Unexpected Boom

With all that 2020 has been so far, one would have expected the boating market to be in the worse situation ever.  But with the opening of lock downs in around May, the opposite started to happen, and boating sales have been very strong since then.  In some countries it looks like we are back in 2004 with sales being very strong.
Brokerage used boats have not been so strong since many years, and new boat sales and orders are strong with many high profile international names saying 2021 is sold out in most models.  Many marinas are also reporting that they have not been so busy in years, and the same goes for the fuel docks in the major Mediterranean areas.
This is an unexpected turn of events, especially if you see that in the media many see 2020 as the year of a global economic depression.  So what has made boating whether the 2020 Covid year storm so far in the positive.
I think the reply is Social Distancing and how a boat gives the freedom and independence few other leisure activities can offer.  Let's be fair that when you are free from the mooring lines and start cruising, even if it is for a swim couple miles away, or for a cruise around some nice new localities hundred miles away the sense of freedom and own control a boat gives has no comparison to anything else.
Boating and yachting has many attractions but possibly the strongest one is that of total liberty and control that no other activity can give.

-pic of the month- Fairline Backed by RiverRock Fund

Fairline Backed by RiverRock Fund

Luxury British motor yacht manufacturer, Fairline Yachts, announces the RiverRock European Opportunities Fund II has acquired a majority stake in the business.  Following a successful partnership over the past 11 months, RiverRock has demonstrated its ongoing support and confidence in Fairline by committing to a significant capital investment program that secures the boat builder’s financial future following the turbulence created by the global Corona Virus pandemic. Messrs Glyanenko and Volov welcome the investment from RiverRock and whilst maintaining a financial interest in Fairline, will be focusing on their core businesses which have been substantially impacted by both the Covid-19 pandemic and the oil price shock of recent months. Chief Operating Officer of Fairline Yachts, Peter McNulty, says, “By taking a majority stake in the business, RiverRock is demonstrating its continued support and confidence in Fairline. The investment secures our financial future and ensures we can continue the roll-out of our long-term strategic plan for the brand.  “As announced previously, the company has made some tough decisions to right-size the business as a result of the current extremely challenging market conditions. This has better positioned the company and aligns it more closely with our strategic plans both in terms of product and regional growth. The new investment from RiverRock provides us with the capital and execution ability we needed to fulfil these long-term growth plans.”  Peter continues, “The Corona Virus pandemic has put additional pressure on all businesses and RiverRock’s investment means we can continue our exciting and highly innovative new product development program, which is critical for the sustained growth of the business and to meet our discerning buyers’ requirements.”  Jason Carley, Senior Portfolio Manager at RiverRock, adds, “We are pleased to take the next step on our partnership journey with Fairline Yachts. We firmly believe in the team at the helm and the strength of the brand. We appreciate Alex and Igor’s significant investment over the last four years and our additional investment will now support Fairline to grow and will enable the company to keep doing what it does best – building exquisitely designed, hand crafted boats made in Great Britain.”  With this new investment, the future is clear for Fairline Yachts to strengthen its position in the global marketplace and retain its place as a leading British boat manufacturer.

