Maritimo Racing to Debut New R30

After a harrowing, high speed accident in the season opening race of the 2018 Union International Motonautique XCAT world championship in Fujairah, UAE. Maritimo Racing is focused on a 2019 world championship revival and is well advanced in the development of a new R30 XCAT.  The April crash saw Maritimo's Ross Willaton knocked unconscious on impact, having to be rescued by the Bergamore Scuba Angels after spending several minutes submerged in the cockpit.  He subsequently spent five days in ICU being treated for fluid on the lungs. Whilst Tom Barry-Cotter escaped with minor internal bruising.  Maritimo said the impact virtually destroyed the boat, which will be later converted into a racing experience project.  The team is now well advanced on a new Maritimo R30 which is being closely guarded at the company's Gold Coast manufacturing plant.  The new Maritimo R30 has been designed by Tom Barry-Cotter and Maritimo's in-house design and engineering department.  Details of the new design are being kept confidential, but construction is underway in Maritimo Racing's Research and Development Department, and Barry-Cotter said the new design incorporated significant emphasis on the aerodynamic characteristics of the hull and deck.  "We are looking to maximize lift at the slower speed range, crucial for quick getaways at start chute speeds which has not be an area of strength for us in the past," he said.  "We recognise that our starts have been our weakness and many times we have qualified in the top two and had our position wasted because of our under performing acceleration away from the start."  "Our aim is to find another two or three seconds from where we currently are and improve the low range acceleration so we are in a position to better capitalize on our qualifying position," he said.  The Mercury Racing XCAT 400 ROS Powered R30 will be constructed of carbon fibre and E-glass composites using latest resin infusion practices.  "The boat is being constructed in a way that will maximise hull/deck strength and integrity which is imperative given the fierce nature of the XCAT World Championship which often results in boats sustaining damage at some stage throughout the season," he said.  "The boat's systems will be completely modular and contained in waterproof containers within the hull in order to reduce the time required to have the boat running in the scenario of being submerged.  "The R30 is designed to the latest UIM safety specifications and our desire is for our monocoque design to be the case study of structural integrity and protecting our drivers from impacts and inundation."  He said the design and construction of the new R30 was a unique scenario with both the driver and designer being one.  Maritimo is the only Australian motoryacht manufacturer to have its own race team and experiences on the international circuit are fed back into the design and construction of all the models in its range.  "The competitive culture of racing is inherent in everything we do and we are constantly striving to improve and refine our product offering using the data and feedback we receive first hand on the race circuit," he said.

Maritimo Muster in British Columbia

Boasting some of the most picturesque inland protected waterways on earth the USA's Pacific Northwest and West Coast of Canada is about to be the scene of a major marine event with direct links Down Under.  Maritimo Americas, Compass Point Yacht Sales and Silver Seas Yacht Sales are staging a boat owners' rendezvous called the Maritimo Muster at the Port Sidney Marina on Victoria Island, British Columbia in coming weeks with owners of the Australian made vessels set to be treated to three days of fun, good times and education.  The Muster will kick off on Thursday August 30 and run through until the following Sunday and at this stage there are seventeen Maritimo's registered to attend with about 50 people taking part.  Compass Point Yacht Sales, Bill and Michelle King, are co-ordinating the event.  "This is a destination event which means we have owners coming from Canada B.C and from the West Coast of Washington State and California USA," said Michelle King.  "We have timed the Maritimo Muster to be at the end of our boating season because many Maritimo's have been cruising the beautiful waters of the San Juan Islands off Washington State, or continuing up to the Gulf Islands of Canada in recent months.  Maritimo Americas President Dave Northrop said the Australian built vessels were perfectly suited for extended Northwest cruising with the enclosed, climate controlled fly bridges, state of the art engineering, exemplary sea keeping ability, reliability and economic running.  "The long range cruising capability of Maritimo motor yachts enables owners to use their vessels to their full potential in some of the most stunning protected waterways and landscapes on earth."  The Port Sidney event will start on the Thursday with an initial registration and meet and greet event. On Friday there will be a full day of owners' seminars and presentations including a presentation by Maritimo’s lead designer Tom Barry-Cotter, on the exciting design projects currently in development at the Australian manufacturing facility.  After lunch there will be a presentation from Quick, featuring their new stabilization gyro, Yacht-Controller and Garmin Electronics. On Saturday the program will see a continuation of the hands-on training seminars with presentations again from Garmin, Yacht-Controller and Quick with representatives spending time with owners educating them and answering questions about handling their vessels.  At the end of the day the participants will be transported by bus to the magnificent Butchart Gardens, celebrating more than 100 years of beauty. A gourmet picnic basket dinner while lounging on Maritimo picnic blankets listening to live jazz and watching the last fireworks show of the year will make for a magical evening.  "On Sunday morning we will have a fully catered breakfast for our Maritimo owners and their guests before bidding them farewell at various times during the day," said Michelle King.  "The Port Sidney Muster is about education, socialising, camaraderie and making sure our owners get the most out of the vessels and the boating lifestyle that exists in this part of the world."  Barry-Cotter said Compass Point Yacht Sales, Silver Seas Yacht Sales and Maritimo Americas, were important partners with Maritimo in promoting the brand through the Americas and Canada.

