Projects: Prestige 550 Flybridge, Prestige 60 S

Prestige continues to present new projects to attack the market, and is aiming to showcase three new models for the fall of 2011.  One of these new projects is the 550 Flybridge with designer Garroni following the themes we have seen on the latest Prestige the 500.  Similar lines outside, and a plan which looks all very the same but adds more space, and new comforts.  But The 550 Flybridge is all new hull set up, wider longer and also features the ZF Zeus aft looking dual propulsion set up instead of Volvo IPS as is for the 500.  Below the theme of the upcoming flagship of the Flybridge range is again similar to what we found on the 500 with three guests cabins having also the owners stateroom with separate stairs and here gaining an office room, and adding a single person crew cabin aft.  Power is from twin Cummins 600hp which give a top speed of 30 knots.
The Prestige 60 S will be the second model of the Yachts Division which was inaugurated in 2009 with the 60 model.   The 60 S follows the themes of the flybridge model but has a lot of elements coming from a sport yacht.  The 60 S is in simple terms a sport bridge version of the 60. What you get in the 60 S is a sleeker sports line with hard top opening on top of the lower helm, and a shorter fly deck which features three settees, and C-shaped dinette.  Down below the theme is similar to that of the 60, living main deck with astern galley, and lower deck three cabins all with private heads, and two berth crew cabin aft.  Power is from twin Volvo 700hp with IPS pods which give a 30 knots top speed.

New Model: Cutwater 28

Cutwater by Fluid Motion presents its second model, with the 28 flagship.  The bigger Cutwater is similar to the smaller 26 sister PowerYacht showed a couple weeks ago, with everything being that little bit extra spacious.  Non the less the 28 although measuring 32 feet over all is indeed a trailer boat.  But this is not done to sacrifice what is a very comfortable all year use cruising boat, which has a lot of substance and thinking going into its design. Meaning that just as the smaller 26, the Cutwater 28 is a boat for cruising at sea.  The 28 features the unique Cutwater hull which is a planing hull with keel, and a step.  Accommodation sleeps four in two areas, plus a convertible extra berth in a saloon, plus a galley on the main deck, and a separate shower head.  The aft cockpit is where the 28 feels more spacious to the 26. For easy manoeuvring bow and stern thruster are standard, with extra comforts as 2.7 kw generator being optional.  Power is from a single Yanmar 260hp, which should give about 30 knots of top speed.

Project: Azimut 60 Flybridge

Azimut presents the 60 Flybridge project, what is a further development of the 58 model launched in 2007.  The visible changes of the 60 are apparent all following what was shown in the new 64 presented the fall of last year 2010.  Like new lower fin shape windows to the upper cabin being more distinctive, and glass inserts on the outer part of the radar arch of the flybridge.  Inside the changes will be more subtle but Azimut do hint of some minimal changes in the main deck, as well as the galley.  The flybridge by this modified rendering seems also improved now featuring a larger settee to starboard.  It will be interesting to see if Azimut will follow what was presented in the new 45 of a very modular flybridge into other models of the range.  I'd say why not.

Project: Sanlorenzo SL94

Sanlorenzo continue to show new models, and again with the help of Francesco Paszkowski  present the project for the SL94.  In this new project of two and half decks Francesco follows the Sanlorenzo family style of raised pilot house design as presented in the mid nineties with the 100, and later followed with the 88, 108, and recent SL104. This project follows the themes seen on Sanlorenzo latest launch the 2010 presented SL104; like a flybridge dedicated all for entertainment, four meter plus tender stowage in aft garage, and larger port holes.  Larger in the Sanlorenzo World, that means do not expect the glued windows as you see in more modern fancy looking yachts.  Down below the SL94 will accommodate eight guests in four spacious suites, with the owners stateroom located to midships.  The main deck is all dedicated for relaxing with an entrance aft filled with relaxing sofas, and moving to fore in a separate area which is dedicated to dining, and cooking.  Crew accommodation is located to fore below, also forming a sound proofing element to the VIP cabin located behind.  The SL94 will also be available to order in a hard top version as above, and open with radar arch to be covered if desired by a bimini.  Power is for standard twin Cats 1890hp, and optional MTU 2100hp.  This last optional choice should give top speeds of 29 knots.

The updates mostly concern the outside with the new 42 having larger windows everywhere from the port holes in the cabins, to the wrap around windscreen, and the lower view panoramic from the saloon now being double in size to the old version.  Inside the changes are more subtle with the 42 taking a more modern approach to the interior fittings.  Power is again from twin Volvo standard 370 and optional 435hp engines.

Project: Fairline 38 Targa GT

Better late then never or so they say.  I have been waiting for a hard top Fairline 38 Targa for quite some time and finally the British, Oundle based boat builder presents the Gran Turismo version for this 2006 launched model.  Fairline actually delivered more then just a hard top with power sliding canvas roof to the 38 Targa Gran Turismo, and they also upgraded the interior and added three new vertical feature windows to the guest midships cabin.  Here the accommodation has been increased with the option of a sofa that converts to a third berth in the guest cabin and following customer feedback, entry here has also been significantly improved.  With this option the 38 Targa now sleeps a total of seven persons including the convertible saloon. The 38 Targa Gran Turismo will also add a new Volvo engines option of the new 400hp stern drive which goes along the standard 260hp, and optional 300 and 370 units.  A top speed of  45 knots is being anticipated with the new 400hp Volvo engines.

Improve-it = Outer Reef 70 Motoryacht

Outer Reef Yachts from USA have appointed Ken Freivokh to design custom interior for some of its models.  This very high profile design collaboration for Outer Reef will surely increase brand awareness to the US company.  First designs by Ken Freivokh show an update for the 70 Motoryacht main deck interior decoration and fittings, which is now more modern looking and contemporary as the above rendering shows.  The Outer Reef 70 Motoryacht weighs at about sixty tons, and is powered by twin Cat engines of 503hp each.  Top speed is 13 knots with cruising being at about 11 knots, with this giving over 1000 nautical miles range with the smallest fuel tank option of 7500 liters.