Ferreti Group YourPrivateIsland Advertising Campaign

Spending the summer on a boat, in total privacy, experiencing maximum freedom while relaxing and socialising, inspired by an island of serenity and beauty. That’s the creative concept behind the Ferretti Group's campaign proposing a wonderful escape to the many limitations in place on dry land at present, with the ethos underpinned by a high-impact hashtag: “#YourPrivateIsland”. The digital advertising campaign, which will run throughout the summer on lifestyle and trade media channels, was created in collaboration with Ars Media of Turin, under the creative direction of Silvia Amici and her team, as well as the website project, later developed by Prose. In the text accompanying the campaign, the “WHAT IF” concept explores the possibility of doing something out of the ordinary, with fewer limitations and more freedom – as our new normal continues to change and evolve on a daily basis. The #YourPrivateIsland hashtag provides the perfect answer, positioning the Ferretti Group’s yachts as private islands – only better. The visuals feature evocative images and focus on enticing shots of nature, alluding to an immersive experience of relaxation and conviviality. Meanwhile, completing the campaign is a website which delves deeper into these values and looks at the unique experiences to be had on board. The stars of the “#YourPrivateIsland” campaign are the eight brands in the Group – Wally, Ferretti Yachts, Pershing, Itama, Riva, Mochi Craft, CRN, Custom Line – and of course the stunning yachts, which provide a way to enjoy the summer exactly the way you want to, free from restrictions, on board your own “private island”. It promises to be a fruitful investment in personal well being and safety The key concepts of the campaign include intimacy and conviviality, unrestricted freedom on board inimitable icons of Italian design and the unique opportunity to explore breath-taking scenery. It serves as an invitation to imagine a dream lifestyle – one that can become a reality thanks to these masterpieces of yacht design. Each model featured in the campaign conveys the values and stunning creativity of the brands of the Ferretti Group, a world leader in the international yacht industry which works tirelessly to make dreams come true for shipowners and enthusiasts.

Ferretti Group Lights the Mediterranean Coast

Ferretti Group destinations are dream locations dedicated to the good life, adding extra magic to the summer of anyone passionate about navigating the Mediterranean Sea. Under the banner of the new #YourPrivateIsland campaign, recently launched as an invitation to enjoy a summer of privacy and well-being aboard the magnificent boats produced by the brands belonging to the Group, these spaces welcome shipowners and visitors in idyllic, convivial settings where the star of the show is quintessentially Italian nautical design. Take Waterfront Costa Smeralda, for example, where Ferretti Group has created a seafront VIP Lounge, perfect for relaxing for a few hours, and the Riva temporary store, a haven of high-end shopping. Shipowners can access exclusive benefits and bespoke experiences courtesy of some truly exceptional partners, such as You Marina gourmet sushi, the Phi Beach Club – which has an exclusive partnership with the Wally brand for the nautical sector – and the British automobile manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover, which offers a convenient test drive and courtesy car service, as well as the chance to enjoy a refined tasting experience at its Defender Privée. The Ferretti Group VIP Lounge and the Riva temporary store will be open until Sunday 6 September, every day from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am. Another unmissable destination is the Ibiza Pershing Yacht Terrace, a unique cocktail bar located in the heart of the luxurious, five-star 7Pines Kempinski Ibiza. Created by Pershing architects and designers in accordance with the style and values that make the range unique, the terrace is the perfect place to relax and sip on fabulous cocktails as you enjoy the views of the magical rocky island of Es Vedrà. The stunning Riva Lounge on the terrace of The Gritti Palace in Venice is a place renowned for its exceptional hospitality and breath-taking beauty. The use of Riva furniture creates a unique atmosphere, while the views of the Grand Canal and the beautiful Santa Maria della Salute Cathedral complete the experience. Guests have access to an Aquariva Super boat, “Il Doge”, which is moored outside the building, making the Riva Brand Experience in Venice all the more exclusive. The crystal-clear water of the Croatian coast provides the perfect backdrop for the Riva Lounge and Privée in Opatija, creating a sophisticated setting for relaxing or enjoying a drink while taking in the breath-taking views. The Ikador Hotel also offers an exclusive private boat service featuring a magnificent Aquariva Super model. For those mooring up in Formentera, there can be no better place to go than the Riva Privée at the “Molo 47” restaurant. It is a sophisticated and elegant space, where light becomes the star of the show thanks to the gorgeous shadows created by the curtains, while the interior design features unique nautical detailing: the use of aquamarine cushions, chrome, steel and lacquered mahogany evoke images of the iconic yachts and 1950s style synonymous with La Dolce Vita, instantly transporting guests into the magical world of Riva.

