Project: Hatteras GT70

Seems the just past Fort Lauderdale boat show was big news for Sportfish yachts passionate's, with two of the legendary brands announcing important new projects. Since stopping the production of the 68 in the Convertible line in 2012, there was a big model hole which spanned fourteen feet in the Hatteras sportfish series. This project Hatteras GT70 seems to be the answer to this hole, and a continuation of the expansion of the very nice looking GT series which so far features three models; 54, 60, and 63.  The GT70 will offer four layout interior plan choices; all of which offer four double guest cabins and three heads, plus one crew cabin berth with a private shower head.  The owners stateroom is located in the middle of the lower deck to starboard with the double berth looking to the ship side.  The main deck has two choices with the main difference here is for having an internal staircase for the flybridge. Below the option revolves around the midships located fourth cabin which in the optional choice is larger and offers a french berth plus a bunk, versus the two bunks of the standard layout.  Power and performance has not been mentioned, but if the other GT series can be prove of anything we can think around a 40 knots top end speed.

New Model: Hatteras 100 Raised Pilothouse

A super Hatteras of eighty feet plus, is always something special as this company has in the eighties dominated the high part of the market back in the days.  Come luxury tax in the nineties and Hatteras has in latest years not build much super yachts over one hundred feet.  The Hatteras 100 Raised Pilothouse is a return from the World famous Carolina boat builder in building a one hundred foot super yacht.  As recent Hatteras in the Motor Yachts range the 100 Raised Pilothouse features an inspired European looking super structure, thanks to a collaboration with Italian designer Enrico Gobbi from Team for Design, though fair to say the hull still looks US with its flared bow, and reverse shear line in the middle.  From the order book the 100 Raised Pilothouse offers some interesting options to the buyer from a master stateroom to fore deck or amidships, or optional tender garage to aft.  In total the new Hatteras flagship offers a total of seven layouts; two for the flybridge, three for the main deck, and two for below cabin area arrangements.  Power is twin Cat 1900 as standard, or optional 2600hp MTU.

Improve-it = Hatteras 80 Motor Yacht

Waiting for its new flagship 100 RPH to become a reality, Hatteras decided well to update and tweak its current largest model, the 80 Motor Yacht.  There are many differences which distinct this new generation 80 Motor Yacht from its predecessor from sleeker side view windows in the full beam midships located owners stateroom, to a fore deck settee, and a leaner stern with the option of an up and down bathing platform.  Three total options characterize the 80 Motor Yacht in the layout, from the choice of an optional Skylounge, to two versions of the guest cabins plan.  Both of which four cabins and the main difference of having two heads one of which takes place of the walking wardrobe in the standard plan.

Project: Hatteras 100 Raised Pilothouse

Hatteras updates the project for its new flagship now becoming the 100 Raised Pilothouse from 95.  Designed by Italian Angelo Gobbi and his T4 Design team, this extension came after the first full scale mock up was made of the 95, and with the input coming from the Hatteras dealers and selected clients a five foot extension at stern now giving a larger aft deck, and more spacious crew quarters was made.  As was the case for 95, the 100 keeps its strong points from a choice of owners room on the main or lower deck to midships, this giving five or four double guest cabins layouts.  The 100 Raised Pilothouse is also offered in three different flybridge choices; with one of the options offering a tender stowage up top, with the other being fully dedicated to entertainment areas.  Engine choices are unchanged for the new Hatteras 100 Raised Pilothouse flagship with standard twin 1900hp Cats giving 25 knots, and optional 2600hp MTU adding four digits to wide open throttle speeds.

