Project: Jarrett Bay 46 Sportfisherman Hull #57

Jarrett Bay presents its hull number 57 project with the 46 Sportfishermam. This new Jarrett Bay build is all making the news starting from its commissioner who is Nascar driver Jeff Burton, to its innovations. The 46 Sportfisherman will in fact be Jarrett Bay's first pod drive Sportfish boat, and will also have a lower windshield, and a second interior helm station. The innovations of the 46 are actually competitive with those of a large production builder. Inside the Jarrett Bay 46 Sportfisherman is a two cabin, and two shower head layout. It will also boast two galleys. One is a day galley on the main deck looking to aft, and another below being a fully equipped gourmet kitchen. As any serious sportfish the outside aft deck will be spacious for serious game fishing and will feature the not to miss mezzanine settee. Powering the ZF Zeus pods of the Jarrett Bay will be twin Cats 575hp. Caterpillar have been a long time sponsor of Jeff Burton Nascar campaigns so it was fairly obvious the choice would fall on them. Like any Jarrett Bay a cold molding jig method construction is used and the Carolina builder is planning to finish the 46 Sportfisherman in a timely efficient one year period.

New Model: Corvette 340

The new Corvette 340 has been successfully launched, with the first unit being shipped to the old home of the brand in Britain. The U.S. will see its first 340 in early July. Corvette's new 340 offers a larger owner's stateroom and a wider main saloon. By widening the raised aft deck to the full width of the hull, a spacious aft cabin complete with separate head and shower compartments has been created. Here you get a center line double berth, a large hanging locker, a desk/vanity and abundant storage cabinets and drawers. The living space of the exterior aft deck is also increased. The main saloon and galley of the new 340 is also larger than that of the smaller recently updated 320. The vessel's side decks have been narrowed on each side, but being wide enough to move about safely. This new design gave an extra foot in interior space making the interior saloon more spacious. Added space in width also increased the size of the flying bridge. Standard on the 340 is an extended fiberglass swim platform, which makes it easier to board from the tender and also provides room to stow a dinghy vertically on brackets. Power for the 340 will be from twin Yanmar 315hp diesel engines as standard. Twin Volvo 330hp or Cummins 330hp engines are offered as optional. Hull number one which was powered with twin Cummins 330hp reached top speeds of 24 knots.

Project: Mano 33 Ribman

South Italian boat builder Mano presents the project of the 33 Ribman. As the name clearly states the 33 Ribman will be a Rib Cruiser of medium dimensions with a rigid hull. This will also be Mano's first rib boat. The concept of the Ribman follows to a certain extent what we have seen with the other recently presented Mano project the 32 Gran Sport. Meaning that a big consideration is given to the exterior spaces. Still the Mano does offer a small cabin inside with a two berth facility. The space inside is less to the 32 Gran Sport but as any respected Rib the one outside is larger. Impressive is also the maximum available power with a twin 660hp option available. Certification will be to a CE B standard.

Powerboat P1 - 2010 Championship Cancelled

Like a storm in good weather I announce what appeared on the Powerboat P1 website the past Thursday 1st April titled Statement from the Chairman Asif Rangoonwala. In poor words this is a declaration from the Powerboat P1 boss that the 2010 championship concerning the Evolution and Supersport classes is cancelled for this year. This is sad news indeed, and also more to this an unexpected one.
Mr. Asif Ragoonwala cites in his statement the thirty million Euros he spent to make P1 a bigger sport since he acquired the championship in 2003, and the difficulty he has encountered to make it profitable. A mission which in this letter he admits to have failed, and saying that the P1 circus is actually unsustainable in its current business model. Without going into further detail the P1 chairman says that unlike other sports there is no revenue in P1 like ticketing and TV rights to make money from. He also says that the sponsoring interest to the sport is very limited.
Still after all what I have read in this Statement and on the other news section like the Offshore Only forum I am surprised by all this. Mostly because how things where being promoted on the P1 website like the great announcement of the first live television coverage promised for the final of the 2010 season in Syracuse Grand Prix on Eurosport, and the buying of the Formula Four rights now renamed as the new P1 Superstock championship.
While Mr.Asif deserves all power boater racers and fans admiration for what he has done to the sport in the last years to make it a World class competition, questions are left unanswered. Why make these announcements? Why do the much wanted but costly Eurosport move? I am sure that fans and participants seeing the recession of the recent period would have been just as happy with a 2009 format to pass this difficult economic time frame once again. Surely as a big follower to P1 I am the least to be angry, but I also think the competing teams deserve better respect to this. The teams who where preparing for the season challenges like Lucas Oil who bought a new boat the fall of 2009, or the Chaudron family who rumours is they are finishing a new Evolution boat, or the entry of the official Pantera racing squad with a newly 41 feet Supersport, and any other team who was going to participate to this year season etc etc. May be an announcement like this should have been made to the least at the end of 2009, not just a month before the races where supposed to start in Ukraine.

