Azimut Super Yacht Beaches in Fort Lauderdale Channel

A 35 meter Azimut super yacht titled m/y Rylax with George Town flag ended beached and stuck in low tide while navigating in Fort Lauderdale's New River channels on the late morning of Wednesday March 22.  According to some reports the Azimut super yacht was a bit unlucky as the tide was just going out when doing a tight corner manoeuvring in the channel.  The Azimut super yacht was later assisted by Sea Tow with no success in towing her to deeper waters up until higher tide came in.  News if the yacht sustained any damage is not reported.

M/y Rylax is an Azimut 116 from 2005.  Designed by Stefano Righini the 116 was presented in 2004 and produced till 2011 in 29 units.  Offering five double guest rooms and three crew cabins, the 116 was Azimut flagship at the time of launch, and its second largest build to that date following the 118 Penthouse from 1994. The Azimut 116 was replaced by the Grande 35 Metri in 2016.

Project: Nimbus 465 Coupe

Nimbus present the project for an upcoming new flagship the 465 Coupe, and with this enters in the segment of modern explorer cruisers with living aboard amenities.  Extending current length by two meters and measuring just under fifteen meters in overall length, the Nimbus 465 Coupe is designed by the Swedes builder chief designer Joacim Gustavsson with the project details showing a classic straight shear line and a moderate flared bow hull, with all upper structure giving a twist of modernity thanks to large all around windows.  For the main deck the 465 Coupe will offer an astern galley living, with dinette forward to port side of the helm station located opposite.  The lower deck features a three double cabins layout with an owners stateroom with en-suite shower head at midship, a forward double cabin, and a third cabin with bunks to starboard.  The Nimbus 465 Coupe is to be powered by twin Volvo 480hp with IPS propulsion, with top speeds up to 27 knots, and cruise speeds in the range of 24 to twenty knots.

New Model: Cheoy Lee CLB65

Cheoy Lee presents the CLB65, a flybridge motor yacht which represents a new entry point into CL Yachts’ line-up, with luxurious features inspired by her larger sister-ships. With standard twin 800hp Volvo engines with IPS pod pro propulsion the CLB65 can hit an impressive top end of 27 knots and cruise at a very respectable 21 knots. CLB65 comes fitted with multiple helm stations, one on the main deck and on the flying bridge, so that owner-operators have a choice of staying protected or fully enjoying the marine environment around them. Additionally, two wing control stations to either side of the aft deck are incredibly helpful when getting in and out of marinas. The CLB65 features an aft galley on the main deck layout, the first Cheoy Lee yachts with such a layout. With a hinged door and flip-up glass, the main deck can be fully opened. It’s an exciting development that makes food service to the salon or the cockpit equally easy, and helps make CLB65 an excellent entertainment platform. The salon has multiple seating options, including a large U-shaped settee forward and to port that will be a focal point for conversation. The CLB65 was imagined with volume and comfort in mind, to that end she is built on the same hull as the larger CLB72, with the same beam but shorter. The benefits of this choice are obvious to anyone who steps aboard, particularly in the full-beam en-suite midships master stateroom with extraordinary volume and remarkable natural light, followed by forepeak en-suite VIP with island-queen berth. A spacious guest stateroom to port has twin berths that are perfect for guests. All staterooms on the lower deck have opening port lights to enhance ventilation. Throughout the interior which can be finished in either walnut or hickory oiled veneers and a neutral color palette mean the CLB65 is effortlessly cool and timelessly stylish. As for outdoor entertainment spaces, the CLB65 has an expansive flybridge with everything needed for alfresco cruising, including multiple settees, a barbecue and wet bar at amidships, with a hardtop to provide shade for the whole proceeding. A foredeck lounge with a sun-pad provides a further entertainment area, and one which will provide much welcome privacy when this motor yacht is moored stern-to.

Projects: Azimut Seadeck 6, Azimut Seadeck 7

Azimut presents its new Seadeck series, a line of three sport yachts from seventeen to 24 meters full of hybrid and innovative technological solutions, aimed to reduce environmental impact with the Italian yacht builder saying to be its most ever green product to date reducing emissions by 40%.  Considering what Azimut-Benetti Group delivered in the past decade for fuel efficiency and green solutions, which confirms again, the importance of Research and Design for the World largest yacht builder.  The concept of the Seadeck is developed by Alberto Mancini, Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, with the last two names debuting in yachting design.  The Seadeck Series also features what Azimut calls the Fun Island, a spacious aft deck re-invented, with opening balconies which become a big terrace slash beach club on the water.  The first Azimut Seadeck is to be the above 6 model set to debut in January 2024 at the Dusseldorf boat show.  The Azimut Seadeck 6 will measure seventeen meters in length and will offer an interior layout of three double cabins, with a one berth crew cabin.  The Seadeck 6 is to be powered with triple Volvo 380hp and up to 480hp engines, with IPS propulsion which will give speeds up to 33 knots.

