Project: Sea Ray L590 Fly

When Sea Ray announced its new class of luxury yachts, the L-Class, at February’s Miami Boat Show, it marked a new chapter in the company’s esteemed history. Now that chapter gains an exciting new development with the introduction of the L590 Fly.  With its graceful profile, social flybridge and easy livability, the L590 Fly joins its larger L-Class siblings, the L650 and L650 Fly, in embodying a distinct marriage of style and substance. Polished aesthetics are matched by effortless ergonomics, sleek lines and state-of-the-art propulsion technology.  The L590 Fly is loaded with forward-thinking features that demonstrate Sea Ray’s Next Wave initiative, a commitment to innovative thinking and inspired execution. On the lower level, living space abounds, with a large master suite with private head, two additional staterooms and a well-appointed guest head. Project: Sea Ray L650

Launching its new very important L650 Fly flagship at the just past Miami 2014 boat show, Sea Ray is fast to expand its Luxury line with a new upcoming model.  This new project is a sister model to the just launched L650 Fly minus the flybridge hard-top. That means that the L650 has two important differences; no fly-bridge but an opening glass sunroof which fills the main deck with natural light, and a different aft deck. The aft deck of this L650 features a C-shaped settee resting on the port side, and one way passage to and from the bathing platform at starboard. For the rest the L650 sport yacht keeps the same great features of the Fly version as the spacious four cabin layout below, and super split level main deck with one of the largest open plan galley in this size of boat.

New Model: Sea Ray L650 Fly

Sea Ray launched its new flagship at the just ended 2014 Miami boat show, the L650 Fly, with the L in-front of the model size meaning for luxury, a new high end range which will characterize the new big models from the known North American production boat builder. With this new Sea Ray continue the Europe inspiration for looks, and interior layout plan something which has characterized its recent models, and started in 2012 with the 510 Sundancer. Still the 650 Fly offers a few surprises to competitors in this size all over the globe. One of these will be its four double cabin layout below with no bunk cabins, and full beam midships located owners stateroom. The living of the L650 Fly presents itself in a split single step area; lounging at entrance, and the fore part having a large open plan galley and dining table. The galley keeps in touch with American demand for a large gourmet area and possible also among the largest in this size type of yacht. The L650 Fly also puts into it the latest wanted details as a settee on the fore deck which can be sun protected, and nice integrated hard top design up top.  Power will be from not so big Cat 1150hp Cat engines with Sea Ray predicting to be able to push the L650 Fly up to max speeds of thirty knots.

Project: Sea Ray 650 Fly

Sea Ray presents the project of a new 650 Fly flagship, an important upgrade for the US boat builder. This also showcases that with its new Fly line launched in 2013 fall with the new 510 the Brunswick head line motor boat building brand is meaning business. This project was already announced to the dealers and to Sea Ray friends back in the fall of 2013. Certainly with these latest over fifty feet models Sea Ray is showing that it wants to present a serious challenge to the main stream European brands, it certainly is doing many right things at the moment. The 510 showed this and the new 650 Fly is a further prove. For a twenty meter motor yacht the 650 Fly has some interesting elements, as fore deck seating, very spacious flybridge with a host of settee and dinettes, and last the must have large view windows in both main deck and lower deck.

Project: Sea Ray 350 SLX

Sea Ray shows details for its new 350 SLX project redeveloping the bow rider into an entertainment boat for up to an over crowded eighteen people seated outside, with the option of a small cuddy double berth below.  For thr 350 SLX Sea Ray shows attention for the outside and for having settee from bow to sterns all of which can be sun protected during your hot summer days with extendible and retractable biminis. The 350 SLX is in the end a Summer day boat, with a little thinking for an overnight stay if you want that. The nice part of the layout is the L-shaped settee with opposite galley amidships, which looks to be a nice area to cook, eat and chill.  Another interesting detail of the the SLX flagship comes also for having a high low bathing platform making tender storage a breeze, as well for being relaxed in the water more easy.  Power is from twin stern drive Mercruiser 350hp gas, or Cummins diesels of the same output.

