A thirteen meter sportfish boat with one boater aboard and titled m/y Osprey was saved from a fire first and then a sinking at Downtown Marina, in Long Beach, California all this happening at around 18:30 of Thursday nineteen June. Long Beach Fire Department assisted the fire, saved the lone boater aboard, and after this also saved the sportfish boat from sinking. The fire department managed to stop the water intrusion, and after floating the boat, took it to a nearby dock for salvage. The cause of the blaze is not reported, though the water intrusion came from the fire damage in the engine room.
The sportfish boat in this sinking is Topaz 44 Flybridge as produced from 1987 to 1989 in four units. The 44 Flybridge replaced the 38 Flybridge and is Topaz largest build to date. A name mostly associated with express sportfish cruisers, the original Topaz was founded in North Carolina operating from 1975 to 1991, restarting operation under new ownership in 1999, and in New Jersey.
