Azimut Leads US Market with 27% Growth

Azimut Yachts reports excellent results in the United States for the second quarter 2021 (April-June 2021), with 25 new units delivered in the 14-35 metre range, up 27% on the same period last year. With these numbers Azimut Yachts, distributed across the US by the brand’s historic dealer MarineMax, confirms its position as the leading foreign shipyard in its segment on the US market. “Americans love Azimut yachts more than ever,” said Azimut-Benetti Americas President Federico Ferrante. “In recent months in particular, we have seen steadily increasing interest in all the products in the range, from the super sporty Verve models to our largest yachts, including the new Trideck flagship. The notoriously knowledgeable and demanding American public is particularly appreciative of our proven capacity for product innovation, of the fact that we offer technologically advanced models with a rich array of highly intelligent design solutions. As well as recognising the great reliability of our after-sales service.” The success of Azimut Yachts products on the US market, where dealer MarineMax operates process by teamwork with the company, is backed up by the numbers: in the brand’s leading market, Azimut Yachts reported 27% growth in the quarter from April to June 2021, with the delivery of 25 new units totalling 1,550 feet in length (472.4 metres). This result represents a 27% rise on the same period the previous year. The average length of yachts has also increased and now stands at 63 feet (about 19 metres), up 15% on last year. The two most popular Collections are the top of the range Grande Collection, which with deliveries up 75% confirms the growing interest in larger models, also highlighted by the US debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October of the new Trideck, and the Verve Collection, which has reported spectacular results with the Verve 47, a product developed specifically for the US market that has sold a remarkable 45 units in just a year and a half since the launch. The popularity of this model has exceeded all expectations and prompted the shipyard to create a smaller version, the Verve 42, which will be unveiled in world preview in Fort Lauderdale, but retail contracts have already been signed for 10 units.

They released two blue marlin and one white marlin for the win and brought home $207,187.50 in prize earnings. Lights Out released one white marlin and one blue marlin, and Tarheel released one blue marlin as well. We love seeing our boats in action doing what they were built to do.

Benetti Double Win at Nautical Design Awards 2021

Benetti boasts a double success at the “Design and Innovation Awards”, a prestigious competition organized by the magazine Boat International: 107.6-meter Luminosity and 107-meter Lana each win an award, recognizing the leading role these Giga yachts play on the international stage. Luminosity earns the top spot on the podium in the “Outstanding Lifestyle Feature” category with its sleek, elegant Beach Club; Lana wins in the category “Outstanding Exterior Motor Yacht Design – 60m and above” for its bold and sporty exterior lines designed by Benetti. The Design and Innovation Awards, the coveted ceremony organized every year by the authoritative Boat International magazine to celebrate design and innovation in the world of yachting – considered the nautical equivalent to the Oscars, announced the winners of the 2021 edition on Wednesday, July 7th. The winners, chosen by a jury made up of designers and stylists also from sectors transversal to boating, are Luminosity, the largest hybrid yacht in the world at 107.6 meters in length, and Lana, a 107-meter diesel-electric Giga yacht. Giovanna Vitelli, Vice President of the Azimut|Benetti Group, said: “The esteem that Benetti has earned in the construction of yachts over 100 meters is now undisputed. Also in this segment, Owners, surveyors, captains and media from all over the world have recognized the high build quality of our brand and these awards confirmed, once again, our international leadership.” The Beach Club, one of the noblest and most sought after areas onboard all modern yachts, has earned Luminosity the “Outstanding Lifestyle Feature” award. The comfortable and welcoming area is equipped with a spa, gym, wellness center with sauna and turkish bath and a swimming pool that can be transformed into a dance floor. Thanks to two flap doors, even the enclosed portion offers a spectacular view of the sea. Luminosity can be defined in all respects as a yacht for the twenty-first century: technology, privacy and comfort, in addition to the exceptional Beach Club, are the key points of the yacht with over 800 square meters of 3-meter high windows that give the feeling of being suspended at sea, in absolute silence. The hybrid propulsion system with which Luminosity is equipped makes it the largest hybrid yacht in the world. An integrated 3 MWh battery pack allows all main systems to operate without the aid of generators for up to 12 hours, in total absence of noise and vibrations, even allowing travel within protected marine areas that are inaccessible to other motoryachts. The second award, the “Outstanding Exterior Motor Yacht Design – 60m and above”, was awarded to the Giga yacht Lana design, penned by the Benetti Exterior Design Team. Bold, unique, elegant and sporty, Lana highlights the shipyard’s ability to create cutting-edge gems of design. Her external lines conceal impressive volumes and the smooth and elongated surfaces in glass and metal project the ship towards the horizon, making the figure even more slender. Among the standout features of the yacht, the full-beam master cabin on the command deck is characterized by contemporary luxury design, embellished by two terraces with a breathtaking view of the sea. The plumb bow speaks of a decidedly modern style and the large swimming pool on the Sun Deck, an interesting proposal compared to what is normally seen on yachts of this size, balances well with the helipad on the lower deck, dividing the spaces in harmony.