Sunseeker Launches Project Menorca

Sunseeker is delighted to launch an exciting marine conservation program on the Balearic Island of Menorca with its long-term charity partner, The Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE).  With the future of healthy seas and oceans at risk, Britain’s biggest boat builder has set out to launch its first campaign titled ‘Project Menorca’ which will focus on the island’s marine environment.  Menorca was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1993 however, the island still faces increased pressure from unregulated fishing, tourism and pollution, while the current marine protection scheme is proving ineffective.  Working closely with Blue, a UK-based charity dedicated to creating marine reserves, the new partnership will establish a recognized model of conservation, supported by local partners on the island including the Menorca Preservation Fund.  Project Menorca will support local fisheries in creating a model of sustainable fishing, establish a network of ‘eco-moorings’ to preserve sea grass beds, protect marine reserves by removing plastics and ‘ghost’ fishing nets, distribute recyclable bags across the island and recruit on-water rangers for various marine monitoring programs. This challenge presents an ideal opportunity to make a tangible difference in protecting Menorca’s marine environment and Sunseeker aims to widen the programme worldwide.  Sunseeker will also be supporting Blue’s virtual Blue Marine Yacht Club (BMYC). Launched in 2012 by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, the BYMC was formed to unite the global yachting community in a clear mission to protect our oceans.  Sunseeker fully endorses the BMYC and offers three levels of membership with all revenue raised going directly to supporting BLUE’s work in Menorca. Dependent on the membership level, donors will be given the unique opportunity of having a guided tour of the Menorca project first-hand or at the highest level, naming rights to this or other projects.  BMYC has also developed its own eight-point ‘Charter’ which makes simple observations about how to reduce the impact of boating with very little effort whilst supporting biodiversity and hence its sustainability. The code of conduct, which is promoted by Sunseeker, includes information on topics such as reducing damage from anchoring and mooring, stopping marine pollution, the recognition of protected areas, as well as diving and snorkeling best practice.  Commenting on the launch of Project Menorca, CEO of Sunseeker International, Phil Popham said: “We are passionate about the marine environment worldwide. Our luxury yachts have been crafted so that Sunseeker owners can enjoy them to their fullest potential, wherever they may be. We strive to be global leaders in all that we do and it’s important to us that we also do our part to help protect one of our most valuable resources, so that we - and future generations - can all continue to enjoy our precious time on the water. Our partnership with BLUE provides this focus and will lead to other projects worldwide.  He continues: “We recognize that there has been a real awakening in the leisure marine industry to be even more responsible and we have been at the forefront of this by encouraging everyone to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our seas. By utilizing the generosity and very unique qualities of the entire leisure marine industry including yacht owners from all brands, our dealers, suppliers and employees, we will be able to help reverse this dramatic decline.”  Clare Brook, CEO of Blue Marine Foundation, added: “Sunseeker’s inspirational and generous support will enable BLUE to enhance existing marine protection and establish new marine reserves around Menorca. Menorca’s waters are home to rare grouper, sharks, dolphins, whales, octopus and lobster. Tuna migrate to the area to reproduce and coastal seagrass beds shelter juvenile fish. These marine meadows also trap 35x more carbon than terrestrial forests. We hope that, through this partnership, Sunseeker and its supporters – people who really love and understand the sea – will be able to enjoy its unspoiled beauty for centuries to come.”  With the launch of Project Menorca, Sunseeker is encouraging everyone to think about how they can help protect our most valuable resource.