Project: Hatteras 95 Raised Pilothouse

Hatteras Yachts is proud to announce plans for a new 95 Raised Pilothouse model set to debut in 2013.  The 95 Raised Pilot House will also be Hatteras new flagship.  The new 95 Raised Pilothouse brings styling cues from her classic lineage into the 21st century, and is designed to set the standard for Hatteras next generation of motor yachts.  To say it more frankly there is a bit more Europe in this new Hatteras flagship especially in the lines of the super structure, but also the windows for lower cabin area suggest bring this design influence.  The 95 Raised Pilothouse is available in four or five guest cabins, depending if one chooses a main stateroom on the main deck or as standard below to midships.  Crew accommodation is located aft, with two cabins sleeping four.  Factory layout alternatives are available for the main deck, and the flybridge.  Power for the 95 Raised Pilothouse will be twin Cats 1900hp as standard which will give a max speed of 25 knots, or optional MTU 2600hp which increase wide open throttle by 4 knots.

Project: Hatteras GT63 Enclosed Flybridge

Hatteras presents the project of the new GT63 Enclosed Flybridge which features a spacious area in replacement to the open bridge, with an optional interior stairwell. The massive helm station has room for up to three main touch-screen monitors as well as ancillary controls and communication equipment, and an elevated L-shaped lounge provides a commanding view in any direction. Aft of the enclosure is secondary helm station and bench seating with additional storage. As on the standard model, the GT63 Enclosed Flybridge provides a great deal of comfort throughout, and does so without compromising on performance.  Thanks to the upper Enclosed Flybridge, this GT63 should offer even more interior accommodation in the four cabins three heads, or three cabins three head layouts of the standard open bridge version. The Hatteras GT63 Enclosed Flybridge has a top end of 40 knots in a real-world environment when powered by twin CAT 1900hp.

New Model: Hatteras GT54

Hatteras continues to present its new line of convertibles with the fall 2010 baptized GT60. Now the Carolina boat builder follows it with a second model the new GT54 which will launch officially today at the Miami show. The new GT54 is based on the hull lines of the 54 Convertible which was already rated as one of the most seaworthy sport fish in her size, but a lot has changed from the water line above in this new model, which also has a new shear line and modified super structure design. Inside the new GT54 also offers more room with two interior plan choices, sleeping six or seven berths in a three cabins with two heads lower deck. The changes here occur in the VIP cabin to fore offered in a standard queen double bed, or optional three berth; two plus one layout. Worth to note is also the saloon on the main deck, which is now a flush floor plan offering two L-shaped sofas, and galley. Power for the Hatteras GT54 is a standard of two Cats 1150hp, or optional 1600hp. New Model: Hatteras GT60

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show was the the place where Hatteras presented its new GT60. The first installment in the Hatteras GT Series, the 60 is the fore runner of an exciting family of tournament class convertibles designed for serious anglers. Two further projects a 54, and a 63 are scheduled to launch in beginning of the coming 2011 year. Hatteras says that the GT60 is the culmination of fifty years in convertible design and propulsion development, combined with the latest technological advances in materials and methods utilized in fiberglass construction. The new Hatteras GT60 takes its exterior design cues from the current 60, but a newly redesigned cockpit and a touch of panache added to the overall looks give it a unique style of her own. The interior accommodations found in the GT60 are not only more open, but are designed with a level of sophistication not often found in a convertible. Hatteras also offers the option of three lower deck layouts one of which is a four double cabin plan, galley down choice, and an enclosed bridge option. Larger window framing allows for better views, and beautifully combined wall coverings and exotic woods create a more open layout while continuing to provide a warm and luxurious environment. But what is most noticeable about the GT60 is its performance, and as promised by Hatteras this is a forty knot boat as was the special GT Series Edition of the now replaced 60 Convertible model. In fact with the large twin Cats 1900hp power this is the speed of the new GT60 a fast forty knots, which goes down to four nautical miles in all time cruise mode.
Technical Data:

Projects: Hatteras GT54, Hatteras GT63

Hatteras presents the projects of two new models which show the expanding of the new GT line, which will start with the launching of the GT60 this coming fall. Pictured above is the first of these new projects what will be the lightest, smallest of the Hatteras line the GT54. A completely new model versus the 54 Convertible which decreases a couple inches of overall length, but increases beam by over a feet versus the model it replaces. The beam addition adds space to the GT54 having a three double cabins with two heads lower deck. Construction continues Hatteras resin infusion method build which reduces weight and adds strength. The GT54 keeps on its Carolina style with a smooth shear line, dynamic bow flare, and a foredeck carefully balanced with the low super structure. Hull shape is the Hatteras convex bow variable Vee with deep propeller pockets aft. Power is from twin Cat engines with a standard 1150hp or optional 1600hp. This later option giving a 41 knots top speed. Hatteras design project team has been very busy lately and in less of a year time a total of three new models should be presented. The GT63 project pictured above is in my understanding a replacement of the 64 Convertible, although in the press release I received this does not say. If compared with the 64 the GT63 adds sixteen centimetres of more beam, looses the large hull view windows to mid ship, and will feature a standard four cabins three shower heads layout. The looks of the GT63 by the rendering above show also a more classic taste also thanks to the wooden stern, and a more higher bow. Hatteras has always approached a modern global Carolina design but always with a clean distinction like a soft bow flare, and a smooth shear line. Power which is an important part of the new GT series goes again above the forty plus barrier with the large Cats 1900hp option doing 41 knots of max and a 36 cruise. Another strong data of the new GT models is a 400 NM range. Unveiling of the GT63 is set for the 2011 Miami show in February. www.hatterasyachts.com

Project: Hatteras 60GT

During the just passed Miami Yacht show, Hatteras announced a new sportfish yacht project slated for debut this years fall. The 60GT project is the latest in fifty years convertible design and propulsion development from Hatters, combined with the use of technological advances in materials and methods utilized in fiberglass construction by this legendary Carolina builder. The Hatteras 60GT takes its exterior design cues from the current 60 Convertible, but a newly redesigned cockpit and a touch of panache give the new 60GT a unique style of her own. The interior accommodations found in the 60GT are not only more spacious to the current Convertible, but are designed with a level of sophistication not often found in a Sportfish Yacht. Sleeping accommodation is for three stateroom all with independent shower heads. Larger window framing is also found on the main deck in the saloon allowing for better views, and combine with wall coverings and exotic woods to create a more open layout while continuing to provide a warm and luxurious environment. The 60GT also get its numbers following and surpassing the current 60 Convertible optional “GT Tournament Edition” package. This GT upgrade included larger engines and additional weight savings which created a forty plus knots boat. With its lightweight build combined with an aggressively efficient propulsion design, the new 60GT is designed to perform at an elevated level, providing increased efficiency whether cruising or tournament fishing. Power to the 60GT will be by twin Cat engines from 1600 up to 1800hp with line shaft propulsion in semi tunnels. Perhaps the biggest surprise of it all here is the missing option with ZF Zeus pods having a 60 Convertible named QuadZeus been a prototype tester for this type of propulsion in the last months.

Improve-it = Hatteras 60 Motor Yacht

Hatteras continues the year-long celebration of its 50th Anniversary by making a stunning design debut at the 2010 Miami Boat Show. Already a popular model, the Hatteras 60 Motor Yacht underwent an intensive design review this past year. With input from dozens of Hatteras customers plus owners of competitive products, Hatteras totally redesigned the interior spaces and added square footage in the galley and salon with an innovative approach to layout and construction that makes this boat among the largest in its size motor yacht. The unique design theme that flows throughout the boat combines exotic woods with dual tone wall coverings and padded panels. This creates a continuous and open environment that leads you gracefully from the aft deck all the way to the full-beam master and beyond. These sweeping changes do not stop at the salon door. The Hatteras design team created a fresh new look for the exterior with minor tweaks to the window lines, and the elimination of the engine room vents in the hull side. The flybridge is also improved with a tinted windscreen and a modified deck layout to maximize entertainment space up above. The 60 Motor Yacht can now also be ordered with an extra of 270hp thanks to more powerful optional Cats C18 1135hp engines.