Itama Palcoscenico A Dizzying Dance

Light, elegant dance steps on the generous foredeck of one of Itama’s iconic models, with the sea providing the backdrop for the amazing “Palcoscenico - A Dizzying Dance on Itama 75": an emotionally charged video created by Ferretti Group brand Itama, with the creative direction of Craq Design Studio, music by Valerio Pellegri and Alessandra Ferrari and in partnership with Massimo Carosi, artistic director of Danza Urbana, the International Festival of Dance in urban landscapes in Bologna, who has a wealth of expertise staging dance projects in unconventional settings.  A symbol of timeless Italian elegance, Itama transformed the generous teak foredeck of Itama 75 into an extraordinary 30-square-metre stage overlooking the water, which was used as the exciting set for a 4-minute video shot in the early morning light. This pioneering project in the field of dance and yachting makes use of an exceptionally large space for a boat of this size, exploiting the unusual gradients of the foredeck to create dance steps that reach out over the water, communicating a genuine sense of vertigo. The elegant, flowing movements of three dancers from the MM Dance Company directed by Michele Merola lead us through a choreography divided into three sections: a slower, more progressive introduction during which the protagonists take possession of the foredeck, the solos in which three dancers play individually with the spaces on board Itama 75 and, finally, a more dynamic composition created specifically to highlight the sense of freedom that typifies the yachts built by this shipyard with a “Mediterranean soul”.  The carefully researched costumes worn by the dance company were designed by Nuvia Valestri, inspired by the colours of Itama 75’s teak foredeck and the dawn sky. Paying tribute to the natural elements, they offer a masterful interpretation of the lightness of the morning breeze and the power of the waves breaking on the rocks.  Framed against an evocative and imposing backdrop of clouds and waves, the dance steps celebrate not only a well-known iconic model like Itama 75, but an entire range characterised by the perfect synthesis of power and elegance and an Italian design that has led to these magnificent boats being described as “designed by the sea”.

Nordhavn Expands with Russia Office

Pacific Asian Enterprises, Inc. is pleased to announce it has joined forces with Alciona Yachting LLC in Moscow, which will serve as its new agents in the Eastern Europe/Central Asian market. Alciona will operate as Nordhavn Russia servicing clients in Russia as well as other ex-USSR countries including Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Latvia.  Bolstered by success and commitment thanks to decades of experience, Alciona has established itself as a premier yacht management and brokerage house for clients in the Eastern European and Central Asian region. With the addition of Nordhavn to its dealership portfolio, Alciona further broadens its representation which also includes Nimbus, Greenline, Dynamiq, and Discovery Yachts.  “We are very excited to join the Nordhavn family and represent such a prominent builder,” said Nikita Gorchakov, founder of Alciona Yachting, who will also serve as brand ambassador for Nordhavn Russia.  With growing interest in expedition-style yachts amongst boaters in CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) nations, PAE wanted to improve the scope of its reach to this sector of clientele. Daniil Slugevich represented a Russian client wanting to build a new Nordhavn 68 last year.  "Working with Nikita the past year on the sale of N6843 has been a very positive experience,” said PAE President Dan Streech. “We have great confidence that the Alciona group will open doors into a new rich market for Nordhavn Yachts.”  Gorchakov and Slugevich aim to help the Nordhavn name gain traction in what has traditionally been an untapped market for the brand by making sales and marketing materials more accessible. Their first course of action will be translating portions of the Nordhavn website into Russian and providing Russian-language captions to corporate videos.  While Alciona will act with a specific regional focus as Nordhavn Russia, the company has a global reach with a second office in London that manages European deals. Alciona’s multi-lingual agents will also help Nordhavn’s other offices with language barriers that might exist with international clients.