Sunseeker with Simon Le Bon for Southampton

Sunseeker is delighted to announce that lead singer of iconic British band Duran Duran, Simon Le Bon, will be the special guest at this year’s 50th anniversary show starting on Friday September 14.  Simon, a long-serving ambassador of The Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE), will be officially opening the Sunseeker stand and BLUE exhibition space. Sunseeker will be showcasing its commitment to marine conservation at Southampton Boat Show with an immersive exhibition experience that will demonstrate the importance of protecting the marine environment for future generations.  The exhibition, which is located on the stand, will highlight the problems we currently face globally, with increased pressure from unregulated fishing, tourism and pollution.  Since 2017, Sunseeker has partnered with BLUE and has recently launched its first campaign titled ‘Project Menorca’, an exciting marine conservation programme that will focus on improving and protecting the island’s marine environment.  Simon, who will arrive at the show, on board a Sunseeker yacht, is extremely passionate about raising awareness of the damaging effects that overfishing and the destruction of biodiversity can have on the world’s oceans, and took part in the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1985. Since becoming an ambassador for BLUE, Simon has launched fundraising initiatives, including a charity bike ride from London to Monaco, spoken on behalf of the charity at several events and carried out interviews highlighting the work of the charity.  Simon commented: “The sea is a beautiful thing. We all grew up thinking it was perfect, pristine, and it would always stay that way. However, now we’re starting to see the reality of humanity’s impact on the world’s waters. It is a disaster unfolding before our eyes.  “If we want to preserve the living seas, we have a lot of work to do and it heartens me to see brands like Sunseeker working really hard to raise awareness and implement projects that will help us in our endeavour.”

Viking Extra Activities

President of St. Joseph's University Dr. Marc Reed along with Executive Director of Mission Programs Father Dan Joyce and Vice President for Development and Alumni Martin Farrell spent a picture-perfect day at the Viking Yacht Company in New Gretna, New Jersey. Long-time SJU alumni and supporters, the Viking family hosted the trio to a tour of the manufacturing plant and Viking's world-class yachts and then a bite in the storied Viking lunchroom.  Viking's President and CEO Patrick Healey, Executive Co-Chair of the Viking Group Robert Healey, Jr. and Viking CFO John Kasinski are all legacies of St. Joe's, while Patrick's daughter Kaitlyn began her freshman year as a Hawk earlier this week and John's daughter Lauren is currently working on her graduate degree. Shown above left to right: Father Dan Joyce, Robert Healey, Jr., Dr. Marc Reed, Patrick Healey, Martin Farrell, John Kasinski, Sean Healey and Justin Healey.

Viking at Mid Atlantic

Sportfishing's "Main Event" came to an exciting close for 157 of the East Coast's most elite teams. Justin Branning's Viking 55 3's Enough tied for 2nd Heaviest White Marlin with a fish tipping the scales at 73 pounds at The MidAtlantic. South Jersey Yacht Sale's George Robinson was fishing on light tackle and hooked up 10 minutes before lines out. He fought the fish for a solid hour before Captain Walt Ogden sprinted back to Cape May with it. The Branning family purchased the boat just two weeks prior to the MidAtlantic and with the excitement of prepping for their very first marlin tournament, they didn't have a chance to update the name on the transom. So the above picture isn't a mistake.  Michael Chase aboard Fred Pizinski's Viking 50 Contrail claimed both 2nd and 3rd Place Wahoo with his pair of 'hoos weighing in at 49 and 46 pounds. Torta, a Viking 66 owned by Joe Posillico, also weighed a 46-pound wahoo for a 3rd Place tie.

