New Model: Tornado 45s

In 2022 and during the Venice boat show held in May, Tornado presented the new 45s model.  An evolution of the 45 model launched in 1995 to a design of Tom Fexas, and which subsequently two years later won the Venice-Montecarlo 1997 in her class.  The 45 has  been a long success for Tornado thanks to its economic to run standard stern drive propulsion and clean timeless Fexas design.  Recognizable by the higher wrap around extended further aft windshield the new Tornado 45s is also redesigned in the cockpit deck.  Now becoming more comfortable and functional with a passageway to starboard and the aft sun-pad and C-shaped dinette resting to port side.  The old Tornado 45 had an island sun-pad aft wrapped around in a fiberglass moulding which used the full beam, a forward facing bench settee and helm station co-pilot settees forward. The cabin of the Tornado 45s has also been reworked and now features two cabins; an aft cabin sleeping two, and a master double berth forward.  The new Tornado 45s is powered by Volvo 380hp with stern drive propulsion as standard delivering a top speed up to forty knots.  Other engine options include larger 440hp Volvo with the same stern drive set up, or FPT 570hp with surface drives which give an estimated fifty knots top speed.

Project: Wally Why100

The forward-thinking Wally has revealed the first details of the new model why100, a bold and unique product that successfully integrates into the WallyWhy range. The exterior design and naval architecture of the WallyWhy100 was created by the experienced Wally-Ferretti Group Engineering team, with Studio A. Vallicelli responsible for the interior design. As a crossover product, the yacht fulfils the need for a more voluminous cruiser in the sub 21 meter range, combining all of the qualities of a sport yacht coupĂ© boat with the benefits of the WallyWhy volume. Much like the larger WallyWhy150 and Why200 models, the WallyWhy100 establishes a strong connection between the outside and inside. In contrast to many vessels of this size that divide the layout into different levels to create the illusion of more space, the Wally team doubled down on a one-level, stern-to-bow approach. This results in a hybrid area on the main deck level which can either be enjoyed closed or fully open to enable relaxed al-fresco dining. Other standout features on board include the enormous 14sqm beach area, which is home to a large hydraulic platform for launching and retrieving tenders and toys up to 3.6m in length. A hydraulic passarelle/swim ladder ensures easy access both to and from the dock as well as from the water. Naturally, the Wally beach area is completed by its enormous folding wings that not only increase the space by almost 50% but also deliver unobstructed 180-degree views. The full-beam master cabin is located at midships. The cabin’s ensuite is made from electrically regulated glass, meaning it can be either fully transparent to enlarge the room or opaque when in use, a first for a sub- 21 meter  yacht. In addition, the wide array of closet and storage also make this cabin unique in its class, with the side windows offering uninterrupted views of the outside. The theme continues throughout the other two guest cabins, with a total of six people accommodated on board. A VIP stateroom on the port side and a twin on the starboard side both have dedicated en-suites and large windows, enabling the rooms to be flooded by natural light. The crew are also well looked after on board the WallyWhy100. As a feature seldom seen in this size range, dedicated crew access is provided both from the main deck and from the lower deck, without having to cross into guest spaces. Notably too, taking its cue from the WallyPower world, the forward deck of the Why100 features a dedicated, multi-use lounge that can be transformed into an aperitivo area with an elevated table in the middle or into a sunlounge by lowering the table to seating height. This transformable area creates all-purpose living space for guests both at anchor and on the move. In terms of propulsion, Wally has opted for  twin Volvo 1000hp with IPS forward looking pod propulsion with cruising speeds of 24 knots and top speeds up to 27 knots in the upgraded IPS1350 specs.

M/y Baca a 43 meter super yacht under Cayman Islands flag collided with the bridge entrance to Simpson Bay in Sint Marteen at about 1700 hours of eight January.  Baca hit the bridge controlling boot on the way into Simpson bay damaging its fore-bow starboard side in the collision.  According to the Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority which manages the bridge, the booth suffered damage to its structure and its wiring, with it being not operational till 0830 hours of the following morning.  No one was injured in the accident, with the wind being a possible cause of the accident.  The extent of the damage to the yacht has not been reported.
M/y Baca the yacht in this accident is a Danish build Royal Denship 143 model delivered in 2008 as m/y Triple 8.  Designed by Diana from Holland with interior by Michela Reverberi, this Royal Denship 143 semi-series was delivered in just another unit, with the second hull number delivered in 2009.  Royal Denship was a group of six shipyards; Aarhus, Assens, Danyard, Fayard, and Tuco which went bankrupt in April 2009.

Project: Jeanneau DB/37

After the entrance of the DB/43 in 2022 Jeanneau acts quick to extend the line and present the project for a two meter smaller DB/37 set to be presented in a months time come end January at the 2023 Dusseldorf boat show.  Like the bigger 43 foot sister the DB/37 is a project of Camillo Garroni for lines and interior with Michael Peters doing naval architecture.  A centre console walk around sport cruiser the DB/37 can cater for multiple uses from a party-boat to a day-cruiser or that of a weekender.  At this stage beside the above rendering information for the DB/37 is very limited, but these designs can show that the small DB like the bigger sister will offer opening aft bulk heads extending aft deck space at anchor.  So expect very similarities to the bigger DB/43 in a smaller package.

Sealine Yacht Stolen and Aground in Bahamas

A fifteen meter Sealine motor yacht ended aground in Treasure Cay, Great Abaco, The Bahamas on the morning of first January.  According to reports the Sealine yacht was stolen from a yacht marina in Abaco, and was then found aground in Treasure Cay.  Boat and yacht stealing with these then being used for smuggling seems to be common in the area at this moment, especially since the Marina was badly damaged by Hurricane Dorian in September 2019, with the owner dying some months later, and the sons wanting to sell.
This Sealine yacht was still aground in the same position as of end March.
The Sealine in this grounding is a T51 model released in 1999 and produced till 2004 to a design of Bill Dixon, offering three double cabins, a twin berth crew cabin aft and top speeds up to 32 knots with twin Volvo 715hp.  When released the T51 was Sealine flagship, with the model evolving into the T52 in 2005 with a profile windows changing looks and other layout changes.