The company appointed Ali Tanir as Head of International Sales, while Ugur Sahin is a new addition and he will work as Domestic Sales Manager. I’d like to wish Ali and Ugur all the best in their new positions.” Since 2012 Ali Tanir, yachting veteran with more than 17 years of experience in international operations, has been working for Numarine as Communications Manager, Brand Manager and then Sales and Marketing Manager. Riva Destination at Dani Maison Ischia

A new pearl joins the collection of Riva Destinations in the Mediterranean: on the island of Ischia, set in the beautiful Bay of Naples, a new Riva Privée opens its doors at award-winning chef Nino Di Costanzo’s Daní Maison Restaurant.  Set in the exotic atmosphere of a garden scattered with unique artworks and the typical symbols of the local culture, this Riva Privée is a dreamy destination. Yachting tradition at its most authentic, meticulous attention to detail, and the timeless elegance of Riva style are the perfect fit for the culinary excellence and peerless hospitality of Daní Maison, the time-honoured Ischian family home of Chef Di Costanzo transformed into a place to meet and socialise characterised by the welcoming spirit for which the Naples area is famous.  In keeping with the guiding philosophy of “Riva inside, inside Riva”, this unique location replicates the Riva Destination formula that has already been a great success in top yachting destinations (including Venice, Opatija, Monaco, Formentera and Porto Cervo), extending the values and appeal of the Riva legend beyond yachting to famous hotels, restaurants and clubs that can be reached on board a yacht. The aim is to bring the excellence of Riva to owners, yachting enthusiasts and travellers in search of elite destinations.  An outstanding feature of the Ischia Riva Privée at Daní Maison Restaurant is the culinary excellence of the menu prepared by Chef Nino Di Costanzo (two Michelin Stars). Every detail is carefully curated to build a sophisticated sensory journey that taps into special memories and emotions aroused by colours, flavours, woods and tailormade service.  After gaining experience working with some of the great master chefs and numerous assignments in France, Canada, the United States, Belgium, the UK, Spain and Switzerland, Chef Nino Di Costanzo returns to his native Ischia to realise his vision, in which every dish reveals its essence of a cuisine made with passion, love, research, study, experimentation and respect for the raw materials used.  For guests of the Riva Privée at Daní Maison, the Chef has prepared a special menu inspired by Riva: pairings of products from the sea and the land that showcase each individual ingredient in such a way as to make them immediately recognisable, notwithstanding the complexity of the recipe as a whole, stimulating the most refined palates and delighting simpler ones, all with the help of sophisticated wines and champagnes.  In the Riva Privée on Ischia, like the other destinations, the furnishings immediately transport guests into the magic of the Riva myth, blending with the fragrances and flavours of the garden personally designed by chef Nino Di Costanzo. Unique detailing like the chrome, steel and lacquered mahogany, or the aquamarine cushions, conjure up at first glance the iconic yachts of an unforgettable golden age. The Aquarama chairs and tables have the same features typically found on the boats. The cushion and backrest of the chairs are in the same Mambo fabric used for the external cushions on the boats, while the table tops, with the central Riva logo inlaid in satin-finish steel, feature the characteristic striped motif of the boats’ decks. All set among original works by artist Lello Esposito and lush fern, helichrysum, aloe and prickly pear plants, scented with rosemary, nepeta and oregano, making for an immersive and memorable experience.  Research and innovation, as well respect for tradition, attention to detail, craftsmanship and excellence, are the unifying theme of yet another winning partnership, this time between international yachting legend Riva and Daní Maison, the ne plus ultra of hospitality on the island of Ischia.  Recent Riva Destination openings worldwide include: the Riva Lounge at the Waterfront Costa Smeralda in chic Porto Cervo; the Riva Lounge and Privée at the Ikador Luxury Boutique Hotel and Spa in Opatija (Croatia), the famous tourist resort that has won over the international jet set with its beautiful landscapes and crystal clear water; the Riva Privée at the Molo47restaurant on Formentera, the most glamorous of the Balearic Islands; the Riva Privée at Splash, Port Van Gogh, Paris, which offers guests the opportunity to discover unbelievably beautiful views of the French capital from the river on board an Aquariva Super; the magnificent Riva Lounge on the terrace of The Gritti Palace in Venice, famed for its magical atmosphere and breathtaking views out over the Canal Grande and of Santa Maria della Salute Cathedral. Other dream locations are the Riva Lounges at the historic Riva di Sarnico Shipyard and on the fourth floor of the Monaco Yacht Club, or the Riva Privée at Garage Italia in Milan, inspired by the Riva Aquarama motorboat.

