Fairline Sport Cruiser Partly Sinks in Poole Sandbanks

An eleven meter Fairline sport cruiser titled Hayley and with a couple onboard partly sank in Poole, Sandbanks in the South of England while it started to take on water and sinking on the evening of 21 July.  The circumstances of the accident are not fully reported, but rumours are calling for a stern drive failure.  The couple where rescued by the British RNLI coast guard, who after recusing the two persons and taking them to safety at the nearby Parkstone Yacht Club, cleared the sport cruiser from eventual pollution.  No injuries are reported from the sinking.
The boat in this accident is a Fairline Targa 40 as designed by Bernard Olesinski and produced from 2000 till 2007 in 299 units.   The Targa 40 was a replacement to the Targa 39, and was replaced by the Fairline Targa 38 Mk.II.