New Model: Grand Banks 46 Eastbay SX

Grand Banks Yachts celebrated the international debut of its new 46 Eastbay SX at the 2010 Eurasia Boat Show. Like many of its new models, the 46 Eastbay SX combines timeless nautical styling with new and innovative technologies, a combination that has won strong acclaim for the company in markets around the world. Chief among new technologies is the Zeus propulsion system, with joystick docking control, reduced noise and emissions, superior maneuverability and improved fuel efficiency. In factory sea trials with standard twin 600hp Cummins diesels, the 46 Eastbay SX reached top speeds of over 30 knots. The 46 Eastbay SX is the second Grand Banks to offer Zeus pod drives, after the trawler-styled 41 Heritage EU that launched in 2008. Like the 41EU, this new Eastbay was designed to take full advantage of the Zeus system and its compact footprint to open up more room for accommodations. As a result, owners can opt for a two or a three cabin layout, a noteworthy feature for a vessel of this size. The 46SX continues the stylish evolution that other recent models have brought to the Eastbay Series. Owners can choose from a standard galley down or optional main deck version that maintains plenty of seating in the salon. Class-leading amenities include standard Stidd helm seats, granite counter tops, and handcrafted teak throughout. With an optional power sunroof, and a standard aft salon window that disappears at the touch of a button, the bright and airy salon opens gracefully to the aft cockpit where built in seating and hand laid teak add to the comfort and luxury. Like all previous models in the series, this newest Eastbay uses the same C.R. Hunt Associates designed hull that has won broad acclaim for its solid, seaworthy handling.

Projects: Sea Spirit 51 Passagemaker, Sea Spirit 55 Passagemaker, Sea Spirit 75 Passagemaker

After succesfully launching its first 60 Passagemaker model Sea Spirit follows it up with farther projects confirming its attention to make a complete line of full displacement explorer yachts all designed by the renowned Sparkman & Stephens studio firm. The 60 Passagemaker so far delivered in four examples has been acclaimed by the press for its timeless style, efficient arrangement, exquisite finish and extraordinary cruise range. The 51 Passagemaker will be Sea Spirit's entry level model, and will offer a similar style to its bigger sisters. Sea Spirit estimate a 9 knots top speed with a single 250hp Lugger engine, which give a range of up to 5000 nautical miles. Its lower deck accommodation offers a twin double cabins plan with two heads. The owners master stateroom is located to midship which gives less water slapping noise and rolling. The Sea Spirit 55 Passagemaker wants to be an intermediate model between the entry level 51 and the 60 models. Sparkman & Stephens again followed the exterior looking lines with a small ship style design. Sea Spirit have forward little detailed specification but what you get more to the smaller 51 is surely extra space in every part of the 55. Sea Spirit offer again a similar plan below decks to the smaller 51 with a full beam owners cabin to midship and VIP guest cabin to fore. The 75 Passagemaker is the second in size bigger project from Sea Spirit, being only smaller to the planned 88 Passagemaker. Displaying at a light load weight of 83 tons the 75 will offer various alternative layouts with a total of seven different choices between flybridge, main saloon, and lower deck plans. Without going into much detail the variety is surely in the choice for the lower deck which is available in four different choices. Here you can choose between a three or four cabin version, and a master stateroom to fore or aft.

