Azimut at Beriut Boat Show

Lebanon is one of the key market of the entire Middle East, which today represents for Azimut Yachts, about the 20% of total sales, with an increasing order portfolio for the coming season. Azimut Yachts, represented by Blue-Point Yachting, exclusive Dealer for Lebanon, will be present with a 250 “M2” Stand, having on display 7 yachts. The Azimut 43, 48, 53 and 70 masterpieces representing the Flybridge Collection and the 40S and for the Sport Collection. Azimut Yachts is also proud to announce the première of the Magellano Collection, the Magellano 50, on display for the first time in the Middle East. Azimut and Atlantis at Rio Boat Show

The Rio de Janeiro boat show strengthens the leadership of the Azimut Benetti group, which achieves a total of 29 boats sold under the Azimut Yachts and Atlantis brands. These figures confirm the leadership in a rapidly expanding market, and the far-sightedness of investing in a production that focuses exclusively on Brazil. Of the 16 Azimut Yachts and Atlantis models exhibited, the most successful were the new 48 Atlantis and the 43, the 53 and the 58 in the Azimut Flybridge Collection, the Azimut 88 in the superior category and the 103SL in the Sports Collection. The Azimut 103SL was the largest model exhibited at the Rio Boat Show. This success was also due to the Group's solid cooperation with the local dealer Yachts Brasil which, with its 22 sale outlets located around the coast of Brazil and in the main towns, today represents the most widespread dealer and support network in the area. As pointed out by Luca Morando, CEO of Azimut do Brasil, the Group also has reason to be proud of the appearance of the first Azimut 43 and Azimut 58 at the Rio Boat Show; these two models are produced in the new Azimut do Brasil facility in Santa Caterina and were both sold during the show.

Grand Banks Appoints New Production Director

Grand Banks Yachts today announced the appointment of Bruce Livingston as the company's new Production Director. The appointment marks his return to Grand Banks, where he originally served as Director and Plant Manager at its main factory in Johor, Malaysia, from 1996 to 2005. Livingston comes to Grand Banks from Vicem Yachts, where he served as Production Director for the Turkish boatbuilder. His career includes a long list of accomplishments and accolades, starting with his early role as Project Manager for Coddington Yachts in Rhode Island. He then moved on to a 14-year run with Little Harbor in Asia, where he launched and managed several operations for that company in Taiwan and Singapore, as well as in the United States. During that time Livingston oversaw more than 200 people and produced over a hundred custom and semi-custom sailboats, helping to build the company's strong reputation for quality. That eye for quality led him to a position in 1996 with Grand Banks Yachts, as Director and Plant Manager for the company's operations in Johor, Malaysia. For nearly a decade Livingston played a key role in establishing GB Malaysia as the primary production facility for the company, doubling production in his first three years and paving the way for the introduction of the larger, more sophisticated yachts Grand Banks builds today.

ISA Wins Super Yacht Award

The World Superyacht Award, dubbed the "Oscars" of the superyacht world, awards the best super yachts launched in 2010 for their 360 degree high-quality standards. This year glittering edition was held in the magnificent Guihall in London last May 7th, 2011. ISA 60.5 Mary-Jean II was chosen by the eminent jury, composed by super yacht owners and renowned specialists in the sectors, in one of the most competitive category where 9 excellent motor yachts were shortlisted. Of course, a further reasons of great satisfaction for ISA was having its two latest superyacht shortlisted for such an significant award, even though it was a shame having them in the same category. ISA went on stage to collect the award with YPI, of course, with which the Mary-Jean II is listed for charter, and Mark Berryman, the interior designer. Mary-Jean II, designed by ISA's in-house naval architects together with Mark Berryman signing the interior project, is a very elegant and eye-catching steel-aluminium custom motoryacht. Launched last Summer, she immediately attracted the insiders'attention for her top-quality standards at the Monaco yacht Show where she was displayed. Another confirmatory aspect was the large press coverage that she produced... thus meaning that success was already in her DNA. Winning the prestigious "Neptune" statue means fulfilling a dream for ISA, which has been seriously working for ten years trying to give its customers the best possible products and apparently it worked.