Riva Wins Best New Series

It is with extreme pleasure that Officina Italiana Design, the Bergamo-based studio which has designed all of Riva’s yachts for over 26 years, announces that the new 88’ Folgore has won the prestigious Best New Series Award at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards. The Riva model was chosen for the plaudit from a selection of six finalists by a highly respected jury that met online on the Boat International digital platform.  “We are so incredibly proud of this award. We are delighted that Folgore was selected as Best New Series. This 88’ has been very warmly received by the international market despite the huge difficulties caused by the pandemic. It has been embraced as a safe, stylish island for people that like to stand out from the crowd,” declared Mauro Micheli, Chief Designer Officina Italiana Design. “I believe that both the public and the Boat International jury particularly appreciated the fact that although it is sporty coupé, it has the kind of balanced lines that we at OID like to craft with an emphasis on clean, characterful design. It also has spaces optimised to allow its occupants live the sea in exceptional comfort. The 88’ Folgore marks the start of a successful new direction for us, and this award is a reward for our hard work”.  Launched in May 2020, the 26.9m Riva sport yacht ushers in significant new additions in terms of both external and interior design. Dimensions-wise, it is the heir to the 88’ Domino, one of the yard’s best-sellers, and has both styling and graphic flourishes as its focal point. The result is that it slots neatly into Riva tradition and does not sully the brand’s signature iconic lines. Arriving in the wake of the Dolceriva, the 2019 model that opened the way stylistically for a new Riva era, Folgore not only introduces new styling cues but also brings something extra to the mix too.  Like the Dolceriva, the Riva 88’ Folgore has two simple lines running along its profile, very much reflecting Officina Italiana Design’s clean, rigorous styling philosophy. Certain aesthetic features help make this boat unique, not least the slight reverse-angle of its windshield and the striking design of its hull windows which run like a deft upward black pencil stroke along its silvery flank.

Sanlorenzo Wins at Boat International Innovation and Design Awards

Sanlorenzo and the Rome-based design studio led by Bernardo and Martina Zuccon wins the prestigious Boat International Design and Innovation Award 2021 for the exterior design of the Sanlorenzo SX112 in the Outstanding Exterior Motor Yacht Design – 24 to 39.9 m category. Another success for Zuccon International Project, winner of the 2021 Boat International & Innovation Awards – in the Outstanding Exterior Motor Yacht Design – 24 to 39.9 m category – for its design of the extraordinary exterior lines of the SX112 from Sanlorenzo. Acknowledged as one of the most prestigious prizes in the yachting world, the Boat International Design and Innovation Awards recognise not only naval architecture and style, but also the aspects of a boat’s design and technology that represent innovation, engineering, and sustainability among the changing needs of today’s owners. Judges felt SX112 creates an entirely new boating: “In this very competitive category, the SX112 stood out for the skilful use of space and glass surfaces […] for the unusual layout and stylistic features that emphasize the connection with the environment such as the large beach club with multiple openings”. “I am highly honoured to have received such a prestigious award together with Sanlorenzo, with which the Studio has a close and profitable partnership,” said Bernardo Zuccon. “SX112 is a great example of organic, extremely fluid architecture for a yacht inspired by the world of large marine mammals. It is a boat designed to experience the sea directly, limiting the barriers that separate man from nature. We wanted to open up the yacht to the sea through a simple and direct reworking of the spaces. In more detail, the stern area at the heart of the project has been designed as a spacious beach house where interiors and exteriors flow harmoniously into each other, giving the owner the chance to experience the spaces on board in a completely new way.” The iconic beach house designed by Studio International Project was also one of the finalists in the Lifestyle Feature category of the Boat International and Innovation Awards 2021, together with the master suite project for the Sanlorenzo H1 ALLOY.

New Model: Cruisers 38 GLS I/O

Many North American boat builders have embraced the new generation of outboards, but Cruisers seem to stand out from this, offering its 2019 launched 38 GLS with I/O stern drive option.  The original outboard 38 GLS was launched in 2019, and is an interesting offer in its size especially for owners wanting the maximum of deck space from fore to aft, but also want a decent cabin space sleeping four persons.  It is here the Cruisers 38 GLS shines in its cabin without reducing or losing any deck space.  The 38 GLS as popular today also features an opening balcony to starboard which increases the beam of the aft area by about one meter.  The Cruisers 38 GLS I/O is powered by twin Mercury 380hp gas petrol engines couple to dual propeller stern drive propulsion.  Max speed is reported at a forty max, which is about three knots less to the triple Mercury 300hp of the Outboard version.  With the inboard version the Cruiser 38 GLS I/O gains an extended hydraulic up down moving bathing platform aft.

