Project: Canados 88 Evolution

Since coming into new ownership at the end of 2015 Canados has been coming with a host of new projects.  Now the Rome builder of Ostia presents the project for the new 88 Evolution, a renewed model for its 86 which sold in 46 units in a production span of just over ten years. This makes the Canados 86 its best selling model to date. Apart a more modem look the Canados 88 versus the 86 will offer larger window surfaces especially to what concerns the main deck, and an option for a hard top on the flybridge.  What should not change in the 88 versus the 86 is surely the customization of the yacht, and also the good balanced sea keeping.  Performance wise the Canados 88 has estimated top speeds of 32 knots with 1900hp Man or 1925hp Cat engines.

Project: Canados Gladiator 901 Sport

Since coming into new ownership Canados has been working fast around the clock to launch new projects aimed to put the brand at the top of the packing order in the semi-custom super yacht spectrum.  So after first presenting the 76 Oceanic which is currently being tested, Canados presents the project for a new 90 Gladiator which replaces the 90 Open after a ten years plus production run.  The 90 Gladiator is based on the hull of the Open, which apart being fast is also a very seaworthy design aimed at keeping sustained high speeds even in rough seas. Technically speaking the 90 Gladiator is a make up improvement of the model it replaces with a new hard top and window profile, and a fore-deck with the must have dinette and sun-pad.   Canados 90 Gladiator will also be available with three engine propulsion choices; twin Man 1900hp with shafts, Mans 2600hp with Arneson surface drives, and triple Man 1900hp with Top System surface drives.  Speeds go to the max of 33 knots of the first option to over 55 knots of the last option.  In the triple engine option the 90 Gladiator will receive a structural upgrade with hull build in Kevlar Aramat fibers, Carbon reinforcements, and interior furniture in honeycomb.

New Model: Canados Oceanic 90 STS

Its exciting times in Rome in Italy, and at Cantieri Navali di Ostia who launch hull one of its new explorer Oceanic Yachts line. To be exact Canados launch the Oceanic 90 STS, which sold in January of this year. Among the amenities offered by this first yacht is an upper deck owner’s stateroom with private terrace, while a VIP plus two guest cabins are located on the lower deck. The interior decoration is a result of a study undertaken by the in-house design studio in conjunction with the owner. The primary timbers used throughout will consist of limed Grey Oak, Macassar Ebony, WengĂ©, lacquered wood and wood floors. The convertible aft deck, with over-sized modular sofas, will stow a 6.50m diesel powered SACS tender while two three seat personal water-crafts, two Seabobs and one JetLev will be stored in the transom garage. An additional stand-up JetSki will be installed on the deck, right under the 1.5 ton capacity Opacmare crane. The engine room will be buffered from the lower deck amenities by a spectacular sound insulation system engineered like on a fifty meter yacht and the by the vast crew quarters and custom made galley. As the Canados Oceanic Yachts production 90 hull number one maintains the brand-new philosophy whose main features are: extended outdoor and indoor living volumes, ability to carry large toys and tenders, high performance and ability to navigate at economic speed with low fuel consumption, resulting in reduced overall operating costs.  The  Canados Oceanic 90 STS has also the option to be offered in the DiElec version, which stands for Diesel-Electric propulsion. It is a true innovation of the Oceanic range. In this version, the 90' can run either on its two Caterpillar 1925hp engines for speeds up to 27 knots, or alternately, on its two electric motors fed by the two generators. Under Electric power, the 90 STS can run at 8 knots with a consumption in the region of 40 liters per hour.

Project: Canados Oceanic 120 DiElec

It's been an important start for 2014 since Canadoes announced its new expedition Oceanic range, selling and currently building two of the six vessels available. The Oceanic 120 sits in the middle of the range and is a high tech composite construction. Powered by twin MTU 2600hp and twin Auxilia 120 kW electric engines, the DiElec short term for diesel electric can achieve a top speed of 23-knots. But that’s not her most impressive attribute, when cruising at 8-knots on her electric engine the 120 DiElec’s ridiculously low fuel consumption figures have to be seen to be believed. As with all models across the Oceanic range, the entire upper deck is devoted to the owner’s suite. On the lower deck four additional cabins accommodate guests in considerable comfort. Stowed in the Oceanic 120 DiElec’s central garage is a 6.5m tender and a jet ski, while the aft garage can store two additional jet skis. With flexibility typical of the Oceanic philosophy, the 120 DiElec can also be designed with on-deck tender stowage, providing the opportunity to utilize the garage space as an over-sized beach club.