Improve-it = Absolute 70

For 2011 Absolute has established important updates on its 2008 launched flagship 70 model.  These new updates to the Absolute 70 improve both the technical and accommodation areas.  The Absolute 70 model year 2011 as presented in the fall of 2010 will in fact offer the following six improving updates.  A wider garage that can accommodate a larger tender.  Renewed helm pilot seats replaced with new models that are more ergonomic made by dark skin and supported by elegant columns with electric movement.  The entertainment area television is to  be supported by an elegant cabinet that houses the audio-video equipment.  Layout of the central bathroom, combined with the cabin of two single beds, has been revised to make this toilet wider and more refined.  On the last change which is certainly the most important for the 70 of the 2011 year is that it will be available with a twin engines IPS propulsion choice, along the known quadruple 435hp.  The 70 in fact is to be equipped with the new third generation Volvo IPS propulsion 1200 series with D13 900hp engines.  This option will surely make the Absolute 70 more popular but also delivers an important increase in performance which now gives a 33 knots max, and a cruise of 27, versus the 31 and 25 knots as offered by four by IPS600 units.

New Model: Majesty 70

Building on the success of its flybridge cruisers and yachts, United Arab Emirates based Majesty Yachts, part of the Gulf Craft Group launched the 70 at this year’s Dubai International Boat show. The new flybridge motor yacht model aims to fill the gap between the Majesty 63 and 77, delivering luxury for up to eight guests in four separate cabins. The panoramic side window which is a single profile design similar to what Ferretti premiered with the 630 in 2005 creates the impression you are out on the water while seated in the spacious saloon. This results in a yacht design with an exclusive presence and striking profile. The Majesty 70 will also offer ample space for toys on the fly-bridge or on the optional hydraulic swim platform.  Inside the Majesty 70 will offer a split level saloon, dining area, open plan C-shaped galley, L-shaped wet bar, galley, helm and C-shaped dinette to fore.   Down below is four double guest cabins all with private en-suite heads.  The owners stateroom is a full beam affair with separate shower head, and walk in wardrobe.  A crew lobby with a cabin sleeping two and a second C-shaped galley is located below.  Power is from standard Cats 1015hp or optional MAN 1200hp engines.  Speed figures are not yet announced.

Project: Lazzara LMY85

Lazzara presents the LMY85, what will be a replacement model of the LMY85 SS.  As recent Lazzara the LMY85 continues the European influenced design both outside and inside with an American feel to the overall concept of the yacht.  The LMY85 will offer an interesting interior plan with a four cabins layout, with one of the guest cabins located aft.  A crew quarters offering a captains double berth, and two bunk beds with heads is to be located forwards.  The owners cabin as the large windows suggest is to be located to mid ship.  There is also a separate stair case for the owners stateroom and the two double guest cabins located to mid ship.  The main deck will also feature a day head, and as US tradition says there is an option of a with or without lower helm choice.  Power will be from twin Cats 1900hp engines with Lazzara promising a 37 knots top speed.  So far propulsion details are not announced but this top end speed does suggest to me a different to the usual tried and tested traditional line shaft.

INBUILD ~ Galeon 780 Crystal Part 8 of 9

More time passes and with each new installment of the Inbuild section, Galeon new flagship the 780 Crystal starts more to take the shape of a luxury yacht.  This part eight before the last Inbuild article of the 780 Crystal shows again more interior construction process of the Tony Castro designed Galeon flagship.  Pictured above is in fact the main interior deck of the 780 Crystal, what will be and is in major flybridge motor yachts of this size the living area where daily activities take part. That furniture to the left will be indeed the galley of the 780 Crystal, situated in the middle of the main deck, which will be divided in three technical parts.  These being helm forward, galley and dining in the middle, and saloon entertainment upon entrance.  The 780 Crystal will also offer unique details for its size as a day head on the entrance to inside, an astern wet bar, and fully opening saloon to deck patio door.  For a motor yacht just measuring just over 24 meters the Galeon 780 Crystal is unique in these details.

Project: Silverton SX 350

Silverton SX 350 is the third project of the new 350 Series we are showing you on PowerYacht.  As is the case for the other two flybridge motor cruiser, the sportier SX 350 uses the same hull as the other SS and CX versions.  Silverton calls the 350 Series a very versatile project, and the sport cruiser SX 350 is surely the most European looking of the three projects so far shown.  The 350 also sports an integrated wind screen with radar arch and hard top.  The integrated windshield radar arch combination is something common in European designs of this size since the mid nineties.  Would be glad to tell you more about this and the other Silverton 350 series models but so far te US builder is very quiet, so we have to wait for launch date coming February 2012.

