INBUILD ~ Casa 38 T-Top Part 5 of 5

The Casa 38 T-Top is nearing completion and in the above photo we are seeing a very close image to what will be the final product.  An indeed great sport cruiser even with some important details not yet fitted.  But the windshield is fitted, engines installed, and passarelle also.  In the above picture the Casa 38 T-Top construction status is all about refining the details which will make it from good to a fantastic, and special for its owner considering the custom detailing that went into the build.  With most details refined and cleared the Casa 38 T-Top will go for its first sea trials, and then again it will return for the fitment of the T-Top, after which hand over to a proud owner, who had the opportunity to follow and customize the construction from start to finish will be given.  An unusual story for an eleven meter sport cruiser, with most builds in this size being a start to finish standard production build with very little to decide for the owner in design both outside and inside.

Project: Beneteau 47 Swift Trawler

Beneteau present the project for a new Swift Trawler 47 to be World launched at the coming 2018 Cannes boat show in September.  A design of Andreani at this moment it is not yet understood if the 47 is a replacement of the 44 or 50 model, since it packs so much features in just fourteen meters of size.  One of the favorite details shown in the renderings is the single level living space between aft deck and the interior saloon galley area.  Down below the Beneteau 47 Swift Trawler features three double cabins; owners cabin forward, twin berth cabin to port side, and Vip double to starboard.  The Beneteau 47 Swift Trawler will be powered by twin Cummins 425hp engines with traditional line shaft propulsion.  Beneteau will also offer a hard top option for the flybridge.

Viking New Web Site

Viking yachts from New Jersey East coast Atlantic side of the US, renowned for its high quality sportfish yachts and cruisers updates its website to a totally new design. While making more a name for itself in the past two decades Viking yachts history started back in 1964 when Bob and Bill Healey bought struggling New Jersey boat builder Petterson-Viking, who at the time was building a 37 foot wooden Sportfish cruiser. Seven years pass and the Healey brothers show the way forward by presenting the 33 Convertible, Viking's first fiberglass construction. A year later to this passes and it is 1972 when Viking presents the 40 Convertible which in a sixteen year production run with over six hundred units delivered sets the record as the company best seller. Following this Viking makes a constant growth up until 1990 and the dull recession period hitting the US economy and the coming of the famous 10% luxury tax on yachts. This time frame which lasted till 1993 saw many builders close the doors and Viking reducing its workforce from 1500 to eighty personnel. On facts the only reason Viking did not close up was thanks to the resolute of the Healey brothers who risked there own capital to keep going on, and where also among the key players for the removal of this taxation. While this storm was a difficult moment for the yachting industry, after it Viking gained the upper hand and became a leader in the semi production Sportfish boat segment. The signs of the growth experienced after the luxury tax three year period could be seen in the presentation of newer bigger models, plant expansion modernization in 2000, and the opening of a service facility in Riviera Beach Florida on 2002. Today Viking has the capacity to build one hundred cruisers and yachts a year, in a twenty seven model line up which start with the 37 Billfish to the 2018 introduced 93 Motor Yacht flagship. Viking currently offers four ranges: Open Bridge, Billfish, Motor Yachts, Sport Yacht, Open, and Enclosed Bridge and its latest model is the 68 Convertible. New Model: Sanlorenzo 500Exp

Project: Arcadia A105

Arcadia is proud to announce that the new A105 will make its official debut at the Cannes boat show 2018. Based on the 2016 launched A100, the A105 is proving to be an instant hit on the market as attested by the fact that the third hull is already in build.  The first A105 is an order from a returning Arcadia client, who is on the third unit ordered from the 2009 founded innovative Italian Naples based boat builder.  Again a design to Hot Lad studio from Milan of Michele Dragoni, Enrico Lumini, and Antonio Romano, the A105 expands two feet of length from the A100 and gives more space to the flybridge and adding a more spacious top deck both inside and outside.  The main deck on the A105 is also revised with the new model expanding further space outside, with a double sized aft deck compared to that of the A100.  As is usual to Arcadia the A105 is fully custom build by owner super yacht, with the yard offering over fifty combinations of various interior and exterior layouts to choose from.

