Project: Sanlorenzo SX72

After the extraordinary success gained from the SX88 at the 2017 edition of the Cannes, Genoa, Dusseldorf and Miami Boats Shows, as evidenced by the sale of 13 units to date, of which three have already been launched, Sanlorenzo, on the occasion of its 60th anniversary, has unveiled a preview of the new born of its product range: the new SX72 crossover yacht.  The concept behind the project starts once again from the company's desire to propose a completely innovative approach to on-board space, an approach by which the Zuccon studio, for the exterior lines, and Piero Lissoni, as pertains to the interior design but also as the art director of the company, have interpreted the first version of the SX72, which will be officially presented at Cannes Yachting Festival 2018.  A happy and intelligent synthesis between the classic motor yacht with flying bridge, and the recent and growing explorer model, the SX72 incorporates the total family feeling of the SX line, keeping all the style features of SX88.  Such as the availability of large open spaces and windows that ensure an effective and optimal interior and exterior communication.  The SX72 will also feature the wheelhouse located only on the fly, maintains free the living room area at the bow on the main deck, which can therefore be dedicated to the dining room adjacent to the kitchen or becoming a single open environment which houses as a continuous living area, the living room, dining room and open kitchen.  The bow area of the main deck is fully equipped to offer a livable, convivial, and relaxing area with a large sunbed, convertible into a very private and shaded dining area with awning.  The swimming platform at the stern which, once freed from the tender, becomes an extraordinary beach club of over 18 square meters.

New Launch: Feadship 73.60m Hull. 815

Local residents and people driving and sailing past the Feadship yard in Kaag are used to seeing impressive superyachts docked up alongside the facility. Each is unique, of course, as Feadship only builds pure custom super yachts, but it is fair to say that this latest newcomer in the water has a distinctive look all of her own.   The 73.60m hull. 815 titled m/y Sherpa has been launched via the slipway in order to facilitate work that was impossible to achieve inside the giant construction hall due to the yacht’s height. Already an imposing sight, hull. 815 will soon become even taller as her remarkable mast, air exhaust funnels and cranes are added to the deck. The official christening ceremony and delivery will take place later this year. hull. 815 has been created in close cooperation with Cecil Wright and Partners for a highly experienced yachtsman who is a repeat client for Feadship. Her explorer-like exterior profile is accentuated by an un-faired hull which leaves the plate work and welding exposed. This sturdy finish was requested by the owner who wished to generate an industrial look. At the same time, Sherpa’s exterior still features a wealth of high-end details, including lots of teak, polished stainless steel and meticulously dressed aluminium and steel elements.  Created in partnership with RWD, the expedition-style architecture will enable Sherpa to carry a great deal of equipment wherever she sails. The owner wishes to have all kinds of transportation and logistics options available as he embarks on his adventures in different parts of the world, including large tenders and various vehicles to use on land. The huge open spaces on the main deck will also facilitate this aim, as will the two giant boom cranes which will soon be installed on board.  Extendable to twelve and twenty metres respectively, the cranes will be able to hoist items from port and starboard, on and off the helicopter deck, and to and from the platforms of the multipurpose garage below. A large hull door on the starboard side can be folded down to create a large beach club with a flush floor, while the cargo bay platform on the port side rotates upwards. The stern bulwark also rotates and can serve as a swimming platform to the beach club. Of course, these deceptively simple descriptions belie the enormous amount of technical and engineering expertise involved in producing such state-of-the-art structures and solutions.  Below the helicopter platform is a lounge, dining area and bar/pantry. The rest of the interior living spaces are located in the forward sections of the yacht, including an observatory on the bridge deck. The main deck houses the owner’s stateroom, two VIP staterooms and four suites sleeping seven guests.  Sherpa’s purposeful exterior combines extraordinary guest facilities with extremely practical and versatile operations, allowing her to operate globally in a number of roles. Her interior is well appointed and whilst reflecting the nature of an exploration vessel it is underpinned with a fascinating level of detail.