New Model: Nordhavn 63

The new Nordhavn 63 is yet another iteration of the proven hull form of the 55 model. Due to its performance and interior layout capabilities, the 55 has fast become one of the most popular, and one of the most tested Nordhavn models, of which both the the 60 and this new 63 derive from.  The new 63 is actually an aft wheelhouse version of the 60 and its extended cockpit and boat deck. Looks-wise, however, the new model retains the same salty feel that popularized the Nordhavn 62. For those who love the 62 but have a width restriction at their slip, the Nordhavn 63 may be the perfect choice with its reduced beam compared to the old model. One of P.A.E.’s greatest qualities is the ability of Chief of Design, Jeff Leishman, and his engineering staff to continually conceive, design and introduce exciting new models.  While the 63 shares the same hull as the 55/60 designs, an entire new deck and engine room mold have been created for it, providing increased interior volume and added amenities.  This gives for example a fixed crew cabin in replacement of an utility room on the smaller models, and a certerline guest stateroom with four large view portholes.  The new Nordhavn 63 is powered by John Deere 330hp with a projected range of 3,000 nautical miles.
Technical Data:
LOA - 19.95 m (62.6ft)
Waterline Length - 17.45 m
Beam - 5.49 m
Draft - 2.03 m
Displacement - 64.86 t
Fuel Capacity - 9463 l
Water Capacity - 2271 l
Accommodation - 6 guest berths, 2 crew
Engine - 1 x John Deere 6081AFM 330hp
Propulsion - line shaft with five bladed propeller
Range - 3000 nm estimate
Construction - hull laminated with vinilester resins, White Ferro super shield Gel Coat and Arocoat non skid, Klegcell R75 Foam core above waterline

Elan presents the project for a Power 30 model.  This new addition to the Elan motor boat range will be the entry level of its now well established Power line up, which currently features three models from 35 up to 48 feet.  As all the other models the 30 Power is to be designed by renowned British architect Tony Castro.  The 30 will measure an over all length of close to 33 feet, with a beam of over eleven feet, that is without the extended bathing platform option.  This size is representative to the spacious accommodation of the boat which features two separate cabins, a saloon and galley.  On the plans the interior of the Elan 30 Power looks to offer nearly the space as the larger 35 model, taking advantage of modern latest generation smaller diesel engines.  Various options are also to be available on the Elan 30 Power from an extended bathing platform, fiberglass or canvas hard top, different hull color choices, and stern drive joystick.  Engines will be Volvo twin diesel from 170 up to 220hp, or a single 370hp choices.

New Model: Beneteau 32 Antares

Beneteau launches its seventh model of the Antares inboard engines line up, the 32 flybridge model.  Sitting the middle of the range the 32 Antares is again a design of Beneteau Power Boats, and Sarazin and is based on the hull lines of the 30 model with the main difference being a twin engine choice.  For this not so big cruiser the Beneteau design team was inspired by the looks of the larger Antares models.  Inside the 32 Antares offers two cabins with a main deck having a galley, saloon which transforms to an additional double berth, and lower helm.  The owners room is located to fore, and a two berth with bunks guest cabin is located to port side.  Power is from twin 200hp diesel engines with shafts, this being also a major difference from the 30 Antares model on which the 32 is based.  On this hull form Beneteau has been clever to release three different models; 30, 30S, and 32 Antares all suiting to different client needs.

New Model: Mustang 32

Mustang first new model the 32 has been much expected since the company was taken over by boat builder Bill Barry-Cotter more or less about a year ago.  Bill Barry-Cotter is today owner of Maritimo and founded Riviera about three decades ago. The 32 brings many of the style of the recently introduced Maritimo sports cruiser series in a smaller package.  From the photos on the web site I say that the Mustang 32 feels much more to its size, from a three side enclosed cockpit and spacious aft deck entertaining area.  This last features a large L-shape lounge that runs along the port side and curves around the transom, a dinette table can convert this lounge into a great day bed, forward helm on the starboard side with companion seats, and a well equipped galley opposite to port side.  A companionway leads to the accommodation of a master cabin forward with an island double bed and hanging lockers. A second two bunk berths cabin is on the starboard side and the bathroom is to port.  May be the only disappointment for the new Mustang model is for a standard single 380hp gas Mercruiser engine, which decreases the cruising capability of this intersting entry level sport cruiser.  So far the optional engine choices have not been announced, but surely would be good even on a global market perspective to have twin engines petrol gas or diesel fuel choice.