Project: Sabre 43 Salon Express

The Sabre 43 Express Saloon is a blank-sheet design that remains true to her Down East lobster boat heritage without stinting on modernization and innovation. She boasts a sleek new mast design, expansive fixed-glazed windows, and sloping deck rails, all of which contribute to her striking nouveau-vintage silhouette. Owners will appreciate her contemporary Down East proportions, with sweeping lines and fresh angles contained in a traditional cruiser that, nevertheless, remains recognizably a Sabre.  Beneath her classic appearance, owners will discover the technology and features of a much larger yacht. The new 43 Salon Express will be the first full-network Sabre below 58-feet. As a result, owners can not only check critical functions and control any circuit on the boat from either the helm MFDs or iPad mini but also control the “mode of operation” or “scene” setting the lighting and circuit configuration of the boat with the simple touch of a button. Remote access to these components, as well as GPS monitoring, geofencing, trip logging, and NMEA 2000-based alarms, are available via cell phone through the included Sentinel Telematics feature.  Highlights in the 43 Saloon Express include a spacious salon with two banks of seating over six feet in length and a half-up galley that incorporates all the amenities of a modern kitchen without wasting an inch of precious storage volume. Below deck, a versatile hybrid lounge functions as guest berth, private retreat, or home office, depending on her owners’ needs. The master stateroom features an island berth and numerous storage compartments, all in warm American cherry. Finally, an adaptable utility room beneath the salon sole provides space for various supplemental storage and appliance solutions, including a side-by-side washer and dryer, wine cooler, or storage lockers.  The Sabre 43 Salon Express will be standard powered by twin Volvo 380hp, with optional 440hp and 480hp available.

New Model: Maritimo S55

Leading Australian luxury motor yacht manufacturer Maritimo, has unveiled the brand new S55 Sedan Motor Yacht at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. The new S55 is the latest addition to the esteemed sedan motor yacht series, renowned for long range adventuring, offshore cruising, and ocean tested stability and performance, features which form the foundation of Maritimo’s building ethos. Maritimo S55 has been designed to meet the lifestyle expectations for sport yacht enthusiasts seeking space, comfort, and luxury with a focal emphasis on long range offshore cruising and adventuring. Plans of the highly anticipated new model were revealed late in 2020, and has since seen the S55 Sedan already capture the attention of current Maritimo owners, and other boaters from around the globe, with orders placed prior to the official debut more than any Maritimo S-Series predecessor.  The new S55 hull is an advanced evolution of Maritimo’s longstanding experience in long range cruising design, with a variable deadrise hull with deep keel, sharp bow entry and flattened progression aft focusing on offshore cruising performance, comfort and stability. The foundations of the new S55’s hull design and engineering is focused on direct shaft drive technology. Maritimo has continually developed hull and engineering design specifically for shaft technology. This focus and dedication to the development of shaft driven technology has positioned Maritimo as world leaders in shaft driven performance and long range cruising design. The direct shaft drives will be powered by standard twin Volvo 670hp, with options taking power from Volvo, Scania or CAT up to 1000hp. The displayed S55-01 featured optional Volvo Penta 800hp, reaching top speeds up to thirty knots. The S55 also shines in its long-range capabilities with the 4550 litres fuel capacity and highly efficient performance enabling a range up to 488 nautical miles at a cruise of twenty knots. The Maritimo S-Series sedan motor yacht has long been renowned for catering to a practical single level boating lifestyle, and the S55 has encompassed the successful idea of a practical deck space with its new adventure deck lower cockpit design. The adventure deck creates an incredible water-sports with practical proximity to the water. It incorporates the option to be opened with electric actuators to unveil a fully lined tender garage with 250kg davit for owners looking to conceal tenders away from the rear platform. The adventure deck lower cockpit can also be integrated with an optional extended platform to create a mammoth deck space with endless practical applications. One step up from the lower cockpit, is the upper cockpit alfresco deck space, with easy access to deep walkthrough side decks. The upper cockpit is fully sheltered by the extended hardtop headliner, providing complete cover for the alfresco area. Adding further cover is the option for roll down breezeway or clears which provide complete 360 degree protection for the deck space. The design also conveniently conceals the clears with moulded headliner recesses when stored. The amount of floor space offered in the upper cockpit alfresco deck leads the market in the mid 50 foot category, with standard rear U-shape lounging and dining table and further option of opposing lounging flanking each side of the area. Maritimo is renowned for breaking the status quo, and the S55 is no exception. The expanded cockpit hardtop coverage has amplified the amount of area above, on the often-inaccessible sedan hardtop.