New Model: Hatteras 60 Motor Yacht

The Hatteras 60 Motor Yacht is a further development and replacement of the 56 from the same range which the North Carolina builder launched during its Expo in May 2008. The 60 Motor Yacht extends the length and adds about a metre in size, and 4000 kilos to the 56 with these new developments. The extra feet go aft adding more waterline length, and giving more space to the stern cockpit bathing platform area. This also gives the possibility to order a single crew cabin aft, which was unavailable on the 56. Thanks to the further extended hull and bathing platform the 60 Motor Yacht now has also a further tender space aft which with the flybridge davit option makes it possible to carry two small private water craft. For the remaining the 60 Motor Yacht is much the same as the 56 and at the same time improves it a notch. The interior is the same three double cabin with mid ship full beam master stateroom, VIP suite to fore, and double L-shaped third. The main deck is a full open plan and can have an optional lower helm. In total the 60 Motor Yacht offers seven different arrangement plans which are: three options for the flybridge, two for interior saloon, and two for the lower deck. Power is from twin Cummins QSM-11 705hp as standard, or the optional Cats C18 1000hp. Speed figures have not been announced by Hatteras but the 56 Motor Yacht used to reach 29 knots with the bigger Cats 1000hp option. The extra waterline length surely is a speed bonus for the longer 60 Motor Yacht but with it also came an extra of 4000 kilograms.

Presented as a project a year ago legendary yacht builder Hatteras launched the latest member to its fleet, the new 56 Motor Yacht during it's own Yacht Expo held in the end of May in New Bern. Smallest in size of it's motor yacht range, this new Hatteras incorporates an original design, spacious interior and intuitive features that make this an ideal boat for the owner-operator representing a new entry-level product for the thousands of boat owners who aspire to own a Hatteras. Boaters the world over appreciate the advanced design and robust construction that sets Hatteras apart from the fleet. The 56 Motor Yacht standard power is a pair of 705 hp Cummins QSM11s, installed in a V-drive configuration with the gearbox forward. This positions the engine room as far aft as possible and allows for more living space below. Combined with the boat's 18-foot 2-inch beam, this configuration gives the 56MY as much interior volume as many yachts in the mid-60-foot range. Powered by its standard engines, the 56 Motor Yacht is expected to achieve a cruising speed of 18 knots and top end of 21 knots. With her fuel tanks full, that provides a usable range of approximately 300 nautical miles. Optional 1,000-hp CAT C18s will push the 56 to a cruise of 26 knots and a top end of 29 knots. The 56MY features a three-stateroom, two-head arrangement that includes a 130 square-foot full-beam master stateroom amid ship, a VIP stateroom forward, and guest bunks to port. New Model: Hatteras 72 Motor Yacht

The new 72 Motor Yacht from Hatteras Yachts features traditional exterior lines with subtle contemporary styling for an overall effect that fits into today's marketplace while easily standing the test of time. This new model features a wider salon than comparable motor yachts on the market, yet it still retains side-deck access that makes the 72 Motor Yacht perfect for the owner operator. Down below, the 72 boasts a full-beam master stateroom with a his-and-hers head option, along with two luxurious guest rooms with a third available as an option. A clever aft compartment can be equipped as either a crew area or as a VIP guest room, creating a truly unique vessel in its size range. Built in Hatteras main facility in New Bern, N.C., the 72 Motor Yacht features a resin-infused hull, rather than one built up of layers of hand-laid fiberglass. The automated resin-infusion process produces a more uniform hull thickness from one hull to the next, as well as the most ideal glass-to-resin ratio. This one-two punch produces a boat that weighs significantly less because of the lowered resin content, while providing a more precise fit of bulkheads, stringers and other components for increased strength and durability. The solid fiberglass hull bottom includes beefy support for key areas such as the tunnels, shaft log and strut locations. Divinycell coring is infused into the hull sides, decks and superstructure to add stiffness and reduce weight. Wherever possible in the vessel's interior, lightweight components and materials are used to increase performance without sacrificing the structural integrity and soft ride that have been the hallmarks of Hatteras Yachts for more than 45 years. Because of this continued dedication to quality, the Hatteras 72 Motor Yacht will retain the five-year hull warranty that protects all Hatteras Yachts.