Viking at White Marlin Open

Auspicious, a Viking 80 Enclosed Bridge, was the first to bring a blue marlin to the scales at this week's White Marlin Open. As of the writing of this email, it remains on top of the board at 881 pounds and 128 inches, the sixth-largest blue marlin in the tournament's 45-year history. Angler Joe Rahman said it took 50 minutes to land the monster about 90 miles offshore. "The bite was huge. I've never seen anything like it," Joe said. Fishing concludes today for the fleet of 382 boats.

Viking at Canyon Club

"It was epic!" said International Sales Manager Anthony Scola after the Viking 68's recent overnight trip. That theme resounded amongst the crew that fished out of the Canyon Club in Cape May, New Jersey, pounding out an impressive 20-plus hours of trolling with a few night owls dropping lines in as well. Early on, Viking's Sean Healey hooked up with a monster blue marlin estimated at over 900 pounds. The beast continuously hit the right teaser until it was 15 feet from the boat. Then it dramatically aired out and took the pitch bait. Keith Monahan, Viking's Sales Manager, said, "The fish and the bite were absolutely spectacular." Captain Scott Adams ran Viking's demo boat about 85 miles out in flat calm, perfect weather where the team went five for seven on white marlin. Matt Schad from Valhalla Boat Sales said, "It was a great trip and a really great crew." Additional anglers were South Jersey Yacht Sales' Greg Robinson and Mike Fitzpatrick. Mates were Mike Mahon and Keith Greenburg.

Viking at Mid Atlantic 2018

This year's fleet is bursting at the seams with 157 boats in the hunt at sportfishing's "Main Event." For the first time ever in MidAtlantic history, zero boats fished Day 3 due to the nasty offshore forecast. That means it's going to be a wild ride until the scales close at 9pm tonight! Will the Viking 61 Southern C's stay on top with blue marlin points or how about the Viking 55 3's Enough 2nd Place White Marlin? Plenty of Vikings are in the mix and on the board so it's anyone's game. Stay tuned as we update you when the dust settles at the scales.

Viking at White Marlin Open

This year's White Marlin Open had a record $5.45-million purse and 382 of the world's elite fishing teams were battling for a piece of it. The blue marlin category was safely held all week when Joe Rahman, fishing on his Viking 80 Auspicious with Captain Cookie Murray, brought a monster to the scales weighing in at 881 pounds on Day 1. The fish was never challenged as it was the only qualifying blue weighed all week. Joe also claimed 2nd Place Angler for weighing in both a blue and white marlin as well as releasing three whites. Auspicious picked up 6th Place Boat with its two weighed marlin and six white releases. The New-England-based Blinky IV, a Viking 50, claimed 2nd Place Tuna with a 73.5-pounder weighed by angler Charles Matattal. Leo Cantillo, on the Viking 62 The Right Place, claimed the 4th Heaviest Wahoo of the event with a 47-pound fish. While lots of excitement takes place at the scales, with million-dollar fish in front of massive cheering crowds, there is plenty of intense behind-the-scenes action on the Atlantic among skilled teams taking advantage of exceptional marlin fishing grounds.  This year the Viking 72 (above) topped the competition with 10 white marlin and a blue, driving Captain Ryan Higgins and his team to both 1st Place Boat and 1st Place Release Boat. Viking 72 angler Eric McDowell claimed 6th Place Angler with one blue and three white marlin releases.  Art Kontos' Viking 68 Let It Ride was the 9th Place Release Boat and 10th Place Top Boat. The crew released six white marlin, three sailfish and a spearfish.