Project: Rosetti 85m Superyacht

The Rosetti 85m Superyacht project is based on the same technical platform by Rolls Royce as the 85m Supply Vessel, with minor modifications to account for the different weight distribution of the superstructure, but her sleek exterior styling by Tommaso Spadolini reveals a very different purpose.  Both versions offer all the bespoke amenities and more that you would expect aboard a superyacht of her size and gross tonnage, but arguably the standout feature of the 85m Superyacht is the enormous beach club and wellness area. Housing a gym with a panoramic glass wall overlooking the swim platform, plus massage room, sauna and hamman, when the two side terraces are deployed the beam is extended to nineteen meters. The adjacent large garage can hold two tenders and a wide array of water toys.  Another highlight is the master stateroom on the upper deck forward that covers 123 sq/m, excluding the His and Hers bathrooms. The suite has been designed to be completely separate from the guest areas with independent access to a private swimming pool, a guest pool is on the main deck aft, and the touch-and-go helicopter deck.  Four guest cabins and a full-beam VIP suite are located on the main deck forward to take advantage of the large windows and abundant natural light. Besides the beach club, the lower deck is dedicated to the galley and crew area. Indeed, crew services and operational considerations are critical on such a large yacht capable of spending long periods at sea without shore support. For this reason, the yacht has a tank-top deck level with additional cold and dry stores, a workshop, laundry and linen storage room.  Powered by a diesel-electric propulsion package comprising four MTU 2869hp  engines combined with two Rolls Royce Azipull thrusters for optimal hydrodynamic efficiency and low noise and vibration, the 85m Superyacht will have a top speed of 20 knots and a range of 5,500nm at a cruising speed of 15 knots.

Project: JFA Yachts 78 Long Island

JFA Yachts from Brittany, North of France presents the project of the 78 Long Island power catamaran.  Designed for large trips, the hulls of the 78 Long Island will be made of aluminium while the deck and superstructures will be composite. Powered by twin 500hp engines, the cruising speed is set at 12 knots with a maximum speed of 15 knots. Like the previous Long Island, JFA Yachts and Marc Lombard have focused on the weight of the boat and its equipment. This displacement and the desired speed make it possible to install engines of reasonable size in order to lower the fuel consumption and the size of the tanks while offering a transatlantic autonomy.  The interior design and exterior styling of the boat will be by Franck Darnet and will feature mixed oak and darker wood panelings. The nacelle will house the galley, main salon, dining area and a chart table. The port hull will have a large owner’s suite and a guest cabin. The starboard hull will have three guest cabins. An enclosed wheelhouse will be installed on the fly-bridge; an innovative feature in this type and size of power catamaran. This space, designated for navigation, will also host a banquette and an office so you can relax and enjoy the view.  The outdoor spaces are also innovative, with a lounge area and a sea water bath on the deck. Of course, in the back the interior salon extends to a large exterior cockpit. On the flybridge, a salon and dining area with a small kitchenette will be installed behind the wheelhouse.