Fairline Sport Cruiser Sinking in Poole

A Fairline Targa sport cruiser named Hayley with a couple onboard was recued in Poole, Sandbanks in the South of England while it started to take on water and sinking on the 21st July.  The circumstances of the accident are yet unknown, but rumours are calling for a stern drive failure.  The couple where rescued by the British RNLI coast guard, who after recusing the two persons and taking them to safety at the nearby Parkstone Yacht Club, cleared the sport cruiser from eventual pollution.  This same Fairline Targa apparently also hit the Weymouth Town Bridge in 2020 with a video showing the accident going viral on social media.
The Targa 40 is a popular sport cruiser model from Fairline produced from 2000 till 2007 in 299 units, which makes it the second most sold Targa model.  Designed as all Fairline's from the eighties till 2012 by Bernard Olesinski she was at the time of lunch one of the few sport cruisers to have a tender garage layout in a twelve meter size. The Targa 40 offered an interior with two double cabins, and convertible dinette and galley.  Power came from twin Volvo 260hp year 2000, with engines which became bigger as Volvo offered more powerful diesel stern drives.  Largest engine choice was for the 2006 and 07 offered twin 370hp taking speeds at about forty knots.  The Targa 40 was based on the hull of the 1993 launched Targa 38/39, and was replaced with the 2006 launched Targa 38 which also used the same hull.

New Model: Riva 76 Perseo Super

The most loved sport-fly is now even more desirable, with the improvement coming with the new Riva 76 Perseo Super, heir to and evolution of the award-winning 2015 launched 76 Perseo, which exceeds  expectations in terms of design, aesthetics, functionality, on-board liveability and performance.  The 76 Perseo Super was launched on Thursday May 27 in La Spezia, where the Riva models from 22 to 40 meters production facility is located.  With an overall length of just over 23, the new Riva sport-fly is the result of collaboration of the Product Strategy Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari, designer Mauro Micheli, the founder of Officina Italiana Design with Sergio Beretta, and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.  Over forty square metres of glazed surfaces on the hull and in the superstructure characterise the yacht’s sleek profile and enhance the sporty look of the exterior styling. The mahogany and polished stainless steel detailing, which has both technical and design functions, pays stylistic tribute to the authentic Riva tradition.  In the cockpit, designed for maximum conviviality, the dining area can easily become a spacious sun pad when needed, by lowering the table for eight and covering it with cushions.  Perfectly integrated into the yacht’s aerodynamic lines, the sun deck offers a place both to relax in total privacy and to pilot the boat from a privileged position, with a generous central sun pad of about four square metres, while forward, the central section of the second helm station is flanked by sofas on both the port and starboard sides. The refined combination of sand-coloured oak and light or dark lacquer is a distinctive feature of the entire main deck, as well as of the yacht’s interiors as a whole. The owner can also opt for rosewood as an alternative.  In the standard layout, Riva 76 Perseo Super accommodates guests on the lower deck in three cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms, but the owner can also request a fourth cabin, configured as always to ensure optimum comfort and liveability. Completing the lower deck are a small lounge and a separate galley.  The entire area is designed to ensure the best possible acoustic insulation, with supplementary soundproofing in all the forward and aft walls of the owner’s suite.  Already sold out for 2021 and available production entering well into 2022, Riva 76 Perseo Super will be officially presented at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival.

Azimut Magellano Ends Aground in Pwhelli

A sixteen meter Azimut Magellano explorer yacht ended aground just outside of Pwhelli Marina in North Wales, to the west of Great Britain.  This accident happened early morning July 21, and salvage operations where being prepared to be done on the evening of the same day, when a higher tide was planned to arrive.  Reports say two persons where onboard and no one suffered injuries.  Apparently this breakwater reef is difficult to visually spot when there is a medium tide, as it becomes submerged, and lays in position to starboard of the exit channel from Pwhelli Marina.
The Azimut Magellano in this accident is a 53 model, designed by Cor D.Rover for exterior and interior.  The Magellano 53 offers three cabins, plus a crew cabin aft, and a choice to have a fourth or second crew cabin in replacement of the utility room to starboard.  The Azimut Magellano 53 was released in the fall of 2013 and came as a further development of the replaced 2010 launched successful 50 Magellano.  The Magellano range was presented by Azimut in 2009 with the 74 model, the 50 being the second model of the line-up.  The Magellano range come from a thorough Azimut investment in research and design to enter the Explorer Yacht market and to minimize the hump characterizing both planning and semi-displacement hulls in that ten to fifteen knots range.  As of 2021 the Magellano 53 is still in production, and today the range has five models from the entry level 43, to the upcoming 30 Metri.

Project: Azimut 68 Flybridge

Back to 68!  When Azimut launched the 68 Plus in the Genoa boat show of 1999 it re-invented the twenty meter flybridge motor yacht segment, and showed how an operator yacht can exist in this size.  Some nine years later and the stopping of production the Azimut 68 Plus and its Evolution 2005 update will sell a record one hundred fifty plus of units.  So when Azimut comes in 2021 with the project for a 68 Flybridge model, we are interested for what's going to come.  Designed as all the latest Azimut Flybridge and S models by Alberto Mancini, she is in fact the third Flybridge Collection from the designer following the 78 in 2019 and the 53 launched this year, the coming 68 will feature a four double cabins layout, with a crew cabin aft sleeping two.  The difference in the 68 Flybridge will also be choice on the main deck, as unlike previous Azimut's or other main stream production yachts of this size she is available in three layouts all revolving around the galley, enclosed or open in the middle of the saloon, or astern galley.  The 68 follows Azimut use for IPS pod drives, as the two previous 78 and 53 models, and will be powered by twin Volvo 1000hp for a max speed up to 32 knots.