Fraucher Gets Three Figures

A big milestone for the Frauscher shipyard from Ohlsdorf, Austria: The hull number 100 of the 1017 GT left the modern shipyard at the lake Traunsee.  It’s in order to offer its buyer on Majorca in the future all that is needed for a day on the sea: Style, performance, clean and tidy layout combined with high-quality materials and functions. The 1017 GT enjoys great popularity among Frauscher customers. And rightly so: with a top speed up to 60 knots, a modern deep V hull with steps and plenty of sunpad and seating for tanning, the 1017 GT is the perfect boat for every occasion. Customers also enjoy the stylish and easy-to-use bimini top, the generous cooling facilities for drinks and snacks and the high-end audio system of the 1017 GT. The approximately 10 meter long Gentlemen's Racer is the heart of the Austrian shipyard and was first built in 2011 by Thomas Gerzer, the head of product development at Frauscher. Since then, it has been providing customers from all over the world with unlimited fun on the water with its classic design. Over the years this model has been continuously improved and optimized by the engineering team and remains today the best day cruiser in its class. Thomas Gerzer commented: "There are individual design elements that catch my eye somewhere. Other people often don't see these details at all, but they sense that it looks cool. Often it's all about little things or changing the proportions. It's a tedious process that starts with hundreds of sketches, which are then used to create the perfect model.“ This milestone makes the 1017 GT by far the most successful boat in its class. In addition to the sales success of the 1017 GT, Frauscher can also celebrate 200 unit sold for the 650 Alassio electric model. This makes the Frauscher 650 Alassio the best electric boat in their range.

Gulf Craft Announces Dual Majesty Deliveries

Emirates luxury yacht manufacturer, Gulf Craft, has announced the successful delivery of two Majesty 100s today. En route to Europe, these two superyachts will be handed over to their owner’s representatives in Italy where they will cruise the Mediterranean this summer season. Gulf Craft has taken every measure to ensure the safe delivery of both yachts through its smart management systems. Given the current travel restrictions, Gulf Craft introduced a virtual handover procedure that allowed the crew to efficiently review all the systems onboard together with shipyard experts and officials. Each of the two 31.7m Majesty 100 was designed and built to cater to their owner’s specific requests. Gulf Craft’s in-house design studio was responsible for the exterior and interior design of the superyachts. Following a project brief by each client, the team worked to echo their desires into each build and created a harmonious gem that merged seamlessly with the yacht’s timeless exterior design.

Heesen Biggest Assembly to Date

Light, long, fast and strong. Cosmos, the 80-metre, tri-decked yacht with four engines and more than 19,000 horsepower is a boat like no other. Her design combines the world’s most advanced naval architecture with Heesen’s unparalleled engineering know-how. She will be capable of reaching close to 30 knots once delivered and have an efficient cruising speed of 20+ knots.  A project of this scale is like a large and complex puzzle. Following the aluminium construction of our largest hull to date, we joined the hull and superstructure and installed the engines. The size of the project – 80 metres at 1,700GT – and the logistics involved are unprecedented. Thanks to the pristine Dutch organisation that characterizes all of Heesen’s works, not to mention the smart logistics management, the operations ran smoothly.  After 15 months of skilled welding, the 80-metre low-drag latest iteration of the Fast Displacement Hull Form, which sports Heesen’s patented “backbone” for longitudinal strength, left the aluminium workshop in shed six. After the weighing process, Cosmos’ hull was gently driven onto a barge by two remote-controlled multi-wheelers. This is a delicate process that once started cannot be stopped. To ensure perfect stability during this precise balancing act, the barge was carefully ballasted to ensure a seamless transition when transferring the weight of the hull.  The barge was then towed across the canal to a quay large enough to carry out the lifting operations. It took four of the Netherlands’ largest telescopic cranes to lift the hull from the barge and place it in the water.  During the same operation, we installed Cosmos’ unique propulsion system. Four engines and two gearboxes, which will interact with variable-pitch propellers and the ultra-innovative Promas rudders, were placed in the hull.  A build of such magnitude requires an epic collaboration with our trusted suppliers: long-lasting relationships built on many years of loyal teamwork and operating at the highest standards resulted in Cosmos, a project of cosmic proportions.  Cosmos’ sleek profile, penned by renowned British studio Winch Design, can, at last, be admired for the first time in its bare aluminium beauty. The yacht will now undergo the outfitting process in the run-up to the launch in 2021.