Following the launch of the Heron 56, and the project for a 56 Open the Italian Fiumicino based yacht builder presents another T-Top version designed by SC Superyacht Design. This new Heron will distinct itself for having a T-Top similar to what the original model offers but here the beams supporting the  hard top located further aft.  A T-Top is a good mix of having the advantage of hard top and yet not being fully enclosed.  As in the case of the Open, the Heron 56 T-Top will also have an updated exterior aft deck, which feels larger and features two L-shaped dinettes which when required can be merged together to become one big dinette. Project: Filippetti S55

Considering that in the last two decades Fausto Filippetti has concentrated most of his efforts in building flybridge super yachts above 24 meters, it is interesting to see him return back to his roots with the S55.  Why am I saying all this, because Fausto Filippetti was one of the three co-founders who back in 1985 founded the Pershing shipyard, who today is considered as one of the most important names in the fifteen to thirty meter sport yacht size nonetheless also the trend setter who has set the rules for others to follow since the nineties.  The Filippetti S55 looks a lot in the direction to Fausto previous creations and comes from a design of Davide Cipriani, and is a three cabin sport yacht inspired to very aggressive yet clean lines.  The interior will feature three double cabins including a full beam owners stateroom, VIP forward cabin, and a third twin bunk berths cabin to starboard.  A spacious L-shaped galley is located below, while the living including a C-shaped dinette, a wet bar and grill are all located on the main deck.   The Filippetti S55 which actually was born couple years back as an S53 concept is to be powered by three engine choices set ups starting from twin Volvo 725hp with IPS pod propulsion, and going up to twin Cats 1000hp and or 1200hp with sufrace drives propulsion.  The standard engine pod set up has estimated top speeds of 34 knots, while the more performance orientated surface drives will deliver 43 and 50 knots high speeds.

Alfamarine New Web Site

Alfamarine from Fiumicino the West sea side of the Italian capital city Rome presents its new World wide web showroom.  Alfamarine and Fazioli make a great part of the Italian story of pleasure boating from the mid seventies onward with some record breaking models in the making.  Alfamarine started its course in 1955 when Marcello Fazioli enters boat racing not only as a racer but also by building outboard powered speed boats for himself and on commission.  But the story of Alfamarine as a boat builder starts in 1975 when the yard in Fiumicino is founded and Marcello Fazioli launches the 40 Bronte model designed by Renato Sonny Levi and Franco Harrauer, two of the most innovative naval architects of the time specialized in fast deep Vee bottoms, who the lessons and innovations they introduced are still very much valid then as today.  Build of fiberglass the Alfamarine 40 Bronte is a huge success becoming the yard all time best seller with 146 units sold over its production run, and offered with two propulsion choices; Levi's Step surface drive and the standard line shaft, and available in three versions S for the open, Motoryacht for the flybridge, and the Fisherman with a lowered stern.  Alfamarine moves forward and after the success of the first model launches the bigger Alfamarine 60 Delta, and then the 16,50 Motoryacht.  A 35 is presented in 1985 the fourth and smallest ever produced model by Alfamarine, what is a chopped smaller 40 Bronte sport cruiser designed again by Franco Harrauer.  In the eighties Alfamarine competes with neighboring central and South Italian builders for making fast seaworthy large yachts; and Harrauer again designs the company first super yacht, the 83 Cronos a deep 25 degrees Vee deadrise hulled with a wide body upper structure design which will sell in six units.  The Cronos will reach 32 knots speeds with standard twin 1400hp engines, and will also be offered as the 83 Super Cronos with triple engines totalling 5000hp and Arneson surface drives project who in theory should have arrived up to fifty knots but unfortunately no unit sold with this power.  An Alfamarine 90 is later launched in 1993, what is an extended 83 Cronos with a totally re-invented more traditional not wide body upper structure.  After the 83 Cronos, Harrauer will design the Alfamarine 65 launched in 1991 and based on the 55 hull but with a triple Man 1000hp set up reaching speeds of sixty knots, 61.5 to be exact as recorded during its sea trials.  Always precise and technical in the details Alfamarine will launch other models over the years, the 55 in 1990 sees the yard go into a more conservative style and will sell in ten units.  Launched first as the 47 in 1991 and in 1995 becoming the 50 this model sees Alfamarine go into more modern nineties styling featuring a sloop stern design and later 1995 and newer versions also featuring an integrated windshield radar arch design and extended bathing platform.  The Alftamarine 50 will also embrace the Italian aft cabin sport cruiser yacht which was so popular in the eighty and nineties by many sport cruiser and yacht biulders of the shoe shaped peninsula.  The 50 is followed by the similar styled and smaller Alfamarine 43 designed by Fabio Buzzi and launched in 1994 and becoming the 47 in 1997, what is a model just as the 50 still offered in the production catalogue.  The Alfamarine 60 is launched in 1998 and is followed in 2002 with the 58, a modern version of the 1990 launched 55.  In 2003 Alfamarine launched the custom full displacement, steel construction and its largest build to date 140 triple deck to a design of Andrea Bacigalupo, who is then again used in the much admired 78 launched in 2004 and its smaller 72 sister in 2007.   Alfarmaine has won various prizes over the years with the most important being the Golden Keel awarded in 1985 for the 83 Cronos, and 2005 European Prize for the 78.  Today Alfamarine is managed by founder Marcello Fazioli and his son Andrea, and together apart offering a full refit service in Fiumicino offer seven build to order semi custom sport cruiser and yachts which start with the 47, and go up to the one off build 140.  Alfamarine latest model is the the hard-top updated 60 presented in 2009.  Alfamarine new website takes you around with the following buttons; Our Story, Building Site, Services, Achievements, and Contacts. Project: Azimut Grande 32 Metri