Projects: Menorquin E56 Hardtop, Menorquin E56 Flybridge

After presenting the project of Menorquin's E43 model, the Spanish island boat builder showcases the larger E56 project of its new enviromently friendly range which is set to launch next year 2012.  The Efficient Line from Menorquin is the answer to more green Eco boating, and if the E43 showed this, the E56 displays it even more with hybrid power also being one of the optional power choices.  Apart having new underwater shapes set to deliver better speeds with less power both the Efficient Line models will aim for superior RINA Green Star environment certification. As the E43, the E56 is available in Hardtop and Flybridge versions and is to be powered by pods.  But different to the smaller soon to launch E43 model is that it will use the aft looking dual propeller ZF instead of the Volvo IPS. Huge spaces are to be found in all areas of the E56 and the theme continues as shown outside of a modern classic style.  Impressive is the large aft deck with two settees to a two interior choice of three double cabins, and a crew. The major difference in the choice is that on the optional version the galley moves down, reserving the main saloon for lounging activities, and for this you loose a third guest head. The above picture version is the hardtop which offers more streamlined sport lines, but loosing the second helm and the additional space a fly deck gives.
The E56 Flybridge adds a fly deck second helm in replacement to the hardtop.  I suppose the E56 Flybridge will be more popular then the Hardtop model. Being very extended and add spacious, the flybridge deck presents an extra area of relaxation featuring a helm to port side, C-shape settee with table to starboard, and a wet bar behind this.  The flybridge of the E56 on these plans seems to be about double the size to that of the current in production largest Menorquin C180.  Menorquin has decided to leave the aft fly deck area free, which can be a space to fill with chaise loungers or where to put an extra tender or PWC.  Power for the Menorquin E56 Flybridge is for engines up to twin 480hp which should give a cruise speeds of up to 15 knots.

New Model: Cantiere Delle Marche 86 Darwin

Cantiere Delle Marche launched hull one of the 86 Darwin, the first in a series of explorer type 24 meters plus in size super yacht.  The 86 Darwin was designed by Sergio Cutolo for the external lines and all the engineering, while architects Floris and Veglia are responsible for the interiors. For the external lines Sergio Cutolo as his experience in explorer type yachts suggests puts strong references to the proportions and style of work boats, with a soft but "masculine" draft where the use of sharp edges are almost abandoned. With a length of 26 meters overall and a beam of over seven meters the 86 Darwin has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure and is characterized by internal volumes typical of larger boats.  She has over 350 squared meters of internal and external surfaces available in three decks for eight guests in four cabins. From a technical standpoint, the hull has been developed and optimized in order to ensure the achievement of high speed, relatively to the type of boat, without penalizing the performance at low speeds at which the maximum value of autonomy is realized. With two 384hp Cat engines the 86 Darwin can reach a top speed of 11 knots, and a cruise of ten can give a 7000 nautical miles range.  The Cantiere delle Marche is currently building a second 86 Darwin, which will be delivered before the end of the year and there are advanced negotiations for future boats.

Project: Sessa 45 Fly

Sessa present the project for the 45 Fly, set to be presented in the fall of this year.  This model when launched will represent Sessa second flybridge model following the 54 Fly presented almost two years ago, and the seventh boat to be powered by IPS.  The 45 Fly will also offer four variations to its theme able to suite global customer needs. As has been done by Sessa in recent years designer Christian Grande and the Sessa team explore modern ideas both outside and inside.  I like how the 45 Fly looks outside with a sleek sporty line compared to other similar sized flybridge cruisers with some unedited design touches.  Here I am obviously speaking for the stern, with two uprights reminiscent of super yacht architecture forming a big window creating an openwork shade to provide shelter from the cold and from curious eyes, so that it is possible to dine outside without attracting unwanted attention.  The Sessa will also offer a very spacious lower deck about seventeen squared meters with a three double cabins, and two private shower heads layout.  But all areas of the 45 Fly seems to be spacious form the living main deck, to the flybridge this offering seating space for up to ten people, plus a sun pad, and a fully equipped wet bar dinette.  Power is from Volvo 435hp engines with IPS600 pod propulsion.