Overmarine Mangusta Super Yacht Aground in Venice

A 46 meter Overmarine Mangusta super yacht titled Q95 ended on a sand bank in the entrance of the Venice canal on the seventeen July.  The accident happened at the entrance of the canal between Lido and the Sant Elena marina.  The yacht captain managed to free up the Mangusta super yacht with out assistance, but following the grounding he was followed by the Venice coast guard to the Lido of Sette Metri destination.  No injuries happened and the super yacht is reported to have sustained no particular damage.
M/y Q95 is a 2018 Overmarine Mangusta Oceano 46.  Presented in 2018 to an exterior design of Stefano Righini the Ocean 46 is a triple deck super yacht with a bulb bow full displacement hull shape, with accommodation for twelve guests in five cabins, and nine crew in five cabins.  Powered by twin MTU 2450hp engines she has a top speed up to sixteen knots, a cruise of eleven, and a range up to four thousand nautical miles.

Project: Overmarine Mangusta 165 Rev

Overmarine present the project for the new revolutionary Mangusta 165 Rev.  The fifty metre flagship of the new Maxi Open Rev series, is a celebration of design and functionality, comfort and great performances, is now ready to cruise the seas leaving behind her unmistakable wake.  This is a project developed jointly by Overmarine's Engineering Department in collaboration with renowned designer Igor Lobanov, who designed the Mangusta 104 Rev which launched this 2021 year, and take over from Stefano Righini who designed the Open series up and before these two new models.  The 165 Rev stands out for her aggressive profile featuring rounded, curved shapes typical of Mangusta's iconic style. Her slender, dynamic lines draw inspiration, as the designer explains from 1930s sporty cars. This means classic, timeless beauty, which, however, on this model, goes hand in hand with dramatically scaled-up performances and a refreshed, renovated concept of lifestyle.  Key elements on the 165 Rev, just like on all Mangusta yachts, are the impressive onboard volumes, the comfort of en plein air areas, and the smooth, uninterrupted flow between the interiors and exteriors. On this fifty meter super sport yacht, the Owner can decide to experience life at sea in the utmost privacy or relax in one of the many convivial areas, enjoying his holiday surrounded by a different landscape every day and quickly moving from one destination to the next; for example, waking up in Portofino and sipping a cocktail in front of Costa Smeralda a few hours later.  One of the brand-new features on this yacht is the beach area: indeed, the aft door opens like the roof of a convertible sporty car, revealing a magnificent 36 square meters, fully-equipped lounge area on the sea. The side garage can fit a tender and two jet-skis, allowing guests to ride the waves whenever they feel like. On the sundeck is a large convivial space furnished with comfortable sofas and a bar located amidships, while the huge forward area offers the Owner and his guests a sunbathing area and an infinity pool, where they can indulge in pure relaxation. The interiors have been styled by Milan-based architecture firm M2 atelier using warm colour shades and implementing contemporary solutions aimed at making the most of natural light, which is the key element on this vessel. The floor-to-ceiling windows of the salon minimise the division between interiors and exteriors, and create a cosy, sophisticated atmosphere. The wonderful side foldable terraces, flawlessly integrated in the yacht profile, open up on breath taking views. In this way, the day area is flooded by the sun and surrounded by the sea, offering a unique immersive experience. The main salon features a pleasant sofa lounge set and a large dining area, which also includes a bright bar counter illuminated by three skylights that let through plenty of natural light. Also on the main deck is the airy master stateroom; a real open-space loft on two levels having as its core element the elongated side windows and ensuring maximum privacy to the Owner, who has also available a lounge area and an exclusive personal office. From there, access is gained to the night area with full-beam bathroom.  The lower deck has been entirely used for guest accommodation, and can be customised to offer a range of solutions with up to five cabins; four guest cabins plus a VIP suite or 4 cabins plus a media and lounge area or a gym.  Such impressive layout flexibility is matched by outstanding performance versatility, thanks to a propulsion system with four MTU 2600hp engines and with Kamewa waterjets propulsion, which push the yacht to an exhilarating maximum speed of 34 knots while limiting consumption. Veem gyro stabilizers ensure smooth, comfortable cruising event at low speeds and in all sea conditions, taking the vessel's range up to 650 miles.

