Project: Van Der Valk 21.27 metre Project Micamo

Van der Valk Shipyard in the Netherlands is taking its fully custom approach to the next level with the 21.27-metre Project Micamo. This bespoke flybridge motoryacht has been ordered by a client with precise requirements in terms of range and led to new rules being set by the Japanese flag state authorities. With a sophisticated exterior and interior by Guido de Groot Design, Project Micamo is set to showcase the finest Dutch craftsmanship to Japan in a unique way when delivered. It also confirms how far Van der Valk is prepared to go to meet custom demands. The owner of Project Micamo is keen to sail on his own keel to the Ogasawara Islands, a UNESCO World Heritage site located some 500 nautical miles south of the main Japanese archipelago. A 24-hour ferry service runs to the archipelago from Tokyo and the maritime authorities have strict rules in place for commercial vessels that are equivalent to those applied to container ships. No regulations were in place, however, for a 20-metre pleasure craft making such lengthy passages so these had to be specifically adapted for Project Micamo. Months of dedicated engineering, careful calculations, stability booklet updates and more have underpinned construction of the hull.  Van der Valk Project Micamo will feature a four double cabins layout with an owners stateroom at midships, while the main deck will offer a more a more traditional central galley plan.  Project Micamo is to be powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod drives for estimated top speeds up to 29 knots.

New Model: Cheoy Lee CLB65

Cheoy Lee presents the CLB65, a flybridge motor yacht which represents a new entry point into CL Yachts’ line-up, with luxurious features inspired by her larger sister-ships. Project: Dominator Ilumen Performance P66

Dominator returns where it started in building planning flybridge motor yachts and presents the project for the Ilumen Performance P66.  Dominator was founded in 1999 on the remains of the original Mochi-Craft yard founded in 1960, and becoming a symbol of flybridge cruisers in eighties.  This new Ilumen Performance P66 looks to based on the Dominator 620, which is one of the Austrian owned Italian builder best sellers and based on the Mochi 19 Sonic designed by Nuvolari Lenard.  Dominator is saying P66 hull one will have a trendy dark grey metallic paint with seductive orange design elements complementing the exterior furniture.  This theme continues inside by pairing shades of grey in different textures with modern orange tones to achieve an impression of timeless chic. Exquisite grey marbles with artistic orange veins transform the bar into the center of attention in the salon while the grey oak gives a touch of classic yet contemporary look and feel.  Dominator advises that the Ilumen Performance is a new range of motor yachts blending the best of both worlds with futuristic features like full carbon hard-top, full length hull windows for light filled interior spaces, and a flybridge that can convert into a private sunbathing area, all with planning hull advantages of speed and smooth performance in any kind of sea.  Based on this I think we will see some of the previous Dominator flybridge models redesigned, rebadged, and returned into production as is the case with 620-P66.

Project: Franchini 70 Noah

Franchini continued its course in 2019 with the Mia 63 an eighteen meter sport yacht platform offered in the T-Top and Sport-Fly versions coupled to aggressive lines, clean surfaces and high performance typical of  Mediterranean yachts.  Now Franchini presents the Noah 70 project, an evolution in some aspects of the Mia but a flybridge motor yacht aimed at those who look far away and want to experience the sea without limits: a yacht for long journeys! The definitions for this kind of yachts are endless today: Long Range; Blue Water; Shuttle; Explorer. Franchini does not like labels and is offering the Noah with the tradition of sea qualities, and evolution in comfort of recent years. With this approach Franchini in its seventy years of history made up of work, passion and research, have designed and built over four hundred boats, all still sailing. The same principles gave life to the Noah 70, for which, at the basis of the creative process, is the idea of navigation that favors the breadth of the horizon over the narrowness of time, the pleasure of travel over the urgency of the goal. It starts from a 20-meter hull, 22 in over-all length, capable of accommodating up to five double cabins with relative bathrooms and an infinite number of stowage and service spaces. This customization comes from simple and yet effective engineering, based on a structural cage where the transverse bulkheads make a fundamental contribution to the overall rigidity and, consequently, contribute to the solidity of the hull and it's own weight reduction. This fact, combined with the perfect weight distribution on board, significantly improves stability, safety and navigation comfort. Naturally the Noah 70 is equipped with engines suitable for the intended range of use which ranges from Volvo IPS pod drives propulsion, or to the more traditional line shaft with the essential aim of favoring reliability and autonomy over extreme performance.

Project: Princess F65

The last fall might have been a quiet one to the usual standards from Princess, but for Spring 2022 the new model announcements by the British builder seems to be making up for it, with three still secretive projects plus an evolution of a current model being announced.  The most secretive of these three new project is the new F65, which is the next evolution of Princess bread and butter F for flybridge range.  So far little information if any is known of this nineteen meter motor yacht, which is to replace the F62 and fill the void left by the F70 which was replaced by the Y72 in 2021.  Design is trusted to Pininfarina for exterior looks with naval architecture to the since the eighties standing Olesinski.  The above rendering shows the Italian design firm using similar looks and curves as seen in the F45 and the Y72.  Lower deck layout is said to be a four double cabins, with a forward VIP, owners room at midships, and two twin berth cabins in between.

Project: Fairline Squadron 58

Hot on the heels of the announcement of the new Phantom 65, British boat builder Fairline is again making waves with the project for a new Squadron 58, set to hit the water in the end of 2022 and to be showcased for the first time at the 2023 Düsseldorf show in January. A completely new design with exteriors by Mancini, hull by Vripack with interiors by Salt the Squadron 58 sets a new standard for the brand with unmistakably modern and unique innovations. The exterior design embraces the styling cues of iconic Squadrons of the past with the legendary triple-fin detail incorporated into the superstructure aft quarters. Most notably, the Squadron 58 comes with a highly desirable beach club option, a first for Fairline. Consisting of hydraulic fold-down balconies on both the port and starboard sides, an innovative new design for the high/low transom bathing platform, flexible and modular cockpit seating which allows for a bespoke arrangement that suits, complemented with a glass transom to enhance your connection to the water. When not in use, the bathing platform can be used to hold a tender and when desired, it remotely extends doubling in length and submerges into the water allowing plenty of space for sun loungers. The beach club comes complete with moveable cockpit bar stools.  Throughout the design, there is a continuous indoor/outdoor feel. In another first for Fairline, the cockpit and saloon are separated by an angled patio door, which ensures the flybridge staircase does not encroach into either the cockpit or interior space. The saloon oozes with natural light and offers an array of comfortable seating options for guests. Additional socialising space and a sunbathing area can be enjoyed on the foredeck. The flybridge features a spacious sun pad aft, wet bar, plenty of seating, hardtop with sunroof and wrap-around glazing to allow for uninterrupted views. The lower deck is designed with three cabins and two heads. The midships master stateroom comes complete with a king-sized bed, a dedicated bureau with stool and drawer storage to starboard, with a large port side sofa. At the stern, customers can add a crew cabin which is accessed through a door in the transom.  The new Squadron 58 will be powered by twin Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp shaft drive engines.
