Project: Azimut Grande 140

A lot of production builders who have build a reputation and an image in the mid sizes have in the last decade entered the super yacht market of eighty feet plus, now Azimut one of the front runners in this race since the eighties presents a new flagship project, which expands the Italian builder size by 20 feet, the triple deck Grande 140.  But the new big Azimut does not want only to be a new flagship and also reinvents itself with a new hull shape called D2P Displacement to Planning, and a new propulsion system made in collaboration with Rolls Royce the Carbon Azipull 65C. This new 140 Grande project is to be the largest Azimut ever build, taking honors away from the recently launched 120 SL.  An important entertainment focus will be of three huge sun spa areas; fore deck, flybridge, and aft in the beach bathing platform.  It's standard interior layout will be for five double guest cabins, and a huge owners stateroom on the main deck.  Three crew cabins sleep six on the fore peak of the lower deck, plus a double captains cabin on the upper floor behind the pilot house.  Power is from twin MTU 3460hp with speed estimated being a max of 21 knots and a cruise of 16.

Outboards

In the last decade thanks to the advent of silent, clean, and fuel efficient four strokes engines, outboard powered boats have increased there size dramatically.  It was and still is a high performance young market but the sizes have increased and is not unusual to see a forty feet plus center console with four, five big outboards in its back.  That was till 2012!
Now this year Sea Ray rewrites the rules and presented the 370 Venture.  This 2012 sport cruiser model from Sea Ray breaks the mould in one most important feature, the outboards practically are hidden and do not disturb the lines, and the aft part of the cockpit deck.  How many times have I heard people not interested in an outboard boat because of this.  Fast forward a couple of months and S2 Yachts outboard Pursuit brand comes with a response presenting the SC365 project, which should launch by years end.  Pursuit also says that they have a patent pending for its invisible outboard system.
Europe seems also catching up on this outboard bug and Italian Cranchi did this year present an outboard line presenting two models with the 24 and 32 Panama, this last being an outboard version of the Zaffiro which is about 25% cheaper to the Diesel inboard stern drive version.  It is still not what the two American builders are doing, but considering Italian, European flare how long before we see something like that from the Old Continent.
It will be interesting what the Sea Ray 370 Venture will give to the market, will it be a niche, or a new growing trend.  The case in favour of four strokes outboard is that they are clean, silent, reliable, and also fuel efficient which could make the premium of a diesel engines less popular. If the engines are not visible and they are not wasting exterior deck spaces, that is another bonus!

Azimut and Atlantis Win Awards Again

The Atlantis 34 is 'Boat of the Year' 2012 in the motorboat category, Azimut Magellano 43 'Best passagemaker' to AIM Awards 2012. The success goes on with the two brands of Azimut/Benetti Group. The Azimut|Benetti Group’s first 10 metre yacht, the Atlantis 34, favourably received by the public at the international boat shows this fall, was named “Barca dell’Anno” (Boat of the Year) in the ‘powerboats under 10 metres’ category by the Italian magazine Vela e Motore on November 6. All the comfort of a people carrier, style and design, a focus on safety, liveable spaces and an outstanding price to quality ratio are the keys to the success of this open/cruiser with what the magazine calls ‘a Mediterranean vocation’. The yacht has met with a lot of success abroad too. At the recent Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show Azimut Yachts was presented with another important honour by the AIM Marine Group, publisher of some United States’ most authoritative and prestigious boating magazines and organiser of the “2012 Editor’s Choice Award”: the Azimut Magellano 43 was declared ‘Best passagemaker’ among boats of its size (4050 feet). The awards were presented at a gala evening held at the splendid Hotel W Fort Lauderdale.

Grand Banks FLIBS Recap

Grand Banks came prepared for a busy FLIBS show this year, with the lineup including two brand new models. The 43 Heritage EU, 54 Heritage EU and 46 Eastbay SX were all on display and saw consistent traffic throughout the whole show. The 54 Heritage EU, which made its North American debut, received rave reviews for its well laid-out salon and galley which provide exceptional views. The spacious flybridge and engine room were also getting plenty of praise as well. The 43 Heritage EU, which made its worldwide debut, received many comments about its extensive and spacious cockpit and new additional second head. Paired with the Zeus pod drives, the 43EU is proving to be a perfect step up from the 41EU. Many visitors also mentioned how comfortable the 43EU's size is and how a cruising couple could manage a weekend getaway or month long excursion with just themselves. The 46 Eastbay SX rounded out the lineup, and like the 43EU it also features the Cummins Zeus propulsion system. With a variety of layout options - even crew quarters - this model was popular for visitors looking for the sleek styling of a down east cruiser, but the reliability and quality that Grand Banks offers with every model manufactured.

