Project: Azimut S7

Azimut present the project for a new S7, which has now received the Alberto Mancini exterior looks treatment looking more a sibling albeit smaller to the larger S8 and S10 models.  Launched in 2017 the original S7 was designed by 1992-2018 Azimut lead designer Stefano Righini to huge success.  The mark II or Mancini version builds on the same Ausonio designed hull form, with some little changes to the layout plan.  The changes is in some details; the fore deck lounge area for example has minor design tweaks which is now more rounded and open, while the master stateroom queen berth is looking to port side bulkhead instead of an angle as it was before, and now features a large sofa to starboard opposite.  Other detail changes are the garage which is now that bit larger with the same length, not shorter to the jet-bike side.  These changes have added an extra weight of about 2500 kilograms in loaded mode, now weighing 46 ton versus the 43.5 of the Righini version but performance has not changed according to Azimut with the three Volvo 800hp and IPS pod drives still giving a declared 35 knots of top speed.

Project: Franchini 70 Noah

Franchini continued its course in 2019 with the Mia 63 an eighteen meter sport yacht platform offered in the T-Top and Sport-Fly versions coupled to aggressive lines, clean surfaces and high performance typical of  Mediterranean yachts.  Now Franchini presents the Noah 70 project, an evolution in some aspects of the Mia but a flybridge motor yacht aimed at those who look far away and want to experience the sea without limits: a yacht for long journeys! The definitions for this kind of yachts are endless today: Long Range; Blue Water; Shuttle; Explorer. Franchini does not like labels and is offering the Noah with the tradition of sea qualities, and evolution in comfort of recent years. With this approach Franchini in its seventy years of history made up of work, passion and research, have designed and built over four hundred boats, all still sailing. The same principles gave life to the Noah 70, for which, at the basis of the creative process, is the idea of navigation that favors the breadth of the horizon over the narrowness of time, the pleasure of travel over the urgency of the goal. It starts from a 20-meter hull, 22 in over-all length, capable of accommodating up to five double cabins with relative bathrooms and an infinite number of stowage and service spaces. This customization comes from simple and yet effective engineering, based on a structural cage where the transverse bulkheads make a fundamental contribution to the overall rigidity and, consequently, contribute to the solidity of the hull and it's own weight reduction. This fact, combined with the perfect weight distribution on board, significantly improves stability, safety and navigation comfort. Naturally the Noah 70 is equipped with engines suitable for the intended range of use which ranges from Volvo IPS pod drives propulsion, or to the more traditional line shaft with the essential aim of favoring reliability and autonomy over extreme performance.

Gouvia Marina Fire Destroys Four Yachts

Four yachts where destroyed on the North looking Pontoon P in Gouvia marina in Corfu, in a fire which started around 1600 hours of Wednesday seventh September.  The fire first started on a twenty meter Princess sport yacht, which then jumped to a sailing catamaran of about sixteen meter, then another catamaran, and lastly the classic 29 meter sailing yacht Halcyon.  An explosion from the Princess twenty meter sport yacht was reported as being heard before a huge plump of smoke was seen coming up.  Nineteen fire fighters, five fire engines and a fire fighting boat where involved in the containment and control of the fire, along with volunteers who where untying and towing away nearby yachts.  Luckily no one was injured in this fire, which was rather extensive, in one of the largest Greek yacht marinas, with the four yachts being totalled and mostly a wreck.
The Princess sport yacht which started the fire is a V65.  Produced from 2000 to 2004 to a design of Bernard Olesinski the V65 was a successful model from Princess, selling in over fifty units in this mark.1 version.
S/y Halcyon is a classic 29 meter schooner build in 1929 as a commercial vessel by Vosper Thornycroft, turned into a yacht school in 1957 and kept in this use for 32 years.  In 1988 she started its yacht conversion, which was finalized in 2004.