Horizon Announces Five New Power Catamaran Sales

Horizon continues to see strong sales in its PowerCat models, with three PC60 and two PC52 models currently in build for U.S. clients. Due to launch imminently, the PC60 Quintessence is the third Horizon Power Catamaran for her experienced owners, who previously owned another PC60 as well as a PC52. As they did in their previous PC60, the owners customised their layout and elected to eschew the standard on-deck master suite to create an entirely open floor plan on the main deck. The owners added a Hi/Lo swim platform, upgraded to two generators and incorporated the Lithium ion battery package to accommodate their extensive cruising. Quintessence is on schedule to be delivered in June 2020. Also scheduled to deliver in 2020 is the PC60 Homarus, which is the second Horizon yacht for the American owners, who are moving up from their PC52. The clients have added a head and shower to the flybridge as well as a Hi/Lo swim platform. A third PC60 is in build as a stock boat for U.S. owner.  The PC52 model remains one of the most popular Horizon PowerCat models, thanks to its efficient layout and entry-level appeal. Featuring a 22’ beam, the PC52 offers comfortable living spaces, a functional three-stateroom layout with a large galley and spacious salon, as well as all of the necessary amenities for extended cruising. The PC52 Magic is currently in build for two-time Horizon PowerCat owners, while yet another PC52 is in build for new Horizon owners. These owners made the switch to a Horizon PowerCat from their 60ft Hatteras mono-hull yacht. Upon taking delivery in early 2021, the owners plan to take their PowerCat to cruise the Great Lakes.

Riviera Expands to Meet Demand

Australia’s largest luxury motor yacht builder, Riviera, is expanding its 14-hectare production facility to meet international and domestic demand and the company’s growing number of new motor yacht models.  The multimillion-dollar new development works currently under way include extension of the factory’s final fitout capability by increasing the facility’s volume by more than 20 per cent.  Once this stage of the expansion program is completed, the works will allow Riviera to bring the majority of its final fitout under one roof, further enhancing quality, lead times and annual volume.  Over the past year, the company produced more than 100 motor yachts from across the 20-model range, more than half of which have been exported. These latest works will expand capacity as further new additions to Riviera’s model range are released.  Forty years of evolution are expressed in Riviera’s growing range of Flybridge, SUV and Sport Yacht range, and more recently the addition of the larger Sports Motor Yacht collection.  Riviera’s flagship Sports Motor Yacht design was launched in 2018 and the company in June this year celebrated a milestone with the completion of the magnificent Alberlee, Hull 20 of the Riviera 72 Sports Motor Yacht for a new owner in Western Australia.  The current facility expansion also includes a new location for Riviera’s New Model Development team of over 35 craftspeople and 13 designers, engineers, naval architects, draftsmen and master boatbuilders, bringing them together in a large and dedicated facility.  “These latest development works represent a substantial investment in meeting the needs of our yacht owners,” said Riviera owner Rodney Longhurst.  “Our current expansion program allows us to further enhance the design and luxury of today’s Riviera motor yachts and prepare for our future demand as exceptional new models are introduced to the Riviera model line-up.”

Riviera Celebrates 20th Sports Motor Yacht

The 72 and 68 Sports Motor yachts, the flagships of the luxurious Riviera collection, have reached a significant milestone in production with the completion of Hull 20 following the new designs being launched in 2018. Sports Motor Yachts have received accolades from owners and the marine industry by setting the standard that defines 40 years of evolution by Riviera.  Since their launch, Riviera 72 and 68 SMYs are now cruising the waters of Australia, New Zealand, The Caribbean, Vanuatu, Indonesia, The Mediterranean and Thailand, and further yachts are now being completed for the United States.  Alberlee, the 20th Sports Motor Yacht, is heading to Riviera dealer representative R Marine Perth for delivery to new owner Mike Albert, a Singapore-based director of Apple Inc’s customer care for the Asia Pacific region.

