Project: Cranchi SessantaSette Corsa

Cranchi and its lead designer Christian Grande are working on the project for the SessantaSette Corsa.  A hard-top sport yacht version of the SessantaSette, so far Cranchi is being tight on information for the Corsa project.  Translated to Race, Corsa is set to be a more sporty version with more streamlined upper structure and a mini flybridge up top with low profile furniture versus that of the 67.  For the interior I would not be surprised for it to have the exact same layout, which is offered in three or four cabins in the SessantaSette.  One information Cranchi reported is that the SessantaSette Corsa is to be powered by Volvo 1000hp with IPS propulsion as the standard 67, with this reaching speeds up to 29 knots and a cruise of 24.

Flybridge Cruiser Ends Beached in Livorno Harbour

A nine meter flybridge cruiser ended up beached in Livorno on the morning of Sunday sixth November.  The flybridge cruiser reportedly lost power to both its engines with the wind pushing it on the beach.  The coast guard gave immediate assistance to the passengers onboard the flybridge cruiser taking them to safety.  Later in the day a rib tried to tow away the flybridge cruiser with no success.
This beached flybridge cruiser is a Piantoni Ondazzurra 9.50 mt produced from 1985 to 1990, it was a project made in house by the Bergamo builder which had success in the eighties, and shared hull with the sports Onda Blu.  The Piantoni Ondazzurra offered a two cabins layout with single head and living and galley on the main deck, and was powered by twin Volvo 175hp with stern drives in the first year, and later units getting the 200hp, reaching speeds up to thirty knots.  Piantoni sold over one hundred units of the Ondazzurra and Onda Blu, which today is still a wanted used boat, due to the generous accommodation, sea worthy hull, and strong construction.

Project: Jarrett Bay 90 Sportfisherman Hull #68

Jarrett Bay Boatworks is excited to announce the commission of hull #68 by repeat owners for an impressive upgrade to a high-tech 27 meter super sportfish yacht with a full tower and open bridge.  Hull #68 will share Jarrett Bay's flagship spot with the 90 hull #62 launched in 2017, although technically looking at details this hull #68 is a bit larger and wider.  This custom ninety feet Jarrett Bay will be added to the builder’s long list of extraordinary projects with cutting-edge infusion and advanced lamination techniques, both to the superstructure and the decks, to save weight. The cold-molded hull will be traditionally crafted to ensure Jarrett Bay’s signature legendary ride, while a massive cockpit and bridge will provide the space needed to fish and relax comfortably. The range is expanded with her ability to carry more than 15,000 litres of fuel, allowing for extended travel.  There are few compliments greater than a returning customer, and Jarrett Bay boasts many owner families who have entrusted their craftspeople to build their dream sportfishing boat or yacht more than once. Final details are currently under review, including power options and the interior arrangement. Construction is set to begin in the early part of 2023.

Project: Bronson Vector 23,75m

Steeler's new more avant-garde sporty brand Bronson is currently building this innovative and different Vector. An order from a client the 23 meter Vector is based on the hull of the Bronson 75 project and is a mix of an explorer and sport yacht of sorts.  Bronson Vector welcomes you aboard with a sport yacht entrance aft deck, two side entrances and a central sun-pad with a dinette in-front. From this area is a split level which takes guests five steps down  to the lower deck, or five steps up to the living main deck.  The main deck comes in a raised position and goes uninterrupted to the fore-deck which features a terrace with C-shaped dinette which converts to a sun-pad.  To aft is another raised terrace, with lounge and dinning area.  The lower deck is offered in two options with four cabins sleeping seven one of which for crew, or three with the the midships area turned into a living room with galley and saloon. With this choice the main deck changes in a relaxing lounge area with opposite L-shaped sofas, and a central stair case which connects you the dining-living area below and cabins forward.  The Bronson Vector is to be powered by twin Volvo 800hp with IPS pod drives, no speed estimates are yet provided.

Flybridge Cruiser Ends on Reef in Procida

A twelve meter flybridge cruiser ended on a reef in the Island of Procida on the afternoon of first November.  The flybridge cruiser ended beached to the West of Procida near Punta Serra and Pozzo Vecchio.  In late afternoon a Coast Guard rib boat was trying to pull tow away the cruiser with no success.
The flybridge cruiser in this accident is Hudson Ricci 40 produced from 1989 to 1992 in 36 units in two versions.  This Hudson Ricci 40 is the second version called poppa lunga, long stern produced from 1990 to 92 in seventeen units.  The Hudson Ricci 40 was designed by Fred Hudson, hull shape by Jim Wynn and Walt Walters, and interiors by Macchi and Roseo. The Hudson Ricci 40 offered a two cabin interior with a rare to find three cabins option with galley up and a third single berth cabin to starboard.  Power came from twin Cat 380hp with the last three hulls powered by the 420hp.
Hudson and Ricci was Cantieri dell Pardo famous its Grand Soleil sailing cruisers and yachts motor boat brand born in 1988 and continued till 1997 producing two models in that time, the 40 and the 54 from 1993.  Pardo will return to motorboat production again in 2017 starting with the 43 sport cruiser walkaround and today expanded to six models from eleven to 23 meters.

Sixty Years of Aquarama

In 2022 the Riva Aquarama celebrated sixty years from its inception.  Considered by most as the iconic boat, the Riva Aquarama entered production in 1962 and was produced till 1996 in 769 units and five versions, two of which are the very limited Lungo only seven units, and the one-off Lamborghini hull #278 build for Ferruccio himself.  An evolution of the 1954 launched Tritone, and coming from a design of Giorgio Barilani the Aquarama saw three different Riva ownerships in its production life; Carlo Riva, Whittaker from 1969, and Vickers 1989 to the last seven years.

When Ferretti Group took over Riva in May 2000 it was no surprise that the first step was launching a heir to the Aquarama with the AquaRiva.  Designed by since 1991 Riva designer Mauro Micheli, this new at the time model followed the iconic Aquarama in style and substance but is build in fiberglass with mahogany covered deck, and still in production today.  An icon from the start the AquaRiva has also seen six versions so far in twenty years production with the latest one the Anniversario launched for 2022 and limited to only eighteen units.

What makes a machine like the Aquarama special is that in a sector which is dominated by size, the most iconic boat is an eight meter runabout with a cuddy cabin forward and build of wood.  Surely there is iconic super yachts out there, but go in a bay full of large super yachts and put a Riva Aquarama in it and see it getting the admiration of both the trained and untrained eye.

If you want to car compare, the Riva Aquarama is like a Ferrari 250 GTO of the water, something special and unique which with its beauty has a special place in its natural environment, or as a monument to motor boating in an art gallery.
