Artificial Intelligence is considered the big thing of this decade, and for some of this century, a new technology designed to make our lives better. The impact of what is referred in short as AI, is not understood, but many say Artificial Intelligence is big as when the internet arrived in the nineties, television in the thirties, and telephone in the second half of the nineteen century.
But as humans go, we tend to make the good of inventions into bad ones, and the problems of AI are starting to show. From looking real but fake videos, to false wrong information, which many will say it cannot be not correct because it came from Artificial Intelligence.
As yachting goes it is very annoying to see looking very real fake videos on social media, of yacht accidents, but also other false interpretations. Browsing on Facebook some week ago, someone was marketing a flybridge yacht, using false AI photos which had nothing to do with the yacht in question. Imagine if you contacted this seller, and then you go see the yacht for real only to see a total different vessel. Data information, which many say an area AI cannot make mistakes, is also not so accurate. Again a couple of yacht designers said in a post on Facebook, that half of the information AI said about them was wrong.
For new boats the AI bug has not infected the marketing rooms as yet, though I can imagine its good use to show a rendering of a new project. Renderings as I said in the past had already reached a very accurate detail. But it is important that AI does not replace the real thing. A genuine raw walk around video made with a mobile phone without the professional theatrics, is still better then a fake Artificial Intelligence walk through.
Real is Real, and no Artificial Intelligence or accurate three dimension can replace it.