Viking Takes Triple Crown

The newest Bermuda Triple Crown Billfish champ is Joe Rahman's Viking 80 Auspicious. Joe and his team fished nine days during three tournaments which include the Billfish Blast, Big Game Classic and Sea Horse Anglers Club tournaments. Auspicious started strong, placing second in the Billfish Blast with three blue marlin releases. They followed up by dominating the Big Game Classic with four blues to win the tournament and lead the Triple Crown.  The Sea Horse tournament was competitive with challengers eating into their lead. But Auspicious put five blue marlin on the board for a 2nd Place finish. This sealed the Triple Crown series win for the team.  Congratulations to Joe, Captain Edward "Cookie" Murray, mate Carl Copeland and teammates Kevin Stafford, Lynda Murray, Amy Laird and David Soares.

Viking Wins at 2020 Blue Marlin Grand Championship

After a three-hour battle the Viking 48 Pearl weighed in a 642.4-pound marlin to earn the top honours in the 2020 Blue Marlin Grand Championship. With the 1st Place finish the team captured the 2020 Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship. The boat is owned by Andy Yarborough and was run by Captain Bo Keough. Aaron Prosser hooked the fish using 120-class Shimano big-game tackle. Pearl started the season with the 1st Place Blue Marlin in the Orange Beach Billfish Classic, a 603.2-pound entry. The team also earned participation points in the Cajun Canyons Billfish Classic, Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic and the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic. "It was a very special moment for Pearl to win the Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship," Pearl owner Andy said. "I would like to extend sincere thanks, gratitude and love to all the people who've helped make this possible for our team this season." Dana and Lisa Foster's Viking 72, Born2Run, racked up points throughout the six-tournament Gulf Coast Triple Crown Championship series to claim 2nd Place Overall. Other Viking finishes in the Blue Marlin Grand Championship, the final tournament in the series, include 3rd Place Blue Marlin. Owner/angler Robert Burroughs weighed a 575.2-pound fish caught on his Viking 70, Quick Time. Nathan Neames weighed in the 2nd Place tuna at 146.6 pounds, aboard the Viking 76 Reel Fire. Briar Patch, a Viking 68, took 1st Place Dolphin with angler Jarret Johnson's 35.4-pound catch. The Viking 58 Rising Sons claimed the 3rd Place Dolphin.

Viking Takes Stone Harbor Marlin Tournament

With barely a chance to settle into her new slip, the Viking 80 Krazy Salt's won the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor Marlin Tournament. Having just taken delivery of the boat days earlier, the team on the Anderson family's boat released six white marlin for the win. Keith Greenberg, at the helm of Krazy Salt's, claimed the Walt Hendee Captain's Award. Third Place Boat went to the Viking 56 Insure with five white marlin.

Viking Breaks Two Records

Keith and Ginger Myers had a wild weekend fishing their Viking 72 Fleur de Lis with captain Scooter Porto and mates Zachary Taylor and Jake Glass. Competing in the Mongo Offshore Challenge, Ginger set not one but two records with a 851.9-pound blue marlin, which was weighed in front of a cheering crowd at the Orange Beach Marina in Alabama. Ginger now holds the Alabama Blue Marlin state record as well as the Gulf of Mexico's lady angler with the heaviest blue. Way to kill two birds with one stone Ginger! The tournament runs through October 15.  The current Alabama Blue Marlin state record is held by Chris Ferrera. Chris earned the title while fishing his Viking 60 Reel Fire at the 2013 Blue Marlin Grand Championship. His six-plus-hour fight resulted in a fish weighing 845 pounds.

Viking at 2020 Gulf Cup

Jon Gonsoulin's Viking 70 Done Deal did it again - winning the 2020 Gulf Cup, a single-day winner-take-all marlin tournament. Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, captain Jason Buck put Wilks Hammock on a 120" fish that weighed 667.2 pounds. That fish also earned the team the optional jackpot category, Big Blue Challenge, at the World Cup Blue Marlin Championship.  Done Deal won the Blue Marlin Cup back in 2017 with Wilks hooking a 600-pound fish. This is the only big-game tournament allowing teams to fish anywhere in the world for eight hours in their time zone with just one targeted species and one winner.