Hunt Sweepes Top Awards

The Hunt 44 Express Sedan motoryacht was designated as the Best New Powerboat at mid-September’s 2012 Newport International Boat Show in the “Newport for New Products” judging. Her display was also accorded the Best In-Water Powerboat Display in the “Edson Star of the Show Awards.” No motoryacht has ever previously taken both awards. And, just a month later, the Hunt 44 was recognized at the world’s largest powerboat show as the Best “Down East” Cruiser 35-45 Feet. The Hunt 44 Express Sedan was designed and engineered by Hunt Yachts, working through their parent company, C. Raymond Hunt Associates a unique partnership in boatbuilding (no other builder is owned by a design firm); her construction exploits the meticulous craftsmanship available at Global Yacht Builders in Taiwan. Only Hunt can combine such depth of deep-V knowledge, experience and proven performance so richly evident in this series of powerboats which includes 52 and 68 foot models previously introduced and themselves winners of multiple awards. “Newport For New Products” spotlights each Fall, at the start of a new marine year, the new boats and equipment that make the most significant contributions to the recreational boating experience. Judging is done by an independent panel of boating experts assembled by Bonnier Marine Group under the auspices of Cruising World, Sailing World and Yachting magazines. Awards are given based on innovation, value to consumers and aesthetics in several categories from which overall winners are chosen; the Hunt 44 was picked as Best Powerboat 30’ And Over, then best powerboat overall. Active Interest Media, whose Marine Group publishes Power & Motoryacht, Passagemaker and Yachts Magazines as well as Soundings, Trade Only, Sail and Show Management, recognized with its Editor Choice Awards the “marine industry’s best for 2012” selections during FLIBS in November. Once again, the Hunt 44 stood out as the Best Down East Style Motoryacht 35 to 45 Feet.

Maritimo Taking the World

The fastest boats on the water are preparing for the annual Key West Offshore Powerboat Championships in the USA in November this year and a local crew, Maritimo Offshore Racing Team, are confident they can better their runner-up position of last year. Originally launched by Maritimo’s founder Bill Barry-Cotter the Maritimo Offshore Racing Team has earned an international reputation and narrowly missed taking out the championships last year running second to a US team. Maritimo crew chief, Peter McGrath, said this year should be strong for the Australian team as a decision had been made to concentrate in the superboat category rather than competing in the open division.

Maritimo New US Dealer

Maritimo is about to ramp–up its presence in the USA with a new dealer appointed in the mid-Atlantic. President of Maritimo USA, Dave Northrop, said the relationship between the manufacturer and the newly appointed EPIC Yachting provided ‘an exceptional opportunity to elevate the Maritimo owner’s experience to a whole new level’.

Moonen Achieves Exptional Noise and Vibration Results

After three days of extensive trials, the largest custom Moonen motoryacht to date has achieved some quite remarkable results in terms of noise and vibration levels. The 42-metre Sofia, which also features a three-man submarine, achieved Class 1 status within the Passenger and Crew Accommodation Comfort notation from the Lloyd's Register rules and regulations for Special Service Craft. This impressive technical achievement within the parameters of the SSC Rules was measured by the specialist noise and vibration testing company Intersona. The noise levels allowed for a superior stateroom on a superyacht are 50 dB. The tests recorded that Sofia's staterooms were as low as 40 dB in some places and the sound levels never exceeded 46 dB at 12 knot cruising speed. A similar achievement was noted in the lounge, where the measurements again showed that the sound levels were 4 to 5 dB lower then the figure required to reach Class 1 status. The noise levels were even lower in the wheelhouse, coming in at 45 dB in an area where 60 dB is still considered comfortable enough for Class 1. The vibration tests showed an even more remarkable performance. In the staterooms and lounges a maximum vibration level of 0.3 to 0.4 mm/sec. was recorded (compared to an acceptable Class 1 level of 1.8), while the public spaces of the superyacht were measured at 0.4 (compared to an acceptable Class 1 level of 2.5). The owner was also delighted with the interior, the first pictures of which are published here. An extraordinarily bright and open feeling is generated by the large windows and the styling by Art-Line Interiors, which features oak wood, Zabrano and Concetto marble. Executed with a custom piece of Concetto art made and supplied by Ceaser Stone in Israel, Sofia's atrium is spectacular. And the interior is a technical masterpiece too, with an integrated foil bridge and a full Kaleidoscope video server with multi-room control (including lighting, blinds and climate control) via i-Pad.  Inside and out, this highly sophisticated custom project captures the essence of why Moonen is one of the finest yachtbuilders in the world.

