New Model: Corvette 340

The new Corvette 340 has been successfully launched, with the first unit being shipped to the old home of the brand in Britain. The U.S. will see its first 340 in early July. Corvette's new 340 offers a larger owner's stateroom and a wider main saloon. By widening the raised aft deck to the full width of the hull, a spacious aft cabin complete with separate head and shower compartments has been created. Here you get a center line double berth, a large hanging locker, a desk/vanity and abundant storage cabinets and drawers. The living space of the exterior aft deck is also increased. The main saloon and galley of the new 340 is also larger than that of the smaller recently updated 320. The vessel's side decks have been narrowed on each side, but being wide enough to move about safely. This new design gave an extra foot in interior space making the interior saloon more spacious. Added space in width also increased the size of the flying bridge. Standard on the 340 is an extended fiberglass swim platform, which makes it easier to board from the tender and also provides room to stow a dinghy vertically on brackets. Power for the 340 will be from twin Yanmar 315hp diesel engines as standard. Twin Volvo 330hp or Cummins 330hp engines are offered as optional. Hull number one which was powered with twin Cummins 330hp reached top speeds of 24 knots.

Project: Corvette 340

Corvette Marine, now owned by Fleming Yachts, is introducing its second model with the new 340, a family Explorer Cruiser that is now under construction along with the improved 320 launched in mid summer. The Corvette models are now being built at the Tung Hwa boat building facility in Taiwan, along the new owners renowned Fleming's Explorer Yachts which have been built there since 1986. The new Corvette 340 will offer more interior living space, a larger flying bridge area and a more spacious aft deck than the 320. It also features an extended fiberglass swim platform. Extending the aft deck to the full width of the hull creates a large aft master stateroom that features a central double berth, and a separate head with shower stall. Forward, a second stateroom features twin berths, and a private head with shower. The beam of the 340 side decks are eighteen inches wide providing easy access to the bow from port and starboard, and the teak decking ensures sure footing. These slightly narrower decks to six inches per side versus the 320 increase the interior space of the main saloon and galley by a total of one foot making the area more spacious and allow for a twin interior helm seats. The extra width also benefits the flying bridge area, which features a double seat central located helm station. The 340 will be powered by twin Yanmar 315hp diesel engines as standard. Optional Volvo D6 330hp and Cummins QSB 330hp diesels are available as options. Hull number one is expected to debut in Southampton, in March 2010.

New Model: Corvette 320

Following ownership change to Fleming Yachts management, UK builder Corvette presents its new 320, representing a bit of a unique Explorer Cruiser thanks to many cross over features. In fact the new 320 unites the world of faster planning performance to that of a displacement explorer cruiser with unique spaces for its size. Just to make a note the 320 offers accommodation for two cabins, two head plan providing a level of comfort and privacy found only on larger boats. Another surprise is also the performance, which with its traditional, salty looks makes you think trawler, but the 320 will surprise you here too with 25 plus knots speed, and its sea kindly performance. Cruise leisurely and economically all day long at 7 knots or hit the throttles and get to your next destination before the weather turns ugly. Another surprise is that while many boats in this size range offer only single engine power, Corvette took the safety and improved handling route that comes with twin engines, which assures of getting home if you experience a problem with an engine, transmission or running gear, and there's nothing more maneuvering into a tight slip with twins under your command. Corvette also says that the cost of maintaining two smaller engines is the same, as are the running costs concerned with the fuel, versus a bigger single unit. The well thought out deck plan of the Corvette 320 provides the outdoor living space of a 40-footer too, with the helm on the flying bridge being the perfect place to run the 320 in good weather featuring a double helm seat plus two additional, built-in seating areas allow the crew to join the captain while underway. Aft of the flying bridge is an outdoor dining and lounge area complete with two settees and table. Last note is that Fleming is promising the quality of construction and choice of materials associated with its bigger explorer yachts line. The 320 as well as other future Corvette models will be built at the Tung Hwa facility in Taiwan, where the World famous Flemings are also being constructed.
