Project: Lazzara LSX 67

Lazzara presented this project as a 65 in 2019 and now it has modified it to become the LSX 67.  The most apparent changes comes from the hard-top which is a bit more extended.  The Lazzara LSX 67 will feature a fold away extendable aft deck, which when opened up at anchor becomes a beach club.  The LSX 67 will offer a three double cabins layout with a master suite at midships and direct access from the beach club.  A single berth cabin for a crew is located to port side.  The Lazzara LSX 67 is to be powered with Volvo 900hp or optional 1000hp with IPS pod drives, with top speeds estimates up to forty knots.  A Lazzara LSX 67 is under construction and is planned to be launched in Summer.

New Model: Ferretti 1000

Ferretti launch the much awaited new 1000 model in Cattolica, with this first unit ordered by a French customer.  The 1000 supersedes the 960 as the largest yacht ever built by Ferretti, outside and excluding the semi-custom Customline brand.  The launch represents the culmination of a design process driven by the quest for perfection: extraordinary investments in Research and Development, thousands of hours of naval design, long-term mould prototyping at the Plug and Mould factory in Forlì, and the equally long and delicate construction phase at the Cattolica shipyard. The result is a remarkable new flagship made up of talent and technology, the ability to innovate and craftsmanship.  Majestic, versatile and suited to all markets, Ferretti Yachts 1000 reshapes space and changes the whole approach to life on board with unprecedented design solutions and an interior mood in Classic style, featuring soft, balanced colour tones and subtle contrasts. At the heart of the project is the idea of unparalleled comfort and wellbeing in both outdoor and indoor areas, where quintessential ‘Made in Italy’ taste prevails. The suavely understated design, featuring clean lines and sophisticated materials, conveys a sense of refined luxury and is the ideal interpretation of the values expressed by the “Just Like Home” claim: comfort, Italian style, timeless design and craftsmanship.  While only just unveiled, Ferretti Yacht s 1000 looks set to be a huge success and the first three units have already been sold.  Ferretti Yachts 1000 is the result of collaboration between the Product Strategy Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari, the Ferretti Group Engineering Department, architect Filippo Salvetti for the exteriors and Ideaeitalia for the new interior concept.

Classic Flybridge Cruiser Sinks in San Benedetto del Tronto

A thirteen meter wooden flybridge motor cruiser sank in the Tronto river just around half a nautical mile away from the coast of the Adriatic sea, on the morning of tenth April. The seventies build Italian motor cruiser was boarded by two persons who according to some reports purchased her a couple of days before and where taking delivery of the vessel.  Apparently the motor cruiser hit a tree trunk and suffered hull damage, which led to its sinking.  The two persons called an SoS and while a rescue was deployed by the coast guard, they where rescued by a pleasure vessel who was in the area at the time of the sinking.
The thirteen meter motor cruiser which sank in this accident is an Itama 145, built up until the end seventies.  The Itama 145 was the entry level model of Mario Amati wooden flybridge motor cruiser and yacht range, prior to him changing to the fiberglass open sport cruiser and yacht line in the eighties which proved to be a successful move.  The wooden custom range featured two other larger models, the 160 and 180, with the smaller 145 proving to be the most popular of the line up.

Project: Baglietto 41m Superfast

Baglietto announces the signature of a new order for a 41m Superfact yacht designed by Francesco Paszkowski.  Superfast 41 will be Baglietto's hull no. 10242, who can celebrate yet another achievement, just after the sale of the second DOM 133, revealed recently.  41n Superfast will be an aluminium build fast open super sport yacht, with both interiors and exteriors designed by Francesco Paszkowski Design.  The yacht features a bold, streamlined profile, with the champagne shade of the hull making her beauty even more striking. All cabins have been arranged on the lower deck: the master cabin is located amidships, the VIP cabin also a double can be found forward, while the two guest cabins have single beds that can easily slide and be converted into double beds. On the same deck, closer to the stern, are the crew quarters. Located beside the engine room and conveniently accessible directly from the main deck, they include the captain’s cabin and two double cabins for the crew, as well as the galley with dinette. The aft garage, which opens on one side, is used to store a tender.  The main deck has been devised in such a way as to ensure a harmonious continuum between interior and exterior areas. Two sliding doors, one located aft and the other on a side, provide access to the dining area and to the conversation area of the main salon. The latter is brightened by the natural light flowing through two ceiling-high windows, which also ensure a wonderfully close contact with the sea even when living indoors. The pilot station can be found forward of the main salon. The outdoor aft cockpit hosts a lounge area, while the sunbathing area on the aft swimming platform is perfect to relax by the sea. Another sunbathing area and a second conversation area have been set up at the extreme bow of this modern, impressively functional yacht.  A second pilot station, with a pleasant relaxation area just behind it, can be found on the fly bridge.  Fitted with three MTU engines, 41m Superfast will reach an impressive maximum speed of 33 knots and a cruising speed of 28.  She will be classified with ABS and is expected to be delivered in 2023.

Crew Abandons Heavy Lift Ship Cargo Vessel

On Monday fifth April at around 1500 hours local time sixty miles West of Alesund, Norway eight crew members out of twelve abandoned the heavy lift ship cargo vessel M/V Eemslift Hendrika after stormy seas caused part of its cargo to shift, making it lift heavily to starboard and very difficult to manovre, and in danger of capsizing.  On the following day the remaining captain and three crew also abandoned the vessel, leaving it unattended.  One of the ships being carried, has also been reported being discharged into the sea.  Eemslift Hendrika departed Bremerhaven, Germany and was bound Kolvereid, Norway.  On eight April two tug boats and crew onboard managed to secure, and tow the vessel to Alesund harbour in Norway.
MV Eemslif Hendrika is a ship cargo veseel build in 2015 often used to carry yachts.  In this case the vessel had only two pleasure yachts a racing sloop and a Windy 58 Zephyros.
The Windy 58 Zephyros was launched in the fall of 2003 to a design of Hans Jorgen Johnsen.  The 58 Zephyros was Windy's flaghship for a long time  and was produced until 2012. It offered accommodation with a fully enclosed hard-top main deck and three guest cabins sleeping six below deck.  The Windy 58 Zephyros is powered by twin Man or Caterpillar 800hp giving her top speeds up to 38 knots.  As of today she is still the largest Windy every build but the currently under construction SLR/SR 60 will change this.

What a Virtual Launch

The all virtual launch for the new Azimut 53 is something to admire and compliment.  It was so good that in a World after Covid-19 I hope to see more of this in the future, and this includes the pre-launch three chapters; Instinct, Flair, and Creativity detailing the project.

To be true to history this is not the first time Azimut did a launch like this, with the known Italian marquee doing something similar, in two other important new launches, that of the Magellano 74 in 2009, and in 2012 for the 55S.  Both of which where also excellent and represented a turn around for the company.  But this new 53 had something better to the other two ground breaking models, which was in my opinion the Official Digital Unveil, which tops in quality, visuals, and description of the product.  The presenter Justin Ratcliffe and the location for the launch help not little to make all this a surreal experience.

Other competitive builders should take note, and while we have seen similar quality launches in the past from the likes of the Ferretti Group, and Princess, I think the perfection of execution that was made for the Azimut 53 is something to take notes of.
