Project: Absolute 58 Navetta

Absolute went to this years Dusseldorf boat show with an important showcasing of its soon to come future plans. Among the forthcoming important new models in the horizon of the Italian builder was the 58 Navetta, a project for a semi displacement seventeen meter explorer yacht. This project also marked Absolute entry into the explorer segment and should be followed by a smaller model more or less a year after it's release. Absolute declared that unlike other builders for its 58 Navetta its started with a clean sheet, and in this created a medium range explorer yacht with a modern layout in design and fittings. Worth to note that while the 58 Navetta starts from a fresh stamp it follows other Absolute's by being propelled with IPS pod drives, the propulsion which moves all the Italian builder models from forty to 72 feet. The accommodation plan of the 58 Navetta is quite impressive and will feature three guest cabins all with a private shower head, this including a full beam amidships owners stateroom. To aft is a crew cabin for two with a private shower head. An important note is also the little horse-power the 58 Navetta will have which is twin Volvo 435hp engines. www.absoluteyachts.com

Project: Baglietto 54M

2014 is going to be a very special year for Baglietto, the historical shipyard based in La Spezia, which was founded in 1854 and is therefore celebrating its 160 years. The new year has indeed started with an important success, with the signature of a new order for a 54m steel and aluminium displacement yacht, designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design. which is expected to be delivered to her European Owner in summer 2015. The new 54m yacht draws inspiration from Baglietto’s well-established product line of 53m crafts, like the Blue Scorpion, the Gitana and the Baraka, but features renovated volumes and restyled lines which follow the style of the new production signed by Francesco Paszkowski Design: a combination of geometric shapes and very sleek, sinuous exterior lines, while the very streamlined bow reminds of Nordic boats. Two Caterpillar engines allow this yacht to reach a maximum speed of approximately 17 knots and a cruising speed of 13.

Project: Sunseeker 57 Predator

Just launching its new 155 Yacht flagship Sunseeker seems to make the 2014 year one to remember for its fans, by presenting important models in various sizes. The 57 Predator is a project which should launch at the fall of this year, and evolves the brands semi custom concept in its smaller models. So choice is the word in the new Sunseeker especially to what regard the main deck. The 57 Predator will in-fact have an option to have this with an open hard top layout, or with a patio door which splits the area. In both choices the lower deck remains unchanged with two large cabins; owners stateroom amidships, VIP to fore, small bunk two berths third cabin, L-shaped galley, and a medium sized L-shaped dinette. A single berth crew cabin will be available to aft. Power for the 57 Predator will be from twin Cats 715hp, and go up the options list to MAN 800hp, and Volvo 900hp. blogger - European Design

It's been a growing standard since the eighties, and European and Italian design has been a changing moving forward factor to the looks and layout plans of cruising motor boats. The Americans at first snob out this design but then in the nineties they started to adapt the more curved euro looks, with the plans of the boats staying much with the American of open form in-order for space to look more abundant.
But then Genmar seeing the success of some European brands in the North America's created the Marquis brand, and recently Sea Ray joined this ship. See recent 350 Sundancer, 510 Fly and its just launched flagship the L650 Fly all pure European contenders. The L650 Fly is an impressive machine for it size offering a spacious plan see four cabins with no bunks and including a full beam amidships owners cabin. Its open plan galley and exterior spaces are also among the best in size especially to what regards the flybridge and fore deck arrangements.
These new latest Sea Ray are so much European that if anybody change's the badge to Raggio di Mare Italian translation to Sea Ray you would think they where a totally new brand made in Italy. It's fair to compete with Europe but is it worth to loose a long term identity for it. Some Sea Ray lovers might be gutted for this but it will be interesting to see the long term development of the American brand.
