Cayman Yachts New Web Site

Cayman Yachts presents its new World wide web virtual showroom.  Founded in 1990 by Luigi Prosperi, at the time a Mochi manager and then chairman in 1991, Cayman Yachts starts with a 30 foot model, delivered in seventy examples in ten years of production.  In the beginning and up till 1995 the Cayman models are produced at Mochi Craft, although the brand has always remained a separate entity.  In 1996 Cayman opens its production facility in La Spezia, the Cantieri Navali del Tirreno and launching the 38 Walk Around model designed by Nuvolari Lenard which was the start of good things to come. Nuvolari Lenard will design all the Cayman models till the 50 Fly launched in 2007, with two other models coming in between the entrance of Carlo Trezzi which debuts with the design of the 75 HT in 2008. In 2011 following the Great 2009 Recession Cayman goes under bankruptcy protection, closing its doors in 2012.  In 2016 Cayman is bought by Flag Marine, restarting production in 2017 with the new S450, which is followed a year later by the F920, Cayman largest build to date.  During nearly its first two decades Cayman design philosophy was that of a sport cruiser and yacht with sportfish design solutions for an all free space aft deck, with practical and safe deep walk around side decks as added on the 38 WA which launched in 1996.  Cayman Yachts will use this design up until the 54 WA HT it launched in 2008.  Following this model and the launch of the 75 HT project Cayman starts following a sportier design language.  Cayman currently offers eleven models divided into four ranges; Sport, Flybridge, Navetta, and Walk Around. Cayman range starts from the 2017 presented S450, and goes up to the 2018 launched F920 flagship, while its new 2023 models are the S600 and 540WA, with the N580 still being a project.  Cayman Yachts new website takes you around with the following buttons; Home. New Model: Cayman 540WA

Cayman is making 2023 an important year by presenting two new models in a space of about six months, and after launching the new S600 in February has in the end of July also delivered its first 540WA.  Two different new models; the S600 being all about the Cayman sport yacht identity which made the fortunes of the name in the noughties, and this new 540WA seventeen meter walk around sport yacht a continuation and following of the successful 400WA which debuted in 2021.  Again a design of Ferragni, the designer of all latest Cayman models, the 540WA is a sport yacht walk-around centre console, with opening side-bulk heads and infinite seventeen meter deck space.  The galley and living are all outside on the main deck, just behind the triple seated centre console helm station with a sun-pad located both to fore and aft.  Opening side bulk heads to both port and starboard sides extend the space of the aft deck.  Down below the Cayman 540 WA is offered in two or three cabins layout, with hull one featuring the later version, which features a master room forward, and two guest cabins at midships, and a relaxing L-lounge sofa in between the fore and aft cabins.  The Cayman 540WA is powered by twin Volvo engines with IPS pods drives, and or a speed lover triple Mercury 600hp hidden under the sun-pad outboard set up.  Hull one was fitted with the standard and small for over twenty tons in running order 480hp engines, which according to initial reports reached a top speed up to 28 knots.  Bigger Volvo's 600hp and or 725hp power are available, these two being more in line with the power a sport yacht of this size and displacement deserves.

New Model: Cayman S600

During the Naples, Italy 2023 boat show, Italian boat builder Cayman Yachts presented the new S600 model.  Designed by Ferragni, the designer responsible for all Cayman Yachts onwards from the F920 launched in 2018, the S600 is based on the F580 hull without the flying bridge and thus offering a sportier profile.  Thanks to this the S600 comes looking different outside, sleeker with the trade off of losing the extra space on the flybridge.  For the remaining the Cayman S600 is similar to the F580 with an astern galley main deck layout, and a lower deck with three double cabins, including of which is an owners full beam midships stateroom.  The Cayman S600 hull one is powered by twin Volvo 775hp with twin IPS pod drives as propulsion, the smallest power choice for the S600 with speeds above thirty knots being estimated.  More powerful 900 or 1000hp with IPS pod drives from Volvo, and or Man 800hp with shafts are available.

The Cayman F580 is a bit rare cause it is one of the few flybridge motor yachts in the seventeen meters segment which offers three cabins and three bathrooms.  As quoted on the website the Cayman F580 is powered by twin Man 800hp with line shafts, but hull one was powered with twin Volvo 600hp engines and IPS propulsion which gave an interesting 32 knots performance.

Project: Cayman S600

Presented as a project in 2020 as the S580, Cayman has since then evolved the project and renamed it as the S600.  But this was not just a name change and along the bathing platform extension Cayman also reworked all the window profiles, from those of the hull now larger to those of the upper structure, and also redesigned the air intake. On the the interior the Cayman S600 should be little if any different to the S580 with a three double cabins three head layout sleeping six with a full beam owners stateroom at midships.  A single berth crew cabin is to be located aft.  All the living, dining and galley is located on the main deck.  The Cayman S600 shares hull with the 2021 launched F580 flybridge model, and is to be powered by twin Man 800hp engines.  The first unit of the Cayman S600 is nearly completed with its World wide presentation scheduled for the Naples boat show in March.

