Project: Windy 31 Zonda

Renowned Scandinavian boat builder Windy Boats, is going back to the future in 2011 with the new 31 Zonda project, a fast weekender which harks back to the glory days of the deep Vee hull. Focused on a deep, secure cockpit and a performance oriented helm position, the Zonda’s simple and elegant accommodation is designed around the needs of an overnight couple. There is a single sleeping cabin down below, with a big double bed, a generous shower compartment and a small galley. The cockpit seating is sheltered by a canopy on a folding stainless steel frame which is designed to be as effortless as possible to put up, and unobtrusive when stowed. A pure 24 degrees deep Vee hull can be powered by single or twin stern drive installations from Volvo, up to a maximum of 440hp. New Model: Windy Dubois SR52 Blackbird

An unusual new model from Norway's Windy but this is the Dubois SR52 Blackbird. Designed as the title says by renowned yacht architect Ed Dubois, in collaboration with Windy's Hans Jorgen Johnsen the SR52 is a Sport Yacht size tender with a length of 52 feet. World famous Ed Dubois for the SR52 Blackbird presented some military influenced looks with an axe style bow and moderately squarish vertical hull shape. The exterior is the center of life for the SR52 which is a fully walk around deck with a central three or four persons sunpad aft, a dinette with seating for eight, and a three seat center located helm station which is covered by a modern looking T-shaped hard top. A raised three step foredeck concludes the exterior plan. A small interior which pays the price of the huge exterior sleeps two in a forward berth, and has a shower head is the SR52 Blackbird accommodation layout. Windy's construction for the SR52 follows its latest light environment friendly vacuum infusion resin type, with Divinycell cores used to reduce weight to just about twelve tons. Power is from a triple Volvo 435hp engines with forward looking dual propeller IPS pods which give a top speed of 46 knots, 40 knots cruise, and a best range of about 480 nautical miles.

New Model: Windy 40 Maestro

Windy presents its latest new model the 40 Maestro set to fill a void left between the recently introduced 44 Chinook, and the long standing 37 Grand Mistral. Born as a 39 Sport Cruiser project in end of 2009, the 40 Maestro is a high performance machine with an interior offering two double cabins, a single shower head, saloon, and galley. An owners cabin is to fore, while a guest twin is to mid ship. interior finishing follows recent trends of Matt lacquered oak wood, with a variety of choice for the upholstery. The exterior is less spacious and extravagant to recent similar boats, though it still remains comfortable offering a C-shaped settee to starboard, small wet bar opposite, two person co-pilots seat, and helm station. As expected the 40 Maestro continues the transition of Windy to lighter and environment friendly vacuum resin infusion method of construction this delivering a light displacement of just 7.5 tons. Power will be two engine and propulsion choices, starting from a standard twin 300hp with stern drives up to an optional of 370hp. You also can get an optional more manoeuvring friendly IPS400 twin Volvo 300hp choice. With the big twin 370hp engine choice the 40 Maestro reaches a fast 44 knots top speed, and a 34 knots cruise.

Project: Windy T52 Super Tender

Windy has joined forces with world renowned yacht designer Ed Dubois to produce a stunning new 16.10 metre T52 Super Tender. Combining the exceptional design flair of Dubois with the superb build-quality, production capability and performance of the Windy brand, the elegant yet uncompromising T52 is guaranteed to turn heads as it delivers guests ashore in unprecedented style, speed and comfort. Sporting triple IPS 600 Volvo Penta diesel engines, the T52 will boast a top speed of 46 knots, and cruising of 40 knots. It will also deliver effortless manoeuvrability and stability at low speeds, thanks to Volvo’s joystick control. With a 4.5m beam, the cockpit offers generous seating including three separate racing chairs at the helm and three standing sports chairs with bimini shade. The open, walk-around teak deck also features a raised foredeck, and additional seating, sun lounger and hydraulic bathing ladder aft. A head with shower is located below decks, along with a double berth. One of the new generation of leaner, greener Windy models, the T52 employs vacuum injected moulding to produce a lighter, more fuel-efficient hull with a range of 450 miles. The sleek lines and rakish sheer of the T52’s distinctive hull will deliver an exhilarating but stable and dry ride. Work on the tender is already underway and the first T52 is expected to be ready for sea trials by June.

Project: Windy 39 Sport Cruiser

Norway's Windy Boats has announced an elegant new addition to its popular Scandinavian Sports Cruiser series, with the project for the Windy 39 Sport Cruiser. The 39 will be a two-cabin, high performance, Pan-European cruiser with a huge, sociable cockpit and a practical but sleek all-weather hardtop. It will be unveiled at this years major boat shows coming September. Combining the rakish good looks of Windy’s award-winning sports boats, with the comfort, flexibility and sea-keeping credentials of the 44 Chinook and 48 Triton, the 39 Sport Cruiser will appeal to the experienced cruising yachtsman who does not want to go too big. Great emphasis has been placed on the size and flexibility of the cockpit, which is optimised for relaxing and entertaining, while still providing secure seating for family and guests while under way. The hardtop offers protection from the sun or the rain without any of the hassles of a canopy, and features a sliding sunroof. Down below, there’s a compact, private saloon amidships with a sofa, table and a spacious galley opposite. Guests are accommodated in the double-berth mid cabin, while the owner’s cabin, with semi en suite access to the heads and shower compartment, occupies the bows. The standard interior finish is in Matt-lacquered light oak, with a wide range of upholstery choices. The hull colour standard is in white or champagne, but there is also a custom option, with a variety available to choose from. Like other new-generation Windy models, the new boat will be constructed using weight-saving, environmentally sensitive, vacuum injection moulding technology. Designed by Windy's own design team to perform with both Volvo’s forward facing IPS drive system and stern drives, the 39 Sport Cruiser will be offered with three different power options. Windy is estimating rather high top speeds of up to 44 knots with the stern drive D6 370hp option.