New Model: Aquador 35 AQ

Aquador is proud to present the first in a new line of yachts. First out is the AQ 35, a fully enclosed saloon version of the new series.  Led by Thorup Design, the Aquador design team has come up with a new look that breaks with Finnish design traditions, but keeps faith with the elegant and functional style that has become the boat builder trademark. The new Aquador 35 AQ is a modern boat with a number of innovative solutions for boaters who can appreciate quality. These include a spacious and modifiable cabin with a back wall that can be opened, electrically operated skylight, large swim platform, practical side deck on starboard side, sliding door by the helmsman and a large anti-fog double-convex windshield.  The Aquador 35 AQ can be powered a single Volvo 400hp diesel engine or twin Mercury diesel 260hp.

Project: Fountaine Pajot MY 40

Following the great success of the MY 44, Fountaine Pajot presents the project for a MY 40.  For this new project Fountaine Pajot decided to keep up the winning collaboration of the MY 44 with design duties handled to Pierangelo Andreani and hull naval architecture to Daniel Andrieu.  The MY 40 strengthens the Fountaine Pajot motor yachts range, third model in the line up and keeps all the MY 44 assets, multi-awarded this year by the European and international press.  The MY 40 will offer a three cabin interior with a very spacious owners cabins to port side.  The Fountaine Pajot MY 40 will be standard powered by twin Volvo 370hp engines with IPS pod propulsion.

New Model: Ferretti 670

2018 marks the fiftieth anniversary for Ferretti yachts and during the celebration for this important event held in Venice and at the end of June it was fitting for the company to present its latest model with a World premiere for the new 670.  The fiftieth anniversary will also mark a change to the Forli based yacht builder with designer duties changing hands from the long standing since 1990 Giovanni Zuccon to the new Filippo Salvetti.  The first model of the Salvetti era takes a lot from the latest smaller sized 550 and 450 models, with an added feeling of stream lined length effect delivered by the sweeping stern design.  The Ferretti 670 will have the usual Ferretti options for a hard top or not flybridge layout, and a three or four cabins lower deck.  Power comes from twin standard Man 1000hp, or optional 1200hp engines.

Project: Grandezza 37 CA

Grandezza present the 37 CA project set for launch this Summer 2018.  Presented as a fully enclosed hard top sport cruiser the Grandezza 37 CA will offer a layout of a living on the main deck, and two double cabins served by a single shower head below deck.  The Grandezza 37 CA is a modern sport cruiser with an axe bow which does not forget its Nordic roots hence the layout for a full spacious side deck to starboard being present.  Other features which which should get clients excited in the 37 OC is the fully enclosed main deck which with its three part sliding door joins exterior aft deck ef and interior saloon effortlessly.  The Grandezza 37 OC will be powered by standard twin Volvo 260hp engines with options taking engine power up to 350hp.  Estimated speeds are a max of up to 36 knots with cruise at 26 knots.

blogger - Return of the Aft Cabin

Its good to see a couple boat builders and designers rediscovering the aft cabin layout and how it can work in today's boating World.  The need to have a large full beam midships owners cabin, and moving of the engines always further backwards has practically made it the aft cabin a thing of history in the last decade plus.  Not for all it seems, with a couple designers and builders having a different idea for the aft cabin.
First it was Wim Van Der Valk and designer Cor D.Rover who in 2016 presented the BeachClub concept which later it became a range and today features three models.  The Dutch builder and designer created an innovative way of using the aft area by putting the living dining area aft, which as the range name says, with the opening of the aft bulkhead this becomes a beach club once you are at anchor.  Result was that the custom to order build sold immediately with a sale for a 600 and 660 Flybridge coming in only a few months after project presentation.
Second it was Maritimo and the new X60 recently launched at the Sanctuary Cove 2018 boat show.  If someone is pushing new boundaries about what an aft cabin should be and how to make customers interested about it is the new 2018 Maritimo X60.  The X60 not only brings an aft cabin but also delivers on versatility and choice to the buyer.  The X60 also impresses for being a sport yacht of just nineteen meters to offer four double cabins, if a customer chooses the aft cabin to be the master suite.  Yes if you choose because in the Maritimo X60 you have three choices for the aft area; a large full beam owners suite, or a beach club, or the today standard of a tender garage.