Project: Cayman 540WA

Following the success Cayman is having with its 400WA model, the Italian builder is presenting a new bigger seventeen meter 540WA.  Like all recent Cayman the 540WA is a project of Ferragni, who presented a sleek looking exterior and useable deck from fore to aft.  The central dinette and galley are spacious as you can get in this size, with a maximum beam of five meters, and all this can be expanded aft with the opening bulkheads which increase this area space by about twenty percent.  Below deck the Cayman 540WA presents itself as a cruising yacht, with three double cabins, master stateroom forward, two shower heads layout.  In between the cabins is an L-shaped saloon.  A crew cabin is located midships in between the cabins and engine room.  The Cayman 540WA is to be powered by twin Volvo 480hp, or optional 610hp both with IPS pod drives.  An outboard option of triple 600hp Mercury with hidden outboards under the aft sun-pad will also be available.

New Model: Cayman 400 Walk Around

Cayman launch its awaited 400 Walk Around model.  A twelve meter modern European style centre console, the 400 Walk Around is also the new entry level for Cayman Yachts and comes from a design of Ferragni, with Blu Sea doing the naval architecture and engineering part.  The Cayman 400 Walk Around enters and competes in one of the most growing segments in recent years, and today is seeing many builders trying to find ways to enter, the sport cruiser centre console market.  Some builders are doing it reflecting brand identities others are doing by following what is working the most. The Cayman 400 Walk Around has gone the later route.  The 400 Walk Around offers an interior sleeping four or five in a forward double berth, twin single berths at midships, and a single berth to port side.  A shower head is located to starboard upon entrance in the cabin.  As a walk around centre console the main spaces are located outside, and here the 400 WA does not disappoint offering fore to aft areas from the galley located under the T-hard-top to a central dinette, two sun-pads; aft and on the foredeck, and opposite bench settees forward.  The Cayman 400 Walk Around is powered by twin Volvo diesel engines of 380hp or 440hp with IPS pod propulsion, and or triple Mercury 300hp or 400hp outboards.  Hull one is powered by twin Volvo 440hp with IPS pod drives which allowed for forty knots top speeds.

Project: Cayman F580

Cayman continue to upgrade its line and the company which was reborn in 2017, has been a success story.  Here Cayman is showing the F580 project, and as most of the new projects which the company shows in recent times is currently under construction in Italy, and set for launch in Summer 2021.  The Cayman F580 is a flybridge motor yacht coming from a design of Ferragni, who presents a sweet looking seventeen meter motor yacht, which in the rendering strikes a balance of modernity without exaggerations.  The Cayman F580 will offer a main living on the main deck with astern galley layout, while the lower deck offers a three double cabins three heads layout.  Exterior entertainment areas are three; aft deck, flybridge, and foredeck.  The Cayman F580 will be powered by twin Man 800hp engines.

New Model: Cayman S520

Cayman Yachts is pleased to present a preview of the first images of the new S520, the 2020 novelty which will be officially presented as a world premiere at the Genoa boat show in October 2020.  This sport yacht is born on the basis of the F520 Fly Bridge, presented by the shipyard to much success in 2019.  The Cayman S520 is a hard-top with sporty and modern lines without giving up the matrix that has distinguished the shipyard shapes and design, innovative and futuristic features joined to sober lines that have always distinguished the spirit of this Italian builder.  The Cayman S520 is just under sixteen meters long overall, equipped with twin Volvo 480hp engines and IPS propulsion as standard. and optional of Volvo's 600hp again with IPS pod drives, and shaft line engines up to 685hp.  Two propulsion choices give versatility and can be customized according to the navigation style of each customer.  Inside, the boat offers three very comfortable cabins. The owner's cabin is arranged full beam amidships with a comfort comparable to that of larger yachts, with separate bathroom; the VIP cabin forward is equipped with a large double bed and two wardrobes as well as its own bathroom. In addition, a third guest cabin to starboard offers two single beds that can be converted into a double bed through a sliding system of the central bed, with comfort and volume unique to this boat segment; the three cabins are served by two bathrooms with all facilities and with separate shower.  The saloon on the upper deck ensures comfort and liveability; the saloon area has opposing sofas and a retractable TV cabinet, while the kitchen area, equipped with every appliance and necessary services, is located adjacent to the patio door that opens completely into the cockpit creating a unique living room and a trade-union between saloon and external cockpit, for use without compromise.  The Cayman Yachts S520 can be equipped with an optional crew cabin with bed and separate bathroom and shower, with direct entrance from the stern platform to ensure maximum privacy for the owner and his family. The engine room has a perimeter layout for all utilities, designed for maximum visibility and ease inspection and control, thanks also to the generous internal volume, that allows maintenance without particular sacrifices in spaces that are anything but narrow.  No less interesting is the layout of the external deck both forward and aft: in the bow, in addition to the sundeck, there is a very comfortable aperitif sofa to enjoy the view in front both at sea and at anchor; at the stern, the cockpit space can be customized according to the needs of each customer, a sofa with cushions and folding table is proposed, while the rest of the space can be set up according to client needs. Cayman also offers a an aft sun-pad version.  The IPS engines, equipped at request with an electronic stability control system, ensure high comfort navigation, low noise and interesting consumption: just think that the boat, at cruising speed, consumes around 5.8 litters per mile, at a cruise of 19 knots.

