Project: Ritchie Howell 54 Convertible

Ritchie Howell presents the project for a 54 Convertible, to be built as usual to this Carolinas US builder in the cold molding jig method and to a design of Mathews Yachts.  An innovative project from a sportfisher point of view featuring a lower helm, and ZF pod drives propulsion.  The bridge helm will also be located to forward, something unusual for a sportfish which for the most past feature a central console in the aft part of the flybridge in order to be in touch with fishing operations on the aft deck.  Below accommodation will be a three cabins with two shower heads layout.  Power will be from Cat 1200hp with ZF pods with top end speed being of 40 knots and cruise in the mid high thirties.  Splash for this custom build is slated for the end of this year.

Project: Ritchie Howell 60 Express

Ritchie Howell from North Carolina USA continues its pursuit in building custom sport fish cruisers and yacht.  Here the builder shows a project for a 60 Express which shares a similar hull with the Convertible series of the same length.  Designed by Matthews Yacht a lot of innovation seems to be going into this project into its layout, propulsion and systems.  The lower deck will in fact feature a full beam owners stateroom, with crew quarters located to fore, and large galley and saloon in between. Two en suite heads will serve the owner and crew quarters respectively.  The other latest innovations in this model will come from its propulsion which will be the large ZF pods system, and the use of a Seakeeper gyro stabilizer.  Twin Cats C18 Acert will power the new Ritchie Howell 60 Express to a 40 plus knots of top speed.

Project: Ritchie Howell 54 Express

Custom Sportfish builder Ritchie Howell and design studio Applied Concepts break the mold with the 54 Express project, not only for its IPS propulsion but for an interior which says more luxury. The 54 Express challenge starts with the outside deck, which is a four steps split level area which joins the free combat low to the water aft deck, to the more entertaining raised part, where in between all this you get today's sport fishing must have of a mezzanine aft looking sofa seat. The unusual here is the modern C-shaped settee on the raised part, which is joined by an exterior galley and a central located three seat helm station. Below deck the similarities with a Sport Yacht go further, having a layout plan for a two cabins, twin en-suite shower heads, galley and L-shaped settee. Don't be mistaken but to think this is a standard plan as the owners master stateroom is a full beam affair with personal office, and the forward cabin is a VIP suite. Ritchie Howell and Applied Concepts also offer a choice to the mid cabin which can be changed for a two by double berths sleeping four adults instead of the owners stateroom plan. The only thing in question in this version is that it is a single room, although being Ritchie Howell a custom builder who builds in cold molding I am sure a compromise could be found for making this a full three cabin layout. Currently in an advanced stage of construction the 54 Express will be powered by Volvo IPS900 twin 700hp engines with forward looking dual propeller pod drives, which the builder estimate should give a 150 litres per hour diesel consumption at 34 knots cruise. www.ritchiehowell.com

New Model: Ritchie Howell 42 Express

Custom Carolina builder Ritchie Howell completed its 42 Express in the last December month of 2009. This express was built for an owner who made the upgrade from an eight metre production boat, to a thirteen metre custom made to measure build. A big change not only in size but also concept, of what is a boat made to your wishes. The 42 Express was built to the usual Ritchie Howell cold mold jig method, with structures in wood covered with fibre glass and epoxy. Interior wise the owner opted for a three berth forward cabin, custom couch in saloon, shower head, and large galley which also features an ice maker, Subzero freezer/refrigerator, and a custom granite counter top. Inside finishing is figured cherry wood cabinetry. Interesting is also the more to the standard sized mezzanine feature on the aft deck. The 42 Express is also equipped with latest Sportfish amenities like tackle rod storage throughout, Release Marine helm, Release fighting chairs, Rupp riggers, custom tower with second station controls, in-transom kill box, freshwater ice maker with ice dump for fish box, and a cockpit bait freezer. Performance is respectable to the usual custom standards with twin 775hp Cats giving a 40 knots top speed.