New Model: Nimbus 31 Nova S HT

Nimbus unveiled the new 31 Nova S HT at the Göteborg Boat Show. The boat is a hardtop version of the fall 2010 launched 31 Nova S. The hardtop version is aimed primarily at boating people wanting to prolong the season or who prefer to ride in well-sheltered comfort irrespective of the time of year. On sunny days the large canvas roof rolls back easily. In addition to the characteristic sidewalks, the boat features a large afterdeck that lies flush with the bathing platform. This enhances freedom of movement aboard and simplifies loading up. Like the standard 31 Nova S the HT is also a further development of the popular 30 Nova S, which has topped the Nimbus sales charts in recent years. The new Nimbus 31 Nova has, unlike its predecessor, a generously proportioned L-sofa and table fitted to the afterdeck and which can quickly be transformed into a large sun bed. Another new feature is the new and innovative fender stowage at the transom. The focus has been on providing more socialising space and features for family and friends. Now fitted with a roof, the boat is still more suitable for year-round use.  Power is from single stern drive Volvo engines from 260 up to 330hp.

Project: Absolute 40 Fly

Absolute presents its 40 Fly project, what will be the third model in the new flybridge range from the Italian builder.  This project set to launch for the fall of this year follows on the exterior design schemes as present by the other two; 43 and 50 Fly models launched in the end of 2010.  As is usual to Absolute the 40 Fly is a modern looking flybridge cruiser with large view windows featured both in the main and lower cabin decks.  The 40 Fly offers a two cabin layout accommodation with what looks on plan rather spacious for this size personal shower heads.  Owners stateroom is to be located to fore, and the guest cabin with two single berths which can transform to a double is to mid ship using full beam and in a layout usually found on a sport cruiser of this size.  Between the two cabins is to be found the L-shaped galley.  The flybridge is a spacious place of the 40 Fly, and has a sunbathing area in the forward part, and settee which can seat six people.  Interesting is also the six door part patio door which joins easily the external aft deck with the internal saloon.  Power will be from Volvo engines with a choice of stern drive or IPS pods.  Interesting statistic for the 40 Fly is that it is the tenth out of eleven models in the Absolute fleet which will use the Volvo IPS propulsion. Since 2006 Absolute has shown huge following to Volvo's IPS pod propulsion being the major production builder in model terms using it.

New Model: Wider 42

Could we have expected anything less from the founder of Pershing in what is today among the leading brands World wide in the medium Sport Yacht sizes.  This is in synthesis what I think of the revolution that comes from Wider, the new company of Tilli Antonelli which he founded in 2010 and a year later to this launches its innovative first 42 model.  The Wider 42 is many things in one but most of all it is a sport cruiser with super unthinkable day enjoying ability.  Saying it is a revolution is spot on but even this does not synthesize the Wider 42; from its expandable medium deck space, to its Private water craft carrying capability, and a host of innovative features on the electronics front.  Some spaces and capabilities of the Wider 42 are unthinkable for boats even ten feet or more larger, but this is where transformation and geniality come to place. Wider 42 also offers overnight accommodation for two persons in a cabin with shower head located below to fore.  Performance is another achievement of the Wider 42 having fast performance even with standard Yanmar 370hp engines which give a 44 knots max speed.  More to this and a 53 knots top end is given by Cummins 480hp optional choice.  The Wider is everything high technology and modern one could imagine and for this the company already received six orders on paper for the new model, which in today market is something very rare if not impossible.  Now the Wider concept moves on and after this model a 35 with a similar concept to the 42 should follow, and a 50 offering more in the cabin area.  About the last I am very intrigued!