Project: Cayman 400 WA

Cayman present the project for a new 400 WA model, a center console with fore to aft deck space.  The Cayman 400 WA continues the collaboration with Ferragni Progetti, which started with the F920 flagship launched in 2018, and was followed with F520 launched in 2019, and the S520 currently in construction for 2020.  For those who know Cayman will know that this is not the first time the WA for walk-around acronym is used, as the company did use it in most of its sport cruiser and yacht models from the mid late nineties up to 2005.  Fair to say these models where different to the new 400 WA as these sport cruisers and yachts where most inspired to an American sportfish design with walk-around designation used for the all around deep safe side deck which they featured.  So far we have very little information on the 400 WA, besides the above design rendering which give a good idea how the main deck layout will be.  An outboard version with triple outboards hidden under the sun-pad will be made, while I imagine diesel inboards with stern drives and IPS pod drives choice.

Project: Cayman S580

Cayman continues with its expansion plans, and presents the S580 project which come again from Italian designer Ferragni, the same person responsible for all latest models; F920, F520, and S520 this last currently under construction and set to launch in Summer 2020.  The Cayman S580 will present itself as a fully enclosed hard top sport yacht, with a three double cabins lower deck layout, all served with private shower heads, and including a full beam owners stateroom.  A one person crew cabin is located aft.  The dining, galley and living are all located on the main deck, and the first layout of the project also see a traditional central main deck located galley.  The Cayman S580 is to be powered by twin Man 800hp with line shaft propulsion.

Project: Cayman S520

Cayman continues its new course and for a 2020 novelty the company presents the project for the S520.  Currently under construction the S520 comes again from the design of Ferragni project, who also designed the well received 2019 new F520, and 2018 F850 flagship models.  The Cayman S520 takes a lot from the design of the flybridge sister and will offer a lower deck with three double cabins including a full beam master stateroom at midships.  The living part of the S520 is located on the main and features an astern galley layout, and a C-shaped dinette forward.  Helm station like Italian yachts of the past is located to port side.  The Cayman S520 is to be standard powered by relatively small for over 18 tons of weight twin Volvo 435hp engines, with IPS forward looking dual propeller pods propulsion.  Speeds are not yet communicated but the flybridge F520 reached top speeds in the high twenties, so expect something similar from the S520.

Restarted in 2016 Cayman new generation prowess does not stop, and after the S450 in 2017, the F920 its largest build to date in 2018, present the F520 for 2019.  Designed by Ferragni the same studio responsible for the F920 flagship model launched in 2018, the F520 presents itself as a middle sized flybridge motor yacht with classic modern Italian exterior styling, and very spacious interior.  All the latest sought design and functional details are featured in the F520, as astern galley, full beam midships owners stateroom worth of that name, and fore deck forward looking settee.  This is a well thought clean designed motor yacht with a lot of comfort, offering a three double cabins interior with two bathrooms, and a crew cabin berth aft.  The Cayman F520 also scores points for well thought spaces in the aft deck and in the flybridge.  The Cayman F520 is powered by twin Volvo 435hp with IPS pod propulsion.

Project: Cayman F520

Cayman yachts continues its philosophy of bringing a new model each year, and for 2019 it will present the new F520 at the upcoming September 2019 Cannes boat show.  Designed by Ferragni who is the design firm responsible for the incredible work they did on Cayman's new 2018 model F920 flagship.  For the second Cayman model the Cremona Lombardy design firm went for more conservative looks outside, looking at certain angles to be a motor yacht from a decade ago.  The upright flybridge design and low radar arch also reminds me to a certain extent of the Cayman 50 Fly launched in 2007.  But the new Cayman F520 is not all nostalgia and here we have some modern touches from the IPS pod propulsion, to the forward bench settee on the fore deck, and large hull side windows.