The second model to come of the Azimut Seadeck is the 7, a 21 meter sport yacht with four double cabins plus one crew cabin for two persons. Unlike the smaller 6, the Seadeck 7 is to be powered by twin Volvo 900hp with IPS pod propulsion with top speeds up to thirty knots.  The Azimut Seadeck 7 is to debut in beginning September 2024 at the Cannes boat show.  In all Azimut Seadeck, the set up will debut the Volvo innovative hybrid solution.  Azimut has so far sold ten Seadeck 6, and five Seadeck 7 on plan, with the still under wraps flagship of the range Seadeck 8 set to debut in January 2025 at the Dusseldorf boat show.

Formula New Web Site

Formula Boats presents its new website virtual World wide showroom. The story of this famous builder starts with the founding of Thunderbird by Woodie Woodson in 1956, Duo. Inc in 1958 by Victor Porter in Indiana, and the original Don Aronow Formula in 1962 and the launch of the 233 in the same year.  The Aronow Formula 233 is still as at today regarded as a history making model for Offshore racing, and the Deep Vee hull. These three protagonist of the time; Thunderbird, Porter and Formula finally become one in 1973. and the current Formula set up continues as at today thanks to the Porter legacy who take full hold of the company in 1976.  Other important steps in the history of Formula are the appointment of John Adams as designer in 1971, who as at today is still leading design of all models.  Competitions have also been a trademark of Formula and the brand, excluding the milestone that was the 233 in the sixties, has the following recent heritage; 1986 a 302 SR-1 wins B-Class Southeast Divisional Championship and sets a new UIM record, 2001 and 2002 winners of Mercury constructors cup, 2003 World and National Offshore Champions, and in 2006 U-7 Formula Unlimited Hydroplane takes first in ABRA National High Points. Classic Bertram Catches Fire in Biscayne Bay

A classic Bertram sixteen meter sportfish yacht with three people onboard went ablaze near the Coral Gables Waterway in Biscayne Bay, Miami on the afternoon of Saturday March eighteen.  Coral Gables Police Department spotted the smoke first and assisted the three people onboard, while Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Miami Fire Rescue went to the scene to put out the flames.  According to reports no one was grievously injured, and the causes of the fire are unknown.  The condition of the Bertram yacht after the fire is unknown, though in the videos online the fire looks extensive, and most probably is a wreck.

The Bertram in this fire is the Dave Napier designed 54 launched in 1981 and produced till 2001 and sold in over 130 units.  A modern classic since launch the Bertram 54 had in those twenty years three versions, the first version up to 1985 is recognizable by the central pillar in the side windows, from 1997 it had a soft exterior refresh and interior by Faggoni from Italy.  The Bertram 54 was replaced by the 570 in 2002 which used the same hull with a new design outside and inside by Zuccon.

New Model: Ava Kando110

Ava yachts presents its Kando110 explorer looking super yacht, constructed with a high-grade steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Designed inhouse Kando110 is characterised by class-beating in size volume of 320GT and a range of 6400 nautical miles. and features four decks with an accommodation layout offering five double guest cabins including a full beam, 27 sqm owner’s Master stateroom with full-height windows located in the forward area of the main deck. The main deck and upper deck lounges are both a generous 48 sqm with the upper deck lounge boasting a full beam layout with full height window glass, truly bringing the outside in.  Both lounges are provided with curved, polished stainless steel framed automatic sliding doors. Project: Riva 54 Metri

Riva announces the sale of the first 54 Metri, an new all-aluminium Superyacht under construction at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Division in Ancona. This will be the largest Riva ever built, an incredibly beautiful superyacht surpassing the 50 Metri delivered in two units in 2019 and 2021 respectively. The Riva 54 Metri is a new benchmark for the world’s most prestigious boating brand with the yard feeling extremely proud to announce the contract signing for the first unit. Featuring 54 meters of elegance combined with sleek, sporty lines and generous spaces designed to give guests the ultimate onboard experience of relaxation and comfort, Riva 54 Metri is in tune with the unique style that is the distinguishing feature of all Riva models and draws on the brand’s stylistic hallmarks in recent years, such as the typical counter-curvature of the windows and the use of chiaroscuro to create plays of light and texture. New Model: Holterman X-treme 78 Sport

The Dutch Holterman had a busy start of the year launching two new X-Treme models in succession.  The Holterman X-treme 78 Sport is the largest of these models and follows the launch of the 105 flagship launched in 2022.  Designed by Bernd Week for exterior and Kitty van der Kamp for the interior the Holterman X-treme 78 Sport is a different design to other sport yachts, looking utilitarian and rugged thanks to the forward looking windshield forward but in the same time modern and into the future due to not ordinary curved lines.  Build in aluminium the Holterman X-treme 78 Sport offer a four double cabins lower deck, with a main deck offering an astern galley with dining table for six opposite and a lounging sofa to starboard behind the helm station.  The Holterman X-treme 78 Sport is powered by twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS pod propulsion reaching speeds up to 32 knots, which is an impressive four knots more to the one anticipated in project.
