A 22 meters Ferretti yacht in length with thirteen persons onboard had a fire and eventually burned down to the North of Civitavecchia in the Central Tirrenian sea at about 14:00 of 25 August. Departing Civitavecchia with thirteen persons onboard the Ferretti motor yacht was navigating to the North direction Porto Ercole, when a fire starting coming out from the engine room. The persons onboard the Ferretti rescued themselves onboard the tender, none of them reporting any injuries, with the Guardia Costiera Italian Coast Guard and Civitavecchia Vigili dell Fuoco fire fighting squad coming out to extinguish the fire and save the yacht. While succeeding in putting out the fire, the yacht eventually sank and was not saved.
The Ferretti in this fire is a 72 as designed by Giovanni Zuccon and produced from 1998 to 2002. The 72 was a replacement and soft evolution of the 70, and then replaced by the Ferretti 730.