Moonen Other Major Refit

Moonen Shipyards in the Netherlands has received the order for a refit of the Moonen 84 Etoile d'Azur. Launched in 2007, this 26.25-metre motoryacht is still in the hands of her original owner, who had already taken her to the Caribbean on her own bottom and now plans an extensive cruise of the Norwegian fjords and beyond. First, however, Etoile d'Azur will return home to Moonen where she will be greeted by many of the craftsmen who originally created this successful global cruiser. Designed by RenĂ© van der Velden, Etoile d'Azur is the seventh of eight Moonen 84 displacement motoryachts launched between 2002 and 2008. The project will include a comprehensive paint job and the installation of an electrical zero speed stabilisation system in place of the existing hydraulic system. This solution has already been successfully deployed on the Moonen 82 fast displacement motoryacht My Way, which was launched earlier this year. The electrical system requires approximately half the power of its hydraulic zero-speed alternative. Moreover, as it does not require a larger generator there will be no synchronisation required, which offers considerable cost savings. Another major part of the refit will be an extension of the flybridge aft. This will serve as a cover for the main deck aft area, creating even more shading for alfresco dining. In addition, the enhanced flybridge deck space will facilitate the owner's desire to carry more watersport toys onboard, including scooters, in addition to the tender and jetski currently stored in this location while underway. Last but not least, various cosmetic changes will be made to Etoile d'Azur‘s interior and systems while the electrics will be updated where required.

Mulder Refit Services

Mulder Shipyard in the Netherlands is enjoying a very busy time with a number of fine yachts recently launched and several new ones slated for delivery in the near future. In addition, the yard’s extra new facility in Zoeterwoude Rijndijk will be ready in the next few weeks. This site will open a new era for Mulder Shipyard, which celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2013. The existing yard in Voorschoten will stay open and be used for maintenance, refit and storage of yachts of up to 18 metres. In the coming period, Mulder Shipyard will devote considerable attention to showcasing its impressive options for refits. The two dry docks in the new facility are 55 m long and 12 m wide, and will be ideally suited for work on larger hulls. They are supported by a comprehensive range of services, covering everything from new paint jobs and technical systems upgrades to the installation of new propulsion drives, the latest navigation equipment and new interiors. A first-class finish and results are ensured thanks to the use of leading edge technologies and the finest quality materials. The current facility in Voorschoten will switch from yacht construction to the maintenance, service and storage of yachts up to 18 metres in length. Yacht owners will have several large and small operations at their disposal here, including engine servicing or electrical systems adjustments. Complete refits will also be possible. At Mulder, every refit, large or small, is seen as a matter of teamwork. The inhouse designers, engineers and craftsmen are ready to ensure that each yacht
fully satisfies her owners’ personal style and needs. The work always follows a plan set up in advance, and Mulder’s experienced project managers chart the possibilities based on a predefined budget.

Mulder Successful Exhibition Season

Mulder Shipyard can look back on a very successful exhibition season. At the HISWA Amsterdam in water Boat Show, we had an impressive stand situated right by the main entrance. The sale of the Mulder 82 Flybridge Lady Tes made the exhibition an even more successful event. Immediately after the HISWA Amsterdam in water Boat Show the sales team set sail for the Cannes Yacht Show, where it presented the Mulder 73 Wheelhouse Float to the public. A week later, representatives of the yard visited the yacht shows in Southampton and Monaco to meet with interested visitors.