Project: Cayman Spider 450

Coming from its latest releases of the new F920 flagship in 2018, and S450 in 2017, Cayman Yachts presents the Spider 450 project.  Based on the S450 for hull lines and propulsion the Spider 450 will distinct itself for its open space main deck.  The Cayman Spider 450 will feature a full open main deck space, while its hard-top is fully open on the sides.  The standard interior layout of the Spider 450 by understanding should follow the layout of the S450 with two large cabins, forward VIP and central midships owners room, and a saloon and galley in between.  Power for the Cayman Spider 450 should also be the same as the S450 with twin Volvo 370hp and or optional 435hp engines with IPS pod propulsion.

New Model: Cayman F920

Cayman Yachts continues its comeback and after the presentation of the S450 in the fall of 2017, it pushes harder for 2018 and presents a new flagship which enters the builder in super yacht territory, the new F920. A reminder here is that previous to this the largest Cayman ever build was the 75 HT launched in 2009.  Presented as a project in the fall of 2017 its been a non stop journey to go from concept to completion and the F920 making it in the water in August 2018.  Cayman and designer Ferragni unlike most offers in this 27 to 28 meter size presented what is a sporty looking flybridge super yacht with a raised pilot house that integrates very nice into the design.  Vertical minimal elements integrate into a straight shear-line which emphasizes an aggressive yet modern and in the same time light appearing upper structure.  In some aspects the F920 exterior profile reminds me of mid eighties Paolo Caliari, a nimble looking flybridge super yacht, that does not look to heavy up top.  Inside the Cayman F920 offers an interior with four cabins and an owners stateroom located at midships, very spacious VIP suite forward, and two guest cabins in between.  Cayman F920 will also be offered in a five cabin version, but currently the builder is not showing any plans for this. A crew lobby with two cabins is located at midships in between the engine room and the owners midships room.  The interior main deck is centered around a welcoming saloon, central dinette, day head to starboard, and a galley in the forward end part.  The pilot house is located three steps up centrally, and with this same stair case one can also access the spacious fly deck, which offers for the most part a free area on plan with helm and galley located to starboard, and a central dining table.  In the finishing the Cayman F920 has gone a long way to offer details from Studio Art for leather, lamps by Porta Romana, BandB and Minotti for sofas, and fabrics by Rubelli and Armani. The Cayman F920 hull one is powered by the large engine option of twin MTU 2600hp, but standard engine option is for Man twin 1900hp, and another optional being that of quadruple Volvo 1000hp units with IPS pod propulsion.

Project: Cayman F920

Returning back in full production in 2017 with the presentation and launching of the new S450 model, Italian Cayman yachts continues to present new updates concerning its future showing this project for an important new F920 flaghsip.  The F920 is currently under construction in Italy and is a design to Italian designer Ferragni who previously had work experiences with Baia, Italian Yachts, and also the Capelli small boat and rib range.  The Cayman F920 will compete in the competitive raised pilot house 27 to 28 meter segment, tough at this stage it is not understood if it will feature the desired owners stateroom on the forward part of the main deck.

New Model: Cayman S450

Europe is finally getting out of the recession and a few builders are returning back to producing boats.  Cayman Yachts one of the Italian successes in the first decade of the second millennium is one of these, and presents itself with the totally new S450 presented at the Cannes 2017 boat show.  A project of Paulo Prosperi, son of Cayman Yachts founder Luigi, the S450 comes out as a practical fully enclosed all year round use hard top sports cruisers with modern solutions.  A favorite here is the swiveling window of the cockpit which unites the aft and the main deck into one area.  To be fair this is nothing new, since introduced by Ferretti in around the mid eighties, but after all this time still works out a charm in hiding all the doors and uniting interior to exterior areas when on anchor or at the dock.  Down below the Cayman S450 offers two large en-suited cabins; full beam owners at midships and guest to forward, with an L-shaped sofa and galley in between.  Power for the Cayman S450 is twin Volvo 370hp as fitted to hull one, and or an optional for larger 435hp engines.

Project: Cayman S450

Seeing Cayman yachts return with a new project set to be World presented at the Cannes 2017 boat show is a good moment.  But this lasted little since this project of the new Cayman S450 is different to what the La Spezia boat builder represented since its founding in 1990 and the first decade of the new millennium, that for cruisers and yachts with sport-fishing practical details integrated into the design.  It is possible the old range will return in a not so distant future since Cayman new course is advising for S and F ranges and will build boats from 45 to 92 feet. Still at this stage it is fair to not take nothing away from the S450 which offers nice looking exterior looks and is designed from top to bottom by Paolo Prosperi son of Cayman founder Luigi.  Paolo was always part of the Cayman project, mostly as naval architect and taking care of the technical details, with exterior design duties of the previous models trusted to Nuvolari Lenard.  The Cayman S450 will be powered by twin Volvo 370hp with IPS pod drives, which will give top speeds up to 32 knots.  Accommodation will offer two double cabins plus two heads.