Viking at Orange Beach Open

A fleet of 23 boats fired up for the Orange Beach Open, a trolling-only event with live baiting prohibited. Matt McDonald's Viking 72 Breathe Easy with Captain Pat Ivie at the helm, took top honors in the Release Division with three white marlin. Quick Time, a Viking 70, released a blue for 2nd Place Release team.  At the inaugural Orange Beach Open in 2019, the Viking 64 Team Galati was the only boat to record a Grand Slam by weighing in a tuna, dolphin, wahoo and releasing a white marlin. This year, Quick Time claimed 1st Place in the Grand Slam category and Breathe Easy (in under three hours of fishing) claimed 2nd.  With just one tournament remaining in the prestigious Gulf Coast Triple Crown, the standings are tight. Born2Run, Dana and Lisa Foster's Viking 72, is currently leading with another seven Vikings in the top ten. They include Restless, Breathe Easy, It Just Takes Time, Pearl, Crawgator, Fleur de Lis and Quick Time.

Sea Ray Yacht Saved from Fire in Haulover

A unattended fifteen meter Sea Ray flybridge yacht had an onboard fire at Collins Avenue and 137th Street, Haulover Park Marina, Florida at 10:20 of the morning of Wednesday 29 July.  Miami-Dade Fire rescue responded to the fire with the FB-73 fire fighting boat, and controlled the flames, not only on the yacht involved but also by moving nearby boats so the fire does not spread.  The cause of the fire to the Sea Ray yacht are under investigation.
The Sea Ray in this fire is the 500 Sedan Bridge, a model introduced in 1989 as it's flagship, a spot it will hold for two years.  Produced till 1994 the 500 Sedan Bridge was a success for Sea Ray also for its spacious living main deck area.  The 500 Sedan Bridge will evolve to the larger cockpit but identical in the rest 550 Sedan Bridge in 1992.