Riviera Memory Lane for 5000th Launch

It was an emotional and moving ceremony for multiple Riviera owners Peter and Denise Haig, who had the honour of unveiling the signed 6 metre by 2 metre banner, which marked Riviera’s 5000th boat launch. Peter and Denise travelled from Sydney to join 180 Riviera owners as they became part of Australia’s maritime history at the special gala dinner celebration held at the company’s manufacturing facility on Queensland’s Gold Coast on November 2. Peter, who currently owns a 51 Enclosed Flybridge, said it was an honour to be invited to participate in the event. The 5000th Riviera boat to be launched was a 445 SUV. This whole new series of boats was released in August this year and already 6 of these new models have been sold to owners in the United States and Australia. The SUV concept draws its DNA from Riviera’s Flybridge, Sport Yacht and Offshore Express series and is a true bridge between them all. The Riviera 38 MKI’s Brisbane owners, Scott and Michele White, are new to the Riviera family having purchased their 38 only six weeks ago. Mr White said it was a very proud moment when their Riviera rolled down the driveway with spotlights shining on her hull, showing off her classic lines. Melbourne based Riviera owners, John and Fiona Zammit, said it was an event not to be missed. The couple own a 40 Flybridge, which is their second Riviera. Mr Zammit said it was a sensational achievement for Riviera, Australia’s largest and most awarded luxury boat builder. Riviera CEO, Wes Moxey, said the launch of Riviera’s 5000th boat was a very memorable and momentous occasion. The 38 MKI was built in 1980 and as it rolled down the driveway I could see a few tears of pride on the faces of our loyal Riviera enthusiasts. This was followed by our 5000th boat, the new 445 SUV from Riviera’s newly released model series, and it was a great honour to celebrate this achievement. When you look back over 32 years of Riviera and the launching of 72 individual models, the most popular of which we built 288 boats, the launch of the 5000th Riviera is a major milestone in the Riviera history books.

Rivera Star in the X-Factor Final

Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht, Buoy Toy, provided the perfect escape from the pressures of the Grand Final competition for TV talent show finalists, The Collective, in the lead up to the Grand Final of the X Factor, which went to air nationally in Australia on the 7 network on November 19, 2012. Australia’s top rating talent show, the X Factor, has attracted more than 1.5 million viewers who have tuned in every week in the search for Australia’s next singing sensation. The show won the ratings battle on Monday night with more than 1.6 million viewers tuning in to watch the Grand Final. The boy band relaxed and focused their minds and energy with mentor, judge and former boy band star, Ronan Keating; and what better way to calm the nerves than with a cruise around beautiful Sydney Harbour on a Spring day on board a stunning boat from Riviera’s popular Sport Yacht range. Riviera’s Director of brand and communications, Stephen Milne, said this was the third time Riviera had been invited to appear in Channel 7’s hit TV talent show.

Riviera Production Management Changes Hands

As a role model and mentor to many of Riviera’s current leaders, long serving shipwright and head of manufacturing Chris Gilfoyle has passed the baton today on to his prodigy Scott Cumming. After 47 years of boat building and 18 solid years with Riviera, Chris is easing his way into retirement, but his legacy will continue, as Riviera’s young leaders move forward and take up senior management roles. Born in New Zealand’s city of sails, Auckland, Chris left school at the age of 15 to pursue a boat building apprenticeship. He also had a passion for racing offshore power boats. In 1979, he moved to Australia where he worked for various boat builders before taking up a position at Riviera in 1994 building the Excalibur range for Wellcraft in the USA. This is where Chris first met Scott Cumming, a young boat builder who had just completed his apprenticeship. As a qualified tradesman, Scott was fortunate to be assigned to the Excalibur project where he worked under Chris’s guidance and leadership. Handing the baton over to Scott will be bittersweet for Chris, who feels sad to be leaving but is also looking forward to spending more time with his wife of 40 years, Pam, and his grandchildren in Bundaberg. Chris said one of the major highlights of his entire career was between 2005 and 2006 when Riviera built a record 420 boats with 1100 staff on-site at Coomera. Scott began his four-year apprenticeship with Riviera in 1990 and upon graduating worked in various roles within the organisation including, boat building, lamination, stainless steel, engineering, electrical, and new product development. In 1993, he was awarded Queensland apprentice of the year and after the Excalibur project, he went on to pursue his interest in the business side of the company, obtaining a Diploma of business in 1998. In 1999, Scott began his Masters in Business Administration. He graduated in 2001 and was contracted to set up a production facility for a new company selling wakeboard products, Tige Boats Australia. During this time, he remained in his strategic NPD role at Riviera and moved from the costing and finance side into a planning role where he held that position until 2009 when he was offered a position with Grand Banks in Malaysia. At the age of 35, Scott relocated to Malaysia where he oversaw the development and design of four new Grand Banks models. After three-and-a-half years in this role, Scott wanted to return to Australia, so the offer to return to Riviera as commercial manager in July of this year was one that he could not turn down.