Avant-garde is the keyword that unlocks the meaning of the Grande 32 Metri project, which offers yet another demonstration of Azimut design creativity and will make its world debut at the Cannes boat show in early September 2018. The main aim of all avant-garde movements is to stand out from classical art. This same mission, interpreted as the desire to express an innovative vision that breaks away from the past, underpins the new Azimut Grande 32 Metri, with exteriors by Stefano Righini and interiors by Achille Salvagni. The Azimut Grande 32 Metri is forward thinking in every sense, not least because of the multiple unprecedented solutions that establish its right to a prominent position in the world of super yachts, or the advanced naval platform that is packed with technology and combines Carbon Tech with a D2P hull or, finally, the pure design excellence that characterizes Salvagni’s outstandingly distinctive work.  Stefano Righini has crafted powerful exterior lines, with stylistic features that sweep towards the stern and trick the eye in a way that hides the important interior volumes offered by the boat. The spacious stern beach club, the lateral garage that can house a five meter tender and a three meter jet ski, the huge full-height glazed surfaces on both sides of the full-beam owner’s suite, and the personality-building vertical bow are the distinctive features Righini has given to the Grande 32 Metri, making it absolutely unique in its category. Inside, the sense of sophisticated softness continues to permeate the constituent features, maintaining a family feeling with the other two Grande units designed by Salvagni the 27 and the 35 metri. His approach continues to eschew pure decoration and focuses instead on spatial composition: fluid surfaces detach from the walls to form an independent system, using spatial elements that flow seamlessly while nevertheless establishing distinct volumes. The settings are at one and the same time welcoming, simple and sophisticated, playing on the harmonious balance of detail and function. The walls embrace and expand, like a succession of negatives and positives that fix and extend space. Polished dark wood surfaces alternate with extensive areas and sections of ceiling featuring light-colored wood varieties: everything is in the contrast.  The night zone consists of five double cabins. The large owner’s cabin on the main deck is flooded with natural light, while the other four cabins are on the lower deck, two with twin beds and two with doubles.  The entire superstructure is built using Carbon Tech and epoxy resin: the combined effect of these materials and the Displacement2Planning hull with double-chine with a wave-piercing bow delivers maximum consumption efficiency levels at both slow cruising speed and higher speeds, extending the yacht’s range.  The Azimut Grande 32 Metri will be powered by twin 2200hp MTU units driving the yacht to a top speed of 26 knots.

