New Model: Tornado 50

Tornado presents its new important flagship the 50 Classic, a big fully open sport yacht. The new big Tornado takes similar characteristics of its most successful model, the 38 and puts them in a fifteen meter size. But Tornado and head designer Franceso Guida did not only follow outside lines but also the practical elements, and the economic way of the entry level Tornado. Lets say the economic ways of building and running the 38 are all part of the new 50 Classic. That means not only Classic for looks but also the running and a more simple way of going on the water. Tornado does also not exaggerate on the accommodation front by keeping sleek lines a fundamental characteristic to this new flagship. Project: Sessa C32

Sessa continues its new boat development program, and just after launching the C48 a few weeks ago in Genoa presents the project for its new entry level sport cruiser the C32. This model seems to be a replacement to the C30, although there is still no official word about this. What surely strikes the attention in the C32 is the hard top made of light canvas and fiber-glass which covers a big part of the cockpit, aft deck. Another surprise comes from Sessa putting the owners room to mid ship in this size of nine meters sport cruiser. Below is also a salon which converts to a double, shower head, and galley. Here Sessa also continues its recent trademark colors and joinery as seen on the latest models; chocolate leather, and cinnamon coloured walnuts. Tender space is also thought for with a standard extended platform giving space for a small sized rib. Power will be Volvo choices, twin diesel 200hp, or petrol 220hp.

Improve-it = Sciallino S23 Cabinato

Sciallino are proud to announce their first hybrid boat born on the S23 Cabinato in cooperation with Mizuno Marine from Japan, and Italian Scandiesel. Sciallino first hybrid powered craft with diesel and electrical engine will be introduced at the Yokohama boat show in Japan on March 2011. A new step in developing a modern and ecological boat, based this time on an entry level traditional cruiser the S23 Cabinato model. The Steyr engine running diesel mode will drive the Sciallino's to the open Japanese sea and ocean, thus emphasizing the hull's strength and seaworthiness. On the other hand, one could turn the diesel off, to activate the electrical modem and the traditional gozzo hull will softly glide by the shore, quiet and respectful for the environment, with the great efficiency of full displacement cruising. It seems many builders are trying hybrid power, although this seems so far more of interest to large plus seventy feet sizes, all smaller to nine meters boats.

The aft deck is a C-shaped settee, dual seat helm station, wet bar, and convertible expandable sun lounger to aft. As the FX4 expect exclusive luxury and performance fittings in all areas here. Trojan Year

We are in the end of the 2010 year and unlike the forecast as at January many boat builders are still left hammering and suffering the crisis. 2010 has been a surprise Trojan year, and while many where thinking that the worst seen in 2009 was over we have seen quite a few builders in difficulty, with some companies also going bankrupt this year. May be reality is that this is the size of the market we have to live for the short term ahead, and after a decade of two digits growth the industry is realigning itself.
2010 showed the market to be still slow to what regards most sizes of new boat sales, and the used brokerage market while picking up in sales in recent months still remains on the over supply of things. This last definitely happened thanks to easy credit of banks and leasing schemes as before 2008 which brought loads of new customers to the yachting world.
The year which is ending also showed the full extent of the crisis to the UK builders, who in 2009 in the full force of the recession had the advantage of the weak pound which at the time helped reduce the inside pressure thanks to competitive exporting prices, and also for making importing boats in the UK looking much more expensive. While the pound is still away from its stronger side, the UK currency today is in more solid territory to how it was in the early part of 2009, and this actually saw two British builders change owners, and a third the well known Sunseeker who in the middle of the year also needed the entrance of fresh capital and a new major share holder.
The good side of 2010 seems to come from the US and some innovative products who seem to capture the attention of the market. The big apple, country home to the largest boating market and users in the World has seen better sales in 2010 with the increase coming from the smaller sub fifty feet sizes. While prise for innovation has also been a characteristic in the second part of the year with semi displacement or a hybrid of this hull shape with attention for a more economic to run cruisers and yachts, capturing more to the expected customer following.
