A seven meter cuddy sport cruiser with two persons onboard crashed into the break wall of Sunset Bay, near Hanover Town Park, Irving, New York at about 02:25 early morning time of Monday fifth August. Chautauqua County sheriff deputies went to the scene only to find no one on and around the crashed boat. Seeing this the County Sheriff started a search with multiple agencies; Sunset Bay Fire Department, Lake Erie Beach Fire Department, Erie County Air One, Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team, and the Chautauqua County Navigation Unit. This search was called off after three hours as at 05:30 a forty year old who was passenger on the boat, and a 54 year old who was the helmsman were found. Both boaters reported minor injuries and left the scene, as Chautauqua County Sheriff has opened an investigation on the collision, which also include charges for leaving the scene without reporting the crash.
The cuddy cruiser in this collision is a Larson 235 Hampton as produced from 1996 to 1999. The 235 Hampton was a replacement to the 220 Hampton Cuddy and was replaced by the 220 Cabrio.