New Model: Bertram 61

Since Bertram started the Gavio ownership in 2015 the company first two models have been about reinventing the classic icons of the flying eagle, which made it legendary over the years and decades which has passed since 1960.  The first model to launch from Gavio was the 35 which paid homage to the legendary 31 sold in over a thousand units and also the first Bertram model to be produced when it all started in 1960.  Fast forward to 2018 and Gavio's Bertram second new 61 model is again inspired to the second most important icon in the flying eagle portfolio of legends, the early eighties and till end nineties produced 54.  Designed as the new 2016 launched 35 by Micheal Peters the new Bertram 61 started life as a 58 project, then it became a 60, and ultimately a 61.  The 61 is not just a new badge inspired 54 though, we see Bertram and Micheal Peters bring new cruiser elements to the genre and something which might make the competition have a thought or two.  Hull one of the Bertram 61 features a full wrap around wind screen which give very nice views from the living saloon area, an element which entertainers will like but usually sport-fishermen are not to keen on due to the structural integrity this will give over time.  The Bertram 61 also challenges again the genre below deck, with three guest cabins three heads accommodation layout which includes a full beam midships located owners stateroom.  With the 61 Bertram have a winning model and I see it being very successful in the more entertainment less sport fishing market, for the hardcore sport-fisherman I think the road ahead is longer, but also possible thanks to the Micheal Peters designed hull shape which automatically rates it high in the performance department.  What the Bertram 61 brings is a new option to buyers and a breath of fresh design solutions in the eighteen meter flybridge sportfish yacht, see full wrap around windscreen, and full beam owners cabin.  The others do not have these, the Bertram 61 has.

Project: Cranchi E26 Classic

Getting closer to its 150th anniversary Cranchi present the project for the E26 Classic, a small cruiser roundabout designed by Christian Grande. The bow that characterizes the E26 Classic profile transmits from the first glance a sporty character of the boat. The lines of the boat and the helm position promise sportiness while the feeling on board is enhanced by the distinctive and unique style of this model. The references to tradition are very strong, such as the teak used on the bow deck which recalls the classic heritage of wooden boats and acts as a visual counterpoint to the aft deck also covered in teak. There is certainly no shortage of innovative and functional solutions. Comfort is assured starting from the large aft sundeck that covers the engine compartment in which the bimini can be placed which can guarantee shade to the cockpit if necessary. The center dinette is served by an L-shaped settee that gives continuity to the stern sundeck, and two pivoting seats that are directed forwards while navigating and can turn to stern when moored. The E26 Classic has a wraparound windscreen that offers protection to the pilot and co-pilot. At the center of the windshield there is an access to the fore-deck. Under the fore-deck there is a small cabin and a toilet compartment to assure a comfortable stay on board throughout the day and night. The Cranchi E26 Classic will be powered by three engine choices from a single Volvo 300hp diesel, to 280hp and or 350hp gasoline option. Cranchi will also offer an outboard bow rider version of the same model titled E26 Rider. Both models will be officially unveiled in September during the Cannes boat show.

New Model: Moonen 36m Martinque

Dutch yard Moonen launches the second model of the Caribbean series line with the 36-metre Martinque titled M/Y Brigadoon.   Moonen 36m Martinque follows the first Caribbean model the 29m Matica launched in 2016 and heralds an exciting new course as it takes a fresh approach to the signature Dutch builder aesthetic while leveraging on the yard’s history in terms of comfort and performance. Martinque was designed by René van der Velden for the exterior, with interior by Italian firm Nauta and naval architecture by Dutch Diana. As is the custom at Moonen, the owners have made her very much their own as they get ready to explore the world on a super yacht that can go anywhere thanks to its sophisticated and well-developed hull design.  Powered by twin Cats 1925hp Moonen 36m Martinique has a top speed of sixteen knots, she reached an extra knot to this in her first sea trials and at ten knots delivers a long range of 3900 nautical miles. Moonen 36m Martinique also features a remarkable amount of luxury space for her length thanks to a wide-body superstructure with the same beam as the hull. A good example of the benefits this offers is found in the large owners’ suite where having the windows directly on the outer range of the boat looking forward provides superb panoramic views.