Improve-it = Windy 52 Xanthos

Windy Boats has delivered its first 52 Xanthos with triple Volvo IPS 600 engines, an innovative new configuration for the truly performance-minded owner. Combining a top speed of 41 knots with rapid acceleration of 0-30 knots in 13.2 seconds, the new triple engine installation produced such exceptional results in testing that the company has decided to offer it as a standard option. Not least because, even with the additional engine, it delivers 20% greater fuel efficiency at a cruising speed of 30 knots than the 52 Xanthos best selling 2 X Volvo D12-800 configuration. Key to the 52 Xanthos improved performance is the low drag design of Volvo’s inboard performance system which, combined with the boat’s deep vee hull, can deliver 40 knot plus speeds, whilst significantly reducing fuel consumption and emissions. The new configuration comprises three IPS600, 6 cylinder, 5.5 litre engines, delivering 435hp, used in combination with two 750mm Humphree Interceptors. Together they offer superb stability and manoeuvrability, as well as reduced noise and vibration levels. Launched in 2006, the 52 Xanthos combines sleek, low profile styling with luxurious three-berth accommodation, and a spacious saloon with sliding doors onto a broad expanse of teak-laid cockpit. Thanks to the newly configured triple IPS 600 version, 52 Xanthos owners can now go further, and faster, than ever before.

New Model: Windy 48 Triton

The 48 Triton is the new and elegant member for the Norwegian Windy family, bearing a clear resemblance to the successful 52 Xanthos. In other words it is a luxury sport cruiser, with a classic timeless design, beautifully crafted and carefully thought out detailing. The new Windy follows the range renowned deep V-hull, which combined with powerful Volvo engines give an exciting and comfortable ride at high speeds. A tinted sliding door separate inside from outside, leading into the cockpit saloon, with its pale coloured plush furnishings. It has a curved sofa and matching table, a stainless steel rail along the wet bar and a helmsman area featuring a dashboard with an anti-glare coating. Below deck the saloon, furnished in light colours and satin finish woodwork, contains an L-shaped sofa and 26’ flat screen TV, as well as a fully-equipped pantry with ceramic hob and a combined microwave oven. The middle cabins, guest toilet and bathroom lead off from the saloon. The starboard cabin has twin beds whilst the port cabin has a comfortable double bed. The master suite in the bow, offers a double bed, wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with shower.

New Model: Windy 44 Chinook

Taking centre stage on the Windy stand during the Düsseldorf Boat Show was the stunning new Windy 44 Chinook luxury sports cruiser, which made its worldwide debut at the show. The latest model from the renowned Norwegian boatyard is a handsome hard-top, designed with families who are not willing to sacrifice style and performance for space and comfort. Inspired by the success of the Windy 37 Grand Mistral, with its big, sociable cockpit, the 44 Chinook’s extra beam and length allows room for a spacious saloon and three double cabins below. Add a top speed of 38 knots, good looks, and the superb build-quality that has become standard with the Windy brand, and you have a hard-top sports cruiser that delivers on every count. Accommodation wise, too, the boat is in a class of its own. The enormous U-shaped sofa in the cockpit will sit the whole family and several friends comfortably. And it’s a similar story down below, with a big L-shaped dinette and a well-equipped galley with a huge floor space in between. Moreover, the Chinook is the among the few boats in this size to offer three double cabins: a big owner’s double cabin in the bows, with ensuite heads and shower, and two separate, roomy doubles amidships, which share heads on the starboard side. For all its elegant styling, and carefully considered accommodation, the Windy Chinook is designed to perform. The boat has an uncompromising deep-V hull to iron out rough seas, and comes with two engine options: twin 370hp Volvo diesels with Duoprop outdrives, or twin 435hp Volvos with forward-facing IPS drives. Top speed is estimated at no less than 38 knots, with cruising at 34 knots.

Projects: Windy 48 Triton, Windy 44 Chinook

Stylish sports looking hardtops are becoming a must for 12 metres plus sports cruisers and famous Norwegian builder Windy continue to update it's range in this direction, offering aggressive looking rigid protection cockpit models. The new Windy 48 Triton is a spacious 3 cabin, 2 heads, 14 metre hard top sports cruiser project, designed as the recently presented Windy's by Hans Jergen Johnsen. This new Windy is constructed with Volvo IPS in mind but is also offered with a shaft driven alternative for traditional propulsion lovers. A 34 knots top and 28 knots cruising speed are being estimated with 2 x !PS 600 Volvo diesel engines. The new Windy 44 Chinook is a 13.5 metre, 3 cabin sports cruiser project. As Windy's tradition of building family orientated craft, this project shows all this offering a 6 berths with 2 head comfortable interior accommodation. Designed by Windy Boats own design team, this new model is a high contender for the top spot in this size style craft, especially when one thinks that most of the sports cruisers available in this size offer 2 spacious cabins. Developed with Volvo's IPS in mind but also offered with tradition shaft drives, the 44 Chinook has an estimated top speed of 38 knots.

New Model: Windy 53 Balios

Based on the 52 Xanthos, Windy's 53 Balios is the sunny climate more Mediterranean version for the 16 metre sports yacht from Norway. Achieving a perfect balance of luxurious fit and finish and sporty performance. The hull is the same, fast and safe, and below decks it features the same comfortable three cabins two head design with the superb craftsmanship associated with the famous Norwegian brand. The main difference from the Xanthos is in the aft section, where the Balios has a practical dinghy garage covered by a sunbed.
