New Model: Segesta 50 Capri

Segesta is a fairly young Italian company being founded in 2009 by four Italian entrepreneurs and now it launches its first 50 Capri model. A fully custom hand crafted build to order traditional motor yacht, the Segesta 50 Capri is designed by Carlo Borghi who inspired himself to a mix of early seventies Italian sportfish cruisers like the early Alalunga's or some of the recent nineties build Castagnola models.  Tradtional both outside and inside, its three double cabins interior with forward owners suite, and two guest cabins at midships are again a shout to the past as is the wood filled finished interior.  But do not be mistaken while the Segesta 50 Capri is fairly classic looking outside and inside; it can be ordered with a technoligical heart of quadruple hybrid propulsion drive of four 200 kw electric motors, these giving a range of clean power for two hours at ten knots.  These electric motors are an optional addition to the twin FPT 650hp engines giving a 33 knots max speed, and when ordered reduce fuel capacity by one thousand liters.

Project: Cruisers 54 Fly

The formula for the project of the Cruisers 54 Fly is the same the North American boat builder used for its 60 Fly model.  Basically Cruisers is using the 54 Cantius base and adding a flybridge up top.  Fair to say this system has worked incredibly well for Cruisers in the flagship 60 series, so the same result is expected for the 54 Fly.  Both series are a design to Beglian born USA resident Facheris, and the 54 Fly just as the hard top sport yacht Cantius is to be powered by the same twin Volvo 725hp engine with IPS propulsion.

New Model: Rio 44 Colorado

Rio continues expanding and for 2016 the North Italian Brescia pleasure boat builder presents the 44 Colorado, a fourteen meter enclosed hard top sport cruiser with intelligent exterior spaces and a spacious three double cabin interior.  So far it is not clear if the 44 Colorado is a replacement to one of the 42 and 46 Air models.  Looking at the plans and technical content one understands that the three similar sized models which share hull can co-exist cause of the differences; see fully open hard top two cabins and IPS propulsion for the Air models. The Rio 44 Colorado has interesting layout solutions usually found on larger boats.  For example its flash main deck and the three part patio door can become an all open area of eight square meters. But the surprises of the Rio 44 Colorado do not stop, as the fourteen meter sports cruiser surprises again for its three double cabins below deck, which still features a spacious full beam owners suite.  This is in addition to a VIP cabin forward, bunk third cabin to starboard, and L-shaped sofa to port side. The galley of the 44 Colorado is located on the main deck behind the helm station to starboard.  Power for the new Rio is standard Cummins 480hp with line shaft propulsion, or optional Volvo 370hp coupled to stern drives propulsion.

blogger - Lost Chance

The important European boat shows for 2016 have ended with Cannes taking again the prime spot of the must show to visit.  Still this was a lost chance for Genoa to regain its leadership in the European boat show panorama.
Genoa 2016 was good but the fracture between UCINA and Nautica Italiana is still hurting the boat show to regain its prime spot.  This is a pity as 2016 could have been the one of the full relaunch of the Genoa boat show.  It was a relaunch but not a full one. A half filled glass that is. When you have names as the Ferretti Group and Azimut-Benetti missing, it is fair to say that the Genoa boat show is not the same.  The Italian names missing in Genoa need to figure that even if they invest double in Cannes it can never be the Home boat show.  Basically to make an example when at Cannes they are always playing away.
Genoa is the prime spot for Italian builders with some of them having the yards a few miles away from the show.  If you are interested in a boat the next day they can set you an appointment in the yard to have a look at the facility and how the construction process works. This alone makes Genoa unique for Italian builders.
Italian boat builders snubbing the Genoa boat show need not to look far away at how for example the British support the home boat shows, Southampton the first but also the London January edition due to the advantage a home boat show gives you. Same goes for the Dutch with Hiswa boat show.
Both the Brits and Dutch supported the Home boat shows even when these performed under expectations.  A prime example to this is the London boat show, who has been in decline for over a decade now, but has always received the full support of the British boat builders even in the worst of times.