Viking Angels

As Viking recovers from Hurricane Sandy, the hearts cry for 25 workers living in low lying areas whose homes were seriously damaged or destroyed due to flooding and high winds. Viking's Human Resources and Health Services Departments quickly spearheaded a drive to collect clothing, food, personal and sundry items from the Viking family for members in need. Overnight the third floor cafeteria resembled a department store, and as we work through this difficult time we offer hope and a ray of sunshine to those who need our love, help and support. Thanks to all who have contributed. Better days are ahead.

Viking Sunshine

Viking family member, Sonny Middleton recently was awarded the Rybovich Lifetime Achievement Award for his billfish conservation efforts. Sonny is no stranger to hurricanes as his Dog River Marina in Mobile, Alabama, has borne its share of hurricane damage over the years. When he looks you in the eye and flashes his brilliant smile, you know immediately Sonny is the real deal. His handshake feels like a vice and his "can-do" personality flows like a mighty river. On learning about the misfortune of Viking workers, he sent along a check for $5,000 to help them during this difficult time. Thank you, Sonny. Thank you for always being there.

Project: CNM 33 Continental

CNM acronym for Cantieri Navali Meditterreaneo from Rome presents a new entry level project model the 33 Continental.  This new small CNM builds on the features of previous Continental models as the 50 and 43 with the opening side bulkheads being a main characteristic. In the 33 Continental the opening side bulk heads apart of being a terrace also are the bathing platform of the boat.  I am not so sure of this idea, replacing the stern platfrom though for practical reasons.  How about when one is moored with other boats to the sides?  Anyways the 33 Continental is still in design and hopefully a choice of aft bathing platform will be available.  The 33 Continental also offers a small cabin inside with a double Vee berth and a shower head.  The dining area is in the centre of the cockpit deck which thanks to the turning of the helm and co-pilot seat can making a table for four persons.  Power to a very performance orientated two step deep Vee hull shape is twin gas petrol Mercruisers 265 or 350hp engines with stern drive propulsion.  Top speeds estimated are 58 knots with the big Mercruiser choice.

New Model: Lazzara 64 LSX

After a period in which Lazzara always looked in expanding its size, the US builder now looks back to its entry level and presents a new small 64 model.  The new 64 LSX model was launched officially at the 2012 Fort Lauderdale boat show, and continues Lazzara sport yacht line expansion which goes up to the still in building stages 120.  The LSX series was always a US builder perspective to European looks, and has been a success story from Lazzara.  This new 64 LSX builds on the foundations what was shown with the 74 back in 2006, high performance light weight construction, latest technology, and pod drives for maximum efficiency.  In all this Lazzara presents a comfortable interior with a spacious three all en-suited double cabins interior which thanks to the pod drives would not feel out of place in a sport yacht bigger by five feet.  Interesting in all this is the full beam owners stateroom to midships which also features a walk-in wardrobe, a nice sofa, and a make up desk.  The galley and a dining area are also located in the lower deck, which leaves the main deck with a C-shaped lounger dedicated for relaxing purposes.  The Lazzara LSX 64 is powered by twin Volvo 900hp with IPS pods with max speeds up to 35 knots.

Improve-it = Galeon 380 Fly

Like all Galeon yachts and cruisers the 380 Fly presented in the early part of 2012 at German Dusseldorf show comes in many different wood choices for its interior.  Hull number one was in fact finished in Walnut, and now Galeon just delivered a new more modern Wenge wood version.  As other Galeon bigger and smaller yachts, the 380 Fly is also available with; cheery, mahogany, and oak wood choices.  This semi custom choice differentiates Galeon from many other production builders and give the owners a taste of his personality when choosing his boat.  These customizations are also available from the entry model 290 upwards.  Showing these new additions the 380 Fly continues to be a unique model in this size format thanks to its three cabins layout; a choice of more efficient to run stern drive or less maintenance shaft line propulsion, and Volvo engines from 220 till 380hp option.

New Model: Sea Ray 510 Sundancer

Sea Ray made its 2012 year a very important one from the new model perspective, presenting a total of six novelties.  Most important all these new models represented a new step for Sea Ray from the entry level 21 Jet, to the European layout mid size sport cruiser 350 Sundancer, or the invisible outboard 370 Venture.  This new 510 Sundancer is the flagship of the new models presented but also of its Sport Yachts line featuring five models and starting with the 410 Sundancer.  Filled with a European personality this new Sea Ray records the largest view windows serving the lower accommodation plan from the US builder.  It also offers a full coupe experience to speak in Automotive language thanks to a fully enclosed main deck pilot house with sunroof plus patio door fully protecting or opening the area. The 510 Sundancer also offers diversity in the options department being available with ZF Zeus pods instead of the standard line shafts and also as a three cabins version.  In the standard two cabins plan the 510 Sundancer lower deck features a full beam midships owners room, VIP suite to fore, and an L-shaped saloon with galley opposite.  The interior of the main deck offers a C-shaped settee to port with an entertainment unit opposite, and a swiveling twin helmsman seat which can become part of the area when you are at anchor, this being an unusual in a fifteen meter sport yacht.  Engines are standard twin Cummins 550 or optional 600hp.