Project: Canados Oceanic 140 DiElec

In the fall of 2013 Canados made an interesting move by presenting its new tug boat inspired Oceanic range. This new Canados Oceanic range is a very interesting concept, offering some interesting elements as plenty of space for tender stowage, huge aft deck, and a hybrid displanning twin stepped hull shape.  The Oceanic 140 is the second project showcased by Canados in a range which will feature four models from 90 to 140 feet.  The Oceanic 140 is available in two versions Dielec and Support.  The DiElec is the diesel engine electronic motor hybrid, we are showing in this post.  The upper deck of the Canados Oceanic 140 will feature to full the owners area, with an apartment style cabin.  The main deck will feature the wheelhouse forward and saloon.  Power will be triple MTU 2600hp engines with two diesel electric motors.  Max speed is 27 knots, cruise of 23 and an electric only speed of 8 knots.  This last can give a range of up to 4900 nautical miles.

New Model: Canados 108

Launched in the middle of summer, with a World debut happening at Cannes show, is the new Canados 108.  An important new model from the nineteen fifties founded Italian Rome boat builder which fills a gap between the last 2012 year launched 120 flagship and the 86 of the flybridge line.  For the exterior line of the new 108, the Canados design team presented a two and half deck super yacht with natural evolution looks from the 2004 launched 110 which eventually became a 116 and a 120.  The new Canados 108 seems to emphasize view windows and access from the main deck to the exterior being easy. Two doors per side offer direct access to the side decks. Another interesting feature is also the bulbs which increase space on the fore deck.   Hull one of the 108 had an interior designed by Christian Gatto, who presented a plan with the owners stateroom on the main deck, and four double cabins below.  Gatto used oak, teak, bamboo woods, with a leather material match up.

Canados presents the new 120 Enhanced, a further evolution of the 110 and 116 series model from the famous central Italy boat builder standing on the coast of Rome and building yachts of various sizes since sixty years.  The new Canados 120 takes the flagship crown of Cantieri Navali di Ostia, it is also its largest fiberglass build, although the builder did construct a wood two deck and a half 120 in the mid eighties. The Canados is not only an evolution in size to the 116 series but also improves the technological prowess of the yacht with swiveling balconies and opening side doors being main characteristics of this project.  Another impressive feature not found in the previous models is the hard top, and a beach stern with garage.  Inside Canados philosophy continues of a free to customer choice with options from four to six cabins, and an owners stateroom room to midships or to fore on the main deck.  Speed is a max of 27 knots with twin MTU 2600hp engines.

Project: Canados 120

Canados presents its next upcoming late Spring launch showing the project of the 120.  This new Canados will reach the larger size as presented by a wooden construction in the eighties, by the Rome Ostia sea side town located yacht builder.  Designed by the Canados technical team outside and renowned architect Francesco Paszkowski inside, the 120 follows super structure lines as seen on the current flagship of the line the 116, which was presented as 110 in 2004.  Fair to say it is indeed the evolution of the 116. The differences come in the inclusion of a hardtop, new side finger shape hull view windows, inclusion of opening two balconies per side on the main deck, and a C-shape settee to fore deck.  Canados did not advise plan for inside which is pretty much custom in all its range, but the 116 has a choice of a four, or five double cabins layout with the owners stateroom usually located on the fore part of the main deck.  Power is from twin 2400hp MTU which should give a max speed of 29 knots.

Project: Canados 100

Canados take a very new approach with this 100 project set to launch for 2012. Designed by Carlo Galeazzi, the 100 features loads of glassed surfaces on both the hull and super structure, with modern mechanisms as fold down terraces and bathing platform also being an important part of this project. Sitting in between the 86 and the 116 model, designer Galeazzi distinct himself from the classic lines of the brand which I had the feeling where set to continue with the latest new model that was the 76. If the 2006 launched Luiz De Basto designed 90 Open was modern, the 100 project is surely more to it and sets to reinvent the lines with new design touches as the forward looking radar arch, more straight hull forms, and glassed surfaces. Even the topsides of the foredeck are a distance from the Canados usual low surfaces here appearing more streamlined and long. This design feature mostly happening because of the raised pilot house. The 100 will have an option of a four or five cabin interior depending on owners choice, and will have two crew rooms. Power will be from twin MTU 2600hp which should give a 31 knots top speed. Canados is owned since 2007 by Balmoora Capital who also own the British sailing yacht brand Oyster. www.canados.com