Project: Sea Ray 510 Fly

Sea Ray want to tighten its grip on the motor yacht market, and after making the 510 Sundancer the best selling yacht about fifty feet for the 2013 year in the USA, presents its new flybridge sister project the 510 Fly.  Yes this new project presents a new line from Sea Ray, the Fly line, and by the looks of it, this one seems to be the most European flavoured then ever to come from the North American builder.  Basing itself on the hull design of the Sundancer the 510 Fly seems to be a well thought out project with a living main deck, divided by a split level area from the working area to fore; galley and helm, to the relaxing areas dining and lounge saloon in the lower part to aft.  Another spacious area on the 510 is to be its flybridge which also features a large C-shaped settee, helm to starboard, dinette with opposite bench settee, and a spacious L-shaped galley.  Below is a layout with three double cabins; with the cream of the cake being the amidships full beam owners room.  We still have no official word on the power options for this new Sea Ray 510 Fly, but if it mirrors the Sundancer then this is to be twin Cummins 550 with V-drive shafts, or optional 600hp engines with ZF Zeus aft looking dual propeller pod drives.

Project: Sea Ray 510 Sundancer

Sea Ray shows a blurred picture for the upcoming new 510 Sundancer, to be unveiled in the builder's first Homecoming celebration coming mid September.  In this event another 37 feet outboard powered cruiser 370 Venture will also be presented.  Not so much details are so far given of this new sport yacht Sea Ray 510 Sundancer, but what we can gather from this pictures is large view windows everywhere, patio door closure for main deck, and up down bathing platform.  Worth to note that the US builder was among the first to use this feature back in the nineties.  May be someone at the event can give us some more details later on.

C.N. Ray 1925 - 2009

Cornelius Nathaniel Ray III, who founded Sea Ray Boats in 1959, died on November 12 after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 84 years old. Ray opened the first Sea Ray boat factory in Oxford, Michigan, in 1959. He grew the company into an icon, leading it through the industry's peaks and valleys, including the inflationary periods and oil embargoes of the 1970s. He sold it to Brunswick in 1986 for US$350m. The book, Commanding the Waterways: The Story of Sea Ray, describes how Ray was one of the early adopters of fiberglass, and instilled a culture of innovation into what has become the world's largest production boat builder. Sea Ray now builds boats from 17 to 60 feet. Besides building boats, Ray's other passion was racehorses. He began his first thoroughbred operation in 1983 after acquiring Evergreen Farm in Paris, Kentucky. He won his first stakes race in 1985 and other stakes winners soon followed. Ray was also a frequent participant in the Breeders' Cup program, and won the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) in 1996 and 1997. Ray is survived by five sons, a daughter, and his wife Carol. There will be a remembrance ceremony at the St Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco, California, on Saturday.

Improve-it = Sea Ray 350 Sundancer

Sea Ray has featured the revolutionary Cummins MerCruiser Diesel (CMD) Axius sterndrive control system to the 350 Sundancer. This model was the first to emerge from CMD’s dedicated Vessel Integration facility and was shipped Down Under, to Adelaide. The 350 Sundancer is the flagship of Sea Ray's Sport Cruiser line and the Axius sterndrive makes it incredibly driver friendly. The Axius system utilises independently articulating sterndrives, and it allows even a novice captain to easily make intricate slow-speed boat manoeuvres, erasing much of the anxiety often associated with docking. An Axius-equipped boat can be manoeuvred laterally or at an angle and can spin inside its own length with the simple push or turn of the joystick. It’s a perfect match for the 350 Sundancer which features a spacious, open cabin with a double island V-berth, and convertible double berth mid cabin. The galley has solid surface countertops with ample storage above and below. The cockpit has a solid surface wet bar with a refrigerator standard. As with all Axius boats, SmartCraft Digital Throttle and Shift is standard for reliable shifting and smooth, even throttle response from idle to top speed. The 350 Sundancer is also offered with SeaCore corrosion protection system as optional on the Bravo 3 sterndrives for longer life in the harsh marine environment. The Axius system also includes an integrated autopilot system that provides auto-heading functionality, with the addition of an optional compatible chart-plotter.