Project: Wally 43 Wallytender

Ferretti Group has announced the latest addition to its growing offering of fast, fun and stylish luxury tenders from Wally, the 43 Wallytender. On this exciting thirteen meter model, the newly created “center cockpit” design provides all the protection of a cockpit with the practicality and access of a walk-around. Those onboard can enjoy the feeling of being in the open air with the added security and comfort usually experienced on a more enclosed yacht.  Drawing on the highlights of earlier Wallytender models, the 43 Wallytender displays an abundance of design features that make it the ultimate multipurpose performer. The result is a very fast, robust and practical runabout that is designed to be pure, simple and magnificently seaworthy, suiting uses as diverse as family day boat, superyacht tender, resort shuttle and sailing yacht support vessel. The 43 Wallytender has the capacity to carry up to twelve people at speeds in excess of 40 knots.  When creating the new model, Wally’s design team extensively consulted owners of its existing tender fleet to understand how the vessels’ various features have benefited day-to-day use. The new boat consequently fills a niche that will strike a chord with yacht owners the world over, delivering a sheltered passenger and driver experience, excellent handling, high-speed performance, generous bathroom facilities with standing headroom and separate shower compartment, a cabin with bed, and a range of deck configurations. Staying true to Wally’s distinctive style and spirit, the 43 Wallytender simultaneously drives the company’s offering in a new direction while taking inspiration from the design heritage of its best loved models of the past two decades. In particular, the similarities to early generations of Wally tenders including the Wallytender, WallyOne and 47 Wallypower are most evident. The 43 Wallytender also draws on Wally’s sailing heritage through the laminated sail mounted across the T-top’s carbon fiber superstructure. This brand’s signature solves the problem of simultaneously delivering the sensation of open-air living and providing shelter from the sun. Made from laminated sail cloth, the chic, contemporary “Wally” look of the T-top is highly practical, being lighter to reduce displacement of the vessel, and semi-transparent to allow plenty of light shining on those in the shade underneath. Developed by Wally and Ferretti Group’s technical engineering department, the 43 Wallytender is constructed in advanced composite with carbon fiber at Wally’s brand-new facilities in Forlì, Italy. As with all the brand’s tenders, the 43 Wallytender will be available in a range of head-turning colors that cannot be found elsewhere. The first unit, which is currently in production and due for completion in August 2020, has a striking iridescent green hull. The color has been dubbed “Gator Green”, in honor of the company’s first sailing yacht, Wallygator, which was also green; as the landmark yacht that initiated Wally’s illustrious history, with 2021 marking the 30th anniversary of her launch. The jewel in the 43 Wallytender’s crown is its unique “center cockpit” layout, which provides the driver and passengers with supreme protection from the elements, especially at top speeds. The wraparound glass windshield cocoons those onboard from three sides while the T-top offers shelter from above. Remarkably, the cockpit windshield’s front section has an angular bend of the single pane of glass, achieved without use of a central strut. This enhances visibility from the wheel station, with the added benefit of advancing the aesthetic of the tender reflecting the brand’s DNA to be twenty years ahead.  Alongside the protective benefits of the sheltered cockpit, thanks to the flanking walkways, passengers can enjoy convenient and safe access to the bow as well as the large sunpad on the foredeck.  Today’s yacht owners are more demanding than ever before, expecting vessels to perform a range of tasks and uses, adapting from season to season or even more frequently. The ability of the 43 Wallytender to change deck configurations as its owner’s needs vary will surely be one of its strongest appeals.  The flush, open deck space behind the cockpit coupled with the standard wings provides the ideal platform to accommodate many guests or to transport sails for a racing superyacht during a busy regatta season. The addition of a fold-out dining table, seating and raised sunbed converts the tender into a perfect family day boat, resort shuttle or yacht tender. Further storage in an optional aft sunbed creates the ultimate platform for watersports activities, with space to stow SeaBobs, wake boards, scuba diving tanks and other small water-toys. Instead of committing to a single configuration and purpose for the tender at the time of purchase, as is traditionally expected, owners of the 43 Wallytender have a full armory of accessories and features at their disposal which can be stored when not in use and then swapped in at a shipyard between seasons in just a day or two. As would be expected on a Wally yacht, the 43 Wallytender comes with a wide range of premium equipment as standard, including the carbon T-top, LED deck lighting, concealed hydraulic push-button anchor system, side-opening bulwark wings to extend the deck space, teak decking and the classic Wally wraparound fender system. Twin Volvo diesel 380hp stern drive engines with joystick control are an advantage for storage on a lift at a waterside home and give the added benefit of a shallower draft for exploration in remote areas. There is an option to upgrade to twin 440hp engines for predicted top speeds of over 40 knots.  Naturally, a number of elements on the 43 Wallytender can be customized to the owner’s needs. For instance, the carbon T-top comes as standard to offer protection from the elements but it can be eliminated should the vessel need to be stowed in a tender garage without sufficient clearance. The cockpit features bench-style seating to promote a more social environment. The yacht features a fridge and an insulated ice box locker as standard, as well as a carbon fiber swimming ladder. A second, larger fridge and ice maker are available as optional, as well as a diesel generator, air conditioning both inside and outside in the cockpit area, SeaKeeper stabilizer system and automated retractable swimming ladder/passerelle.  The all-new 43 Wallytender will be unveiled at the Cannes 2020 boat show in September.

Bob Roscioli 1942 - 2020

Bob Roscioli owner of one of South Florida's most well-known shipyards, died Monday 27 July 2020 from Covid-19 complications.  Bob Roscioli was 78 years old, founder of namesake Fort Lauderdale boating businesses Roscioli Yachting Center and Roscioli Donzi Yachts which produces custom sportfish yachts from 58 to 92 feet in an offer of thirteen models.  Bob Roscioli was hospitalized for more than a week before his death. He was a decades-long presence in the marine industry after launching his career as an apprentice in 1962.  Roscioli was known to offer opportunities to anyone ready for hard work, and would often hire veterans and former prisoners.  Roscioli began his career as a painter, using brushes to painstakingly color entire vessels before developing a novel spray-painting technique. When he was 20, he was fired for asking his employer for a raise, but this was a catalyst for his career and instead of quitting the marine business, he kept working on his own and eventually secured a few big clients. Eventually, he brokered a deal to lease space for his own business.  Bob Roscioli is survived by Sharon, his wife of 51 years; his children, Robert and Heather; and three grandchildren.