New Model: Invictus 370 GT Special Edition

The Invictus 370 GT took the yachting world by storm when it was presented at the 2016 Cannes Yachting Festival. With its sculpted hull, distinctive reverse bow, elegant interior and choice of layout, the award-winning sport cruiser offered a level of innovation and sophistication, comfort and performance, completely new in its size category. Now Invictus Yacht has taken this philosophy a step further. The new 370 GT Special Edition takes all these distinguishing features, but adds another layer of exclusivity with interior decor and furnishings revisited by the famous fashion stylist Anna Fendi. The project started during a chance meeting between Anna Fendi and Christian Grande, the principle designer of the Invictus range. They discovered they shared the same creative sensibilities and the ideas started to flow. From this aesthetic alchemy, a new project was born that took the 370 GT as its starting point. Conceived as a deluxe daybout for overnight cruising, the series model can just as well serve as a super yacht tender or chase boat. The challenge was how to bring something extra to the original design that would appeal to clients with even more discerning tastes. Among the four layout options available, the arrangement with a forward dinette and a full-beam owner’s cabin was selected as the most suitable for the 370 GT Special Edition. But the already distinctive style of the series has been transformed by introducing a subtle colour palette of contrasting black and white tones for the furnishings and fabrics. A wide variety of opaque and polished finishes add warmth and texture to the monochrome tones. The black surfaces, for example, are metallic chromed using a special Physical Vapour Deposition process that deposits a nickel film onto the substrate. A velvety ivory finish, on the other hand, has been applied to the furniture pieces of pale Tanganyika White frisé that highlights the softness of the wood. This black and white theme continues in the soft furnishings and fabrics, from the day sofa in warm, ivory white chenille, to the linen drapes bordered in dark leather. Other Anna Fendi hallmarks include the design motifs borrowed from leather goods and travel cases. The wardrobe in the owner’s cabin is styled to resemble a classic travel case and finished in a combination of nappa and glossy black leather with metallic detailing. The dinette furniture is styled in similar fashion with storage for wine bottles, glassware and bespoke tableware, typical of the Anna Fendi Collection, under its lifting top. A final touch is the mirrored forward bulkhead with a metal framework of black nickel that pays tribute to the Villa Laetitia boutique hotel refurbished by Anna Fendi. The same style and attention to detail extends to the exterior cockpit where the teak decking with ivory caulking is laid out in a herring-bone pattern, and the sofas are decorated with black leather belts and buckles embossed with the Anna Fendi signature. Last but not least guaranteed to turn heads, is the ivory white livery of the hull with its strip windows and topsides bordered in black.

Project: Columbus S 50

Palumbo Superyachts, yachting division of the Palumbo Group, is pleased to announce the sale of the new 50 meters motoryacht under the brand Columbus Yachts.  The owner, who already owns a motoryacht built by the Group, again choose Palumbo Superyachts to give life to his new project.  Luca Dini Design signs exteriors and interiors of this new Columbus 50 S model.  Featuring numerous unprecedented solutions designed at the owner’s request, Columbus S 50 can accommodate eleven guests in five cabins on three decks and a total crew of eleven in seven cabins. Columbus S 50 will have hull and superstructure built in aluminium.  Driven by two 2000hp MTU engines, Columbus S 50 will have a top speed of twenty knots in semi-displacement mode, with a  cruise of fifteen knots giving a transoceanic range.  Designer Luca Dini worked in close cooperation with Palumbo Superyachts’ engineering department to build a model that accurately meets the needs of the owner.  Well known for the famous and multi-award winning Columbus 40 SH and specifically for the two units built, the tradition of the brand is for building tailor-made super yachts in aluminum continues. This can be seen in the vertical bow, a distinctive feature that this model itself has helped make an iconic and sought-after feature on today’s yachts.  The exterior design expresses dynamism while maintaining well-balanced proportions, conveying an original style without being over-the-top and ensuring that its aesthetic will never go out of fashion. The pronounced edges and facets give the Columbus S 50 sleek lines, as well as making it easier to improve the layout of the interior spaces. Suffice to say that the bow area, for example, can comfortably accommodate the entire crew.  The owner’s desire to enjoy as much natural light as possible in the interiors has been fulfilled by the use of extensive glazed surfaces on all decks and particularly on either side of the main deck, where the outer gunwale is designed in such a way as to enjoy a complete view of the sea, even when sitting on the sofas in the lounge.  But the tailor-made technical solutions requested by the owner are the truly distinctive feature of Columbus S 50. The customer, who has a longstanding friendship with Giuseppe Palumbo based on mutual esteem, is perfectly aligned with the corporate approach adopted by the Group, which translates the engineering expertise, experience and construction capabilities typically found in the shipping industry, for application in the pleasure yachting sector.  Construction of the new 50 meters Columbus S superyacht will soon start in the Italian facilities based in Ancona, and the delivery to her owner is scheduled in Summer 2020.