Project: Baia 26 Sevolution

PowerYacht already showed you some details of the 26 Sevolution back when this new line concept from Baia was presented in 2010.  At the time this model was named the 24.5 and now the model has been expanded over one meter presenting a larger bathing platform beach area.  The Sea Explorer Vessel Evolution concept is interesting in its technical details, from the unusual hull shape to the design of the living areas outside and inside.  The Baia Sevolution is a far cry from what the South Italian builder usually offers and has offered since the seventies, which is deep-V hulled fast cruisers and yachts.  Fair play to Baia though with the Sevolution the Naples, South Italian boat builder is offering new ideas into an explorer yacht, and innovative ways of space usage.  The 26 Sevolution will feature four double guest cabins, with an owners full beam stateroom located to midships.  Power are not announced but Baia has stated it will use pod drives propulsion for its new series.

Web: Group Beneteau New Web Site

Groupe Beneteau is one of the most known global production boat builders, and now this world brand updates its corporate home website. Founded 1884 in Vendee by fully qualified ship builder Benjamin Beneteau, who sets up Beneteau boat yard building trawlers for fisherman. 24 years pass and as any builder who beats the age of time Benjamin sets provocation in motion when in 1910 he builds the first engine boat called "Vainqueur des Jaloux", Conqueror of the Jealous in English which sets a lot of drama and gets accused this is scaring the fish away. In 1928 Andre Beneteau son of Benjamin takes over yard management duties, and two years later he shows the way forward building "Le Jeannot" a faster design trawler which he christens Poursuivante, translated in English to Pursuer. It is 1945 the ending of World War II, which prompts Vendee and the fishing fleet of the area needing a total rebuild, and Andre pursues his creativity by presenting the first trawler boats with bridges. This is followed in 1955 with more tuna fisherman thinking creating the first live bait storage. In 1964 the third generation Beneteau boat builders Annette Beneteau Roux, brother Andre, and husband Louis-Claude Roux take the helm pursuing the road into recreational boats and the use of fiberglass as a building material. A year later passes and Beneteau exhibits for the first time at the Paris boat show presenting the Peches Promenade concept of fishing pleasure boats. 1967 Beneteau follows more its production instincts launching the Forban and Galion models which achieve great success and are followed by another break through of Baroudeur a pleasure cruiser with living aboard comfort. 1973 sees Andre Beneteau responsible for design present the 32 Evasion first two masted yacht from the brand, and two years later this is followed by what the critics call one of his best projects the Astroblade. Between this in 1974 Beneteau launches a still today model range, its first planning motor boat the Antares, and in 1976 the 30 First designed by Andre Mauric is presented. This also marking a line which is still as at today existent. 1981 sees designer German Frers present the 42 First, recognized at the time as one of the most stable sailboats. In 1982 Beneteau is recognized as the largest production boat builder of the time. A century has passed since its founding in 1984 and Beneteau goes public on the Paris stock exchange. This is followed by more production facilities two years later when Beneteau opens a new building plant in Marion, South Carolina USA. 1987 sees the launch of another line with the Oceanis designed by Philippe Briand, and another innovative 35.5 First with project by Philippe Starck and Jean Berret is launched. 1992 marks the creation of the Beneteau Group with the CNB marking the first acquisition, followed by O'Hara mobile home concept in 1994, Jeanneau in 1995, Wauquiez in 1997 which is sold in 2008, and IRM Leisure home builder in 2007. The company also forms new brands and this starts in 1999 with EYB Yacht Brokerage firm and SGB Finance, followed in 2005 by Beneteau Foundation, and the 2009 Monte Carlo Yacht Spa in charge of Motor Yacht over fifteen metres. Today Groupe Beneteau has six boat building brands: Beneteau, Jeanneau, Lagoon, Prestige, CNB, and the recent Monte Carlo Yachts. Beneteau Group also builds leisure and residential homes.
