essences, fabrics and colours, and thanks to the skilled hands of the internal workers, who are real artisans of excellence.

New Launch: Columbus Custom 50M

Columbus Yachts, a brand of Palumbo Superyachts, is pleased to announce the launch of m/y Anjelif, a new 50-metre full custom built entirely in aluminium.  This 50m Columbus Custom is the seventh super yacht launched by Columbus, tailor made to the needs of her experienced owner and packed with technical and stylistic innovations like the hybrid, diesel-electric propulsion. Furthermore, this superyacht makes use of two distinct and highly advanced technologies: one through the application of cold plasma for the sanitization of air coming from outside and used both for ventilation and air conditioning; the other one dedicated to room sanitization at pre-set intervals to ensure daily safety. The first guarantees the efficient elimination of airborne viruses and bacteria in the incoming airstream, while the second automates the sanitization of each internal area of the boat. Exteriors and interiors are by Marco Casali of Too-Design while the engineering is by the Palumbo Superyachts team. The interior design has been rigorously developed with natural and ecological materials and includes a gym on the main deck, a sauna, massage room. The swimming pool in the transom with exposed teak finish is of very scenic effect, while a second Jacuzzi is located on the top deck. At the bow, we find a functional zone complete with sunbathing area and a touch & go helicopter docking platform which can be eventually transformed into an open-air cinema. The layout includes 4 decks, with the master cabin positioned on the main deck forward and 4 double cabins below deck. The crew is made up of eleven members accommodated in seven cabins. Columbus Custom 50m has a 499 GT gross tonnage and can reach a maximum speed of 20 knots with a range of 3000 nautical miles at 12 knots. The diesel engine system includes twin MTU 2636hp each, while twin 175 kW Kohler generators make up for the electric one. The hybrid system, developed thanks to the consolidated experience of Palumbo Superyachts in this specific field, provides for the possibility of using two electric motors in diesel-electric propulsion with a power of 100 kW each for a speed of approximately 9 knots. The electric motors coupled with the propulsion motors, can in turn be used as shaft generators, allowing navigation with the gen-sets off. A latest generation lithium battery pack is used as electricity back-up, avoiding any possibility of blackout during the transient phases. Columbus Custom 50m will have its world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023.

Project: Nordhavn 112

The next Nordhavn to be introduced to the market just might be an ultra-versatile 112-footer. Nordhavn Chief of Design Jeff Leishman has drawn the lines for a super yacht with all the amenities, features and luxuries of larger yachts but one which levels down in manageability requirements. The idea for this super yacht came when Leishman recognized a gaping difference between the Nordhavn 120 and its sistership closest in size, the 96, after the two models were docked alongside one another. The Nordhavn 120, while a masterpiece in style and function, is potentially intimidating to some buyers who don’t want the necessity of taking on a full crew to operate. Additionally, with the a huge trend of Nordhavn buyers who move up in size within the brand, the jump from 96 or even 100 feet to 120 feet was too considerable. Leishman says the key to the Nordhavn 112 is keeping it under 400 gross tons, the limit for which many systems and operations requirements are more manageable. He envisions only a small crew needed to help run the super yacht. Like most Nordhavns, it will be a full displacement hull with the capacity to carry enough fuel for transoceanic voyages. Leishman said he focused on creating outside areas for lounging and mimicked balcony-esque deck spaces found on larger mega-yachts, by way of incorporating folding bulwarks. There are also plans for a large spa tub on the flybridge and a grand lounging area forward of the pilothouse. On the aft deck behind the pilot house will be room to carry up to an eight meter tender plus a small inflatable and jet skis. She’ll also be fitted with a gym and beach-style swim step. In its current configuration the Nordhavn 112 has four queen guest cabins and one large owners’ suite, accommodations for up to six crew and a total of 10 heads. The Nordhavn 112 will be built out of steel, eliminating the considerable time and expense that FRP tooling requires, and allowing delivery of hull number on a much friendlier time schedule. Leishman also said that design change are much easier to accomplish with steel hulls. The super structure could possibly be constructed of aluminum or even FRP. Currently, Leishman and the Nordhavn design team are searching for a factory to construct the Nordhavn 112, honing in on European yards that specialize in steel construction. The first hull will be built on order.