Flybridge Cruiser on Fire Near Elba Island

A fourteen meter Raffaelli motor cruiser with three guests onboard went on fire some nine miles from Isola Elba and nineteen miles from Pianosa island on the morning of Friday 16 July at around 0700 hours.  As reported the Raffaelli flybridge cruiser which had departed from Scarlino yacht harbor in the early hours of the morning, had the fire start out from the engine room.  A VHF call was made to the coast guard, with the Porto Ferrario, Isola Elba section responding immediately to the call and saving the three passengers, who in the mean time led themselves to safety onboard the tender. A fire fighting squad was deployed to save the Raffaelli flybridge cruiser, unfortunately with no success, which dominated by the fire ended in sinking.
The flybridge motor cruiser in the fire is a Raffaelli Storm S,  a 14.50 meter flybridge cruiser presented in 1990 and produced till 1996.  The Storm S was an evolution of the Storm model launched in 1986, adding fifty centimetres in length and with this expanding the main cabin for more space in the saloon and aft deck, and now featuring a sloop stern.  The Storm S was a popular flybridge cruiser for the most part in the Italian market and a discreet success also coming in France, thanks to its three cabins layout and its seakeeping qualities, this being a Raffaelli trade mark.  The Raffaelli Storm S was powered with Cat engines; 380hp at first and newer units having the 440hp engines.  Top speed was 28 with the lower powered engines and 31 with the 440 units.  The Storm and Storm S sold over sixty units in a ten year production run, and are still popular used boats and a common sight in most Italian marinas.  Raffaelli has always been famous for producing honest boats with seakeeping and strong construction qualities, and till the entering of the CE rules in 1998 built its boats to A1 Class Nippon design standards, something rare in sub 24 meter plus yachts in that time.

New Model: Otam 70 HT

Otam confirms once again its strong identity and its aim of building yachts characterized by extreme customizations and excellent performance and reliability, making craftmanship the distinctive feature of the Italian shipyard. Proof of this is the newly launched Otam 70HT that will make its World debut at 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival in beginning September.  With one-off design by BG Design Firm, as well as bespoke engineering and hull lines by Umberto Tagliavini Marine Design, the new OTAM 70HT is the epitome of the dynamic performance and timeless style that has made the iconic Italian brand instantly recognizable around the world.  Strong attention has been paid to details and stylistic features typical of the Otam brand such as the low centre of gravity, the large air intakes on the sides of the sundeck in the bow, as well as on the hard top. All air intakes convey into the spacious engine room, as in every Otam yacht. The exhaust vents are cleverly integrated into glossy black grilles in the aft bulwarks either side of the swim platform and can be accented with strip LED lighting, to become another design element themselves.  As with all Otam products, customization is a trademark and a clear corporate choice. With an overall length of just over 22 meters, and 21 degrees of deadrise, the 70HT offers an unmatched seaworthiness, unrivalled space and great comfort for a fast luxury cruiser of her size with extraordinary efficiency.  The owner of the first Otam 70HT chose a cockpit and salon with sofa seating along the portside for hosting large groups. Another cool design feature is the up-and-down electric glass screen separating the interior lounge and exterior cockpit, specifically requested by the owner. The glazing completely retracts between the two C-shaped sofas and, when lowered, opens up the interior and cockpit to provide a single en plein air space so owner and guests can interact whether they are inside or outside. The new Otam 70HT offers a comfy sunbed on top of the transom tender garage together with a second generous volume sun bed on the foredeck, integrated in the center bow muscle.  The first unit as chosen by the owned did not  feature a tender garage in order to maximize the beach area.  A key feature of the interiors is the futuristic dashboard, also designed by BG Design. It’s inspired by the aeronautical and automotive world and the design resembles the console of a jet fighter.  There are different options also available on the accommodation deck: Otam does not impose any solution but it designs the interiors together with the customer, always delivering an exclusive final product.  This first hull has a three cabins layout with an owner’s suite, two guests, separate galley and a crew cabin for two in the bow with independent access for a total privacy. Clients are free to choose their own layout and interior solutions, limitless customization is Otam calling card, synonymous with luxury craftsmanship in the world.  The first unit is powered by twin 2000hp MTU engines coupled to Arneson drives and custom Otam-Rolla propellers.  The shipyard also offers a most powerful version with 2400hp CAT, reaching a top speed of 53 knots which, combined with the hull designed by Marine Design by Scorzoni Tagliavini and Moltedo, ensures an unparalleled efficiency.  Seakeeper gyro stabilizers can be fitted for best comfort both under way and at anchor.