Projects: Princess 40M, Princess 32M

The news of Princess over one hundred feet entry was a big news in January 2009, and now finally one of England's biggest builders give better detailed exterior renderings to the previous blurred image for its upcoming flagship models. Pictured above is the biggest of the two presented project models, what is the long range triple decked super yacht 40M. This future Princess flagship is scheduled for launch late in 2011 and will offer an unprecedented level of luxury and personalisation. Eminently capable of accommodating twelve guests in six cabins she also provides separate accommodation for up to eight crew members. The owner is accommodated in a magnificent suite on the main deck while throughout the yacht there is an incredible amount of scope for personalisation ensuring she is a very worthy flagship for the Princess fleet. Second in the rendering images will be the first of the large new M range Princess which keeps up with the offer of exceptional levels of personalisation so each will be truly individual. The 32M offers extremely spacious spaces for a cruising yacht, providing luxurious accommodation for up to ten guests in five cabins and can be configured with either three of four en-suite staterooms for guests in addition to the owner’s suite, which takes pride of place on the main deck. Scheduled launch is for the fall of this year. Both of these new flagship models will be built at the new Devonport Princess building facility.

New Model: Cayman 620 Bridge

Italy's Cayman Yachts revisits there 62 Fly with the presentation of the new 620 Bridge. The Bridge series will serve as a new line for the modern looking motor yachts from Cayman which concentrates on the bigger over fifty feet size. While still looking identical on the outside to the old 62 Fly, the new 620 Bridge features a more spacious interior to the previous model and will also have a more semi customization to the finishing of the yacht. For example an owner in the new 620 Bridge can choose a modern Wenge interior with an open galley layout on the main deck, while another may opt for a classic mahogany finishing with closed galley. While personalization has always been important with the Cayman brand, the new Bridge series will put this into a new dimension for customers who want a yacht made to their image. Projects: Mulder 1500 Favorite, Mulder 1600 Favorite

Following the presentation of the Mulder 1400 Favorite a few weeks back, it was next to complete the two other projects concerning this new range from the Dutch builder. Today we present you the Mulder 1500 and 1600 of the new Favorite range. Like the smaller 1400, the Mulder 1500 Favorite is available with a round bilge or a chine shaped hull with a conventional shaft propulsion. The client has also the option of various power choices from twin 150hp up to 435hp Volvo engines. This will allow the yacht to reach a maximum speed from twelve to 27 knots. The Mulder 1500 Favorite interior is open and well thought through with a wheelhouse consisting of a large C-shaped seating dinette area, luxury TV stand, and optional rinsing unit. The steering position has an excellent view over the ship’s bow. A galley is located one level below and can be reached via a staircase next to the steering position, and can be fitted with various amenities. Below you have a twin cabins with owners suite to fore, and a second shower head. You also get a three metre big tender garage aft. The first 1500 Favorite is currently under construction and will be a round bilged hull with a conventional propeller shaft system, powered by twin Volvo 330hp engines. The Mulder 1600 Favorite project just like its smaller sister has also been developed in close partnership with Guido de Groot and Vripack Naval Architects. Unlike its sister though the 1600 is only available with a round bilge hull. Again the 1600 Favorite follows a similar choice of power options, from twin 150hp up to 435hp Volvo engines. The round bilge shape makes this yacht perfectly suited to comfortable cruising, from ten knots up to a 25 knots top speed. A catching feature is the irregular shape of the bow, which in contrast to the almost sheer shape of the Favorite 1400 and 1500 model, the 1600 will feature a more traditional angled form. The Mulder 1600 Favorite interior will also offer two layout choices. A three double cabins single heads plan, or a two cabins two heads layout. This last giving two en suited heads to both owner and guest cabins. Up on the main deck we find again an open wheelhouse layout, with an intermediate galley located between the main and lower deck.
