Project: Metamarine TNT 51 Magnum

Metamarine from Italy is a very interesting young boat builder, and here it presents a new flagship the TNT 51 Magnum, its third production model.  Founded by the passion of Marco Pennesi who went on to race in the Endurance series with great success; first winning the Supersport championship in 2004 and then taking the prime Evolution series in 2010 with the 46 model.  This new model TNT 51 Magnum continues to represent Marco's tribute in racing of a fast diesel powerboat, with yacht comfort, high technology, and impressive sea keeping abilities.  It will feature a large cockpit deck able to seat eight persons, with an interior having two separate cabins sleeping four, plus two extra berths in the convertible dinette.  Power will be twin 950hp engines with Metamarine home made surface drives rudder system, trim tabs, and propellers.  Performance which is the prime motivator of the TNT 51 Magnum will be a top speed of 70 knots, and a cruise of 50 knots which gives a range of eight hours or 400 nautical miles.

Project: Metamarine TNT48 Montecarlo

Metamarine presents the project of the TNT48 Montecarlo, a further evolution of the recently launched Replica, and racing prototype Corsa model.  The TNT 48 Montecarlo uses the same underwater shape as the Replica with a more agressive looking super structure, notice the large engine air intakes.  Power will also be from bigger engines to the Replica with big twin 940hp Seateak engines being the only choice so far to power this made in Italy powerboat.  As is accepted Metamarine surface drives will be propelling the 48 Montecarlo to top speeds of 82 knots.  The interior of this model seems similar to the 48 Replica with a double berth to fore peak, two vertical sofa lounges, galley, and shower head.  But the rendering do show a more natural whitish with wood inserts interior.

New Model: Metamarine TNT 48 Replica

Metamarine new model has long since been announced as a project, but finally the TNT 48 Replica made its debut in the fall of 2010. The TNT 48 Replica has benefited of a high level research and design, that is much often unseen in power boat building today. Although the first Metamarine represents an evolution of stepped deep Vee hull, the improvement which this has undergone from the competing 46 Corsa sister is unique. Worth to remember is that the 46 Corsa has since 2005 participated in the top Evolution class of the UIM Endurance championship, and won the World title last year in 2010 a month before the presentation of this model. Metamarine also won the production Supersport class in 2004. Metamarine unique research has benefited into everything being done with thinking from engines which have always been diesel in the racing boats, Sollevamax trim tabs, and Variante surface drive propulsion. The TNT 48 Replica will also boast the usual powerboat style interior accommodation, sleeping four, and featuring a galley, and separate shower head. The power choice is also unique for these type of boats, as most of the competition which comes the USA has usually petrol gas power, with the 48 Replica featuring twin diesel engines from Isotta Fraschini or SeaTek which start at 850 and go up to 950hp. Propulsion comes also from inside with the Metamarine designed and build unique Variante surface drive system, which joins a trimming moving shaft with a rudder capability. Top speed is a safety limited of 85 knots.

Project: Metamarine TNT48 Replica

After years of announcing it Metamarine boss Marco Penessi finally presents the production version of his TNT46 Corsa, with the TNT48 Replica. A machine which comes from his yard in San Benedetto del Tronto in Italy, and is build around winning diesel power which just a couple of days ago gave the World Evolution title to the Corsa version against the very challenging and renowned US petrol powered units. This is the second time Metamarine takes the title, after doing so in 2004 for the speed limited Super Sport class. Now comes a first in Evolution class, after five years of hard work and improvements on the 46 Corsa hull. Something rare in recent years from a European boat builder, but the TNT48 Replica brings the baggage of experience of the competition from the top Evolution class, with a fast diesel powerboat offering cruising amenities for four persons. The hull shape is a two step with the last of these flowing air to the aft in order to help lift the boat. Another rare detail is the transmission which is also build in house by Metamarine, what is a surface drive with a unique combination of turning and trimming shafts, and a central single rudder similar from a certain point of view to the old Levi Drive Unit. Construction is of sandwich Kevlar type, guaranteeing the best strength to weight combination. Also marking a return to production units are the engines which will be from twin Isotta Fraschini of 850hp. Isotta Fraschini was a legendary name for light weight high powered diesel units in the eighties. These twin diesel units should give a top speed of 80 knots, and a 280 nautical miles range.