New Model: Sea Ray 540 Sundancer

Sea Ray's newest Sundancer, is the big, and bold 540. This new model once again redefines a modern express cruiser with a sleek distinctive exterior; inviting and thoughtful interior; flexible and intuitive entertaining spaces; and friendly and comfortable living areas. The 540's sheer line flows sinuously from the bow back to the integral hardtop, which is enclosed on the front and sides to create a protected bridge. A retractable sunroof opens at the push of a button, and 32,000-BTU reverse-cycle air-conditioning keeps the cockpit comfortable year-round. This area boasts an amazing list of user-definable features, from a cockpit table and optional teak deck chairs, to a large starboard-side wet bar with icemaker and optional grill and 19" flatscreen TV with DVD player, to an aft bench with backrest cushions that swing open to extend the already huge sunpad. At the helm, two pedestal seats with armrests, footrests, and reclining backrests sit on centerline, enhancing individual comfort and visibility. These seats also pivot on a fiberglass base to face the starboard lounger and create a forward conversation area when the boat is at rest. The helm console is dominated by two 12" color displays for the Raymarine radar/GPS/chartplotter. Controls for the spotlight, Sony stereo, and VHF radio rest below, along with the electronic shifter, throttle, and joystick that operate the standard twin Cummins MerCruiser QSC600 diesel inboards 574hp with innovative, individually articulating Zeus pod drives. Twin SmartCraft Vessel View displays mounted overhead provide detailed engine and vessel data. Sea Ray's designers used natural light and earthy elements to create an elegant, dramatic atmosphere in the cabin. A skylight and six over sized hull windows brighten the salon and galley, where amenities include a Bose home theater system with 32" flatscreen HDTV, Ultraleather HPTM sofa that converts to a bed, coffee table, and wood flooring. Slightly removed from the salon, the galley has a spacious countertop for food preparation, as well as loads of storage. It comes equipped with a coffeemaker, under-counter freezer, under-counter refrigerator, two-burner stove, microwave/convection oven, and power vent. A sliding door in the style of a Japanese shoji screen leads aft to the full-beam master stateroom with en suite head. In this private sanctuary, which has a large picture window for light and ambiance, the owner enjoys a queen-sized innerspring mattress facing a Bose entertainment center with 26" flatscreen LCD and storage below. Another shoji-style door leads to the master head; this is a big space with a full-length mirror, hanging locker, additional drawer and vanity storage, and tile flooring. An enclosed shower stall with seat allows the head to be easily used by more than one person at a time. All the way forward, a VIP stateroom with access to a second head is almost as enticing as the master. A queen-sized island berth with innerspring mattress is flanked by cedar-lined hanging lockers and faces a Bose entertainment center with 19" flatscreen LCD. The forward head includes a shower stall, opening portlight, vanity, mirrored medicine chest, and tile flooring. The 540's layout can also be configured to accommodate three staterooms, in which case the mid-stateroom is split and the forward stateroom becomes the master. Designed to satisfy a growing number of boaters who were more attracted to speed than to size and amenities, the 18-footer could exceed 50 mph and had a low profile, rakish windshield and prominent racing stripe. Pachanga means "lively party" in Spanish, was brought back in 1986 when the 22 feet Pachanga II was launched. It pioneered the 260hp MerCruiser stern drive. This latest version of the Pachanga, measuring 24 feet, honors the past but also incorporating advanced technologies that boaters expect from today's Sea Rays. The exterior is fast and flashy, with a sleek windshield, reverse sheer line and stainless-steel hardware. The limited edition red gel coat, Pachanga logo and patterned vinyl give it an eye-catching, vintage feel .But don't let its retro looks fool you. The new Pachanga is a modern hot rod from the keel up. It runs on a deep V-hull and six lifting strakes that allow it come out of the water quickly and provide fast, nimble maneuvering. Standard power is a MerCruiser 350 Magnum 300hp with MPI Bravo I stern drive. For extreme speed demons, three additional engine options range up to a scorching 496 Magnum HO Bravo III 425hp. Accommodation is a fairly large upholstered cuddy cabin featuring a deck hatch, Sony stereo, and a portable head available as optional.