Project: Arcadia 23.80 meters Sherpa XL

When the multiple award-winning Sherpa was launched in 2016, it immediately revolutionised the market. With Sherpa XL, the Italian Arcadia evolves the concept onto a larger scale, further enhancing some of the design elements typical of the range and introducing new ones at the same time. Arcdia Sherpa XL is a 78-foot yacht that can offer the comfort and space you would expect in larger yachts. Its engineering is now almost complete and the on spec construction of the first unit has already begun, ready for its international debut at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival.  Sherpa XL is 23.80 metres long, six metres longer than its entry-level cousin. With a beam wider than 6.9 metres - more than some 90-footers, this yacht offers an incredible 220 square metres of interior and exterior living space which equals 25% more than other yachts in the same class. More room and greater comfort give owners more opportunities to enjoy a full-immersion experience with friends and family. The innovative design of Sherpa XL was developed by the Milan-based Hot Lab design studio, with the aim of preserving the characteristic Arcadia DNA.   The large external areas, a distinguishing feature of the Arcadia fleet are expanded more than ever. The aft cockpit is directly connected to the control panel by a short scenic sequence of steps, which gracefully interlock between the narrow topsides and the low volume that supports the sundeck. Forward is a large living area with elegant sofas and even a table that can seat up to ten people.  The narrow bulwarks surrounding the entire cockpit have openings that allow guests to enjoy the view and the closeness of the sea. The entire area is made even more comfortable by the lack of any visible handling equipment for launching the tender, which is stored just forward of the engine room and is launched through a side hatch, without bothering the guests.  On the upper deck, the generous sun-lounge with bar and pantry facilities extends the open-air philosophy still further. Unlike traditional fly deck arrangements with an exterior helm station, this area is dedicated entirely to guests. Direct contact with the sea and the surrounding environment can also be found in the sky-lounge and the up and down windows allow guests to enjoy the sea breeze directly by simply touching a button.  The interior design is contemporary and essential. Owners can choose among many options in terms of materials and finishes. Arcadia also offers the option of choosing furniture designed by a careful selection of the best Made-in-Italy design brands.  Different Owners have different needs, so Sherpa XL was designed with a four or three cabin layout. In the former, the galley is positioned in the sky lounge on the bridge deck, whereas in the three-cabin version it is in the lower deck. In both cases, great attention has been given to ensuring an efficient yet discreet on board service, by separating crew service areas from the areas reserved for guests.  The master suite is over 22 square metres in size and extends into the bathroom, with no partitions or division, which provides the Owner with an almost home-like layout - large, open and full of light. The VIP cabin in the bow follows the same principle, successfully broadening spatial perception in an almost theatrical manner.  Sherpa XL also shines in terms of performance. Powered by twin Volvo 900hp main engines with IPS pod drives, the yacht can reach a top speed of approximately 22 knots. Preliminary studies also estimate that at a long range speed of 10-12 knots, the semi-displacement hull will be more than 30-35% more efficient than other yachts in its class. It has great autonomy at 12 knots, with a range of over one thousand nautical miles, which rise to over 1,500 if the speed is kept at 10 knots. To minimise environmental impact with renewable energy sources, the 23 meter Sherpa XL is equipped with Arcadia’s trademark solar panels, which provide up to 2kW of clean electricity (sufficient to power all the on board systems except for the air conditioning). Additionally, the yacht is fitted with low-consumption appliances and led lights.