Project: Marquis 420 Sport Bridge

Marquis presents the project for the 420 Sport Bridge the newest addition to its continually expanding line. Designed as all recent Marquis by the noted firm of Nuvolari-Lenard Naval Architects of Venice, Italy, the new 420 is a highly styled, premium flybridge motor cruiser that features a sleek, spacious and comfortable bridge.  As was the case for the first Marquis Sport Bridge the 500, the 420 is based on the lines of the successful 420 Sport Coupe model, adding the sport lines with a sleek flybridge featuring a second helm. The flybridge of the 420 Sport Bridge features amenities for people who love to operate their yacht surrounded by sunshine and sea breeze and it complements the open concept of the yacht's galley, salon, cockpit and swim platform. If open spaces, fresh air and sunshine are at the top of your list, the Marquis 420 Sport Bridge was designed with this in mind.  The flybridge features an L-shaped settee and helm station with pilot and co-pilot seat. Connection to this area is from the aft deck via an integrated staircase to port side. The decor continues Marquis stylish and contemporary finishing constructed from the finest wood and yacht building materials available. The 420 Sport Bridge bulkheads and cabinets can be constructed from a variety of hardwoods and decor can be chosen to reflect an owner's personal taste and style.  The 420 Sport Bridge reflects contemporary modern yacht design and construction, even in the hull form this being specifically designed to maximize the benefits of twin pod drives, this allowing for known characteristics of easy manoeuvring and fuel efficiency. The 420 Sport Bridge is the fourth model in the Marquis fleet to be powered by Volvo IPS pods. Three twin Volvo Penta diesel or gas petrol engines choices are available from 370 up to 435hp each.

INBUILD ~ Galeon 780 Crystal Part 7 of 9

The construction process of Galeon 780 Crystal hull number one continues, and for today we are showing you glimpse of the interior.  Or to be more precise those of an unfinished main deck.  As in all production boat building processes hull one always represents the study of the plans and how these can it actual fact work in reality. For example that stairs which leads to the starboard is a temporarily kit which will be replaced by a moulded staircase as is fashion in this size of yacht.  Behind the stairs inside will be a day head, which is on facts very hard to find on boats under ninety feet, and nearly impossible to those not making the eight foot mark.  On the other side to port will also be a bar with two stools.  Galeon and designer Tony Castro where very clever in making the aft part of the interior saloon practical, and serving the exterior.  If the day head on the main deck is unusual under ninety feet this is usually found in yachts of over thirty meters i.e. one hundred feet. The saloon inside will be a three part split area; lounging, galley with dining for eight, and helm station at the foremost part.  Seeing like this make you think of an empty building, but come launching day this will be one of the most exquisite areas of the yachts filled with luxury living.

Projects: Benetti Sail Division 131 WT, Benetti Sail Division 100 WT, Benetti Sail Division 80 WT

Benetti Sail Division continues to expand its line of Super Yacht by including new interesting range, and as the Logica designed by Luca Brenta here it presents the World Traveller range by architect P.B. Behage.  This range will feature a hybrid design feel of a tug towing boat with those of a Mediterranean yacht.  Four models all designed by architect Behage make of the World Traveller range of which the 115 RPH WT has already been launched.  Pictured above is the largest of the World Traveller range projects the 131. A two and half deck with a raised pilot house make the exterior of the 131 WT which will feature a six or five cabin layout with the owners room located on the main deck.  An incredible size flybridge is another feature, and this has been achieved thanks to the location of the tenders, and PWC on the fore deck.  Crew accommodation is for seven or eight persons.  Power is from twin 1000hp Cat engines giving top speeds of 14 knots, a cruise of 13, and an economic 5300 nautical miles long range 10 knots.
Benetti Sail Division 100 World Traveller is the second in size of this very interesting line of super yachts.  For the 100 WT designer Behage presented a two deck super yacht with a split level two steps separate flybridge.  A four cabins for guest interior sleeping eight or ten is located on the fore part of the lower deck.  The owners room is located to mid ship, and features an office, breakfast table, and walk in ward robe.  Crew quarters are located to aft, and apart sleeping five or four persons offers a lobby with small galley. Power is from twin 596hp Cat engines which reach a top speed of 13 knots, a cruise of 12, and a 4300 nautical miles at 10 knots long range.
The 80 World Traveller represents an important project for Benetti Sail Division as it is also its current entry level smallest model of the fleet.  The 80 which is regarded as a pocket sized super yachts offers a similar plan to the 100 with everything being smaller. Guest accommodation is for eight or ten in four double cabins.  Unusually and this being the main difference from the 100 in the owners stateroom located to fore, showing a hull very much dedicated to seamanship more then to inner space.  Crew quarters are located to aft, having a small galley and two rooms sleeping two or three.  Power is from twin 450hp MAN engines which give an 11 knots top speed, and cruise economic 10 knots.

New Model: Heesen 55m YN 14955

Heesen Yachts has launched the first yacht in its 55 metre semi-displacement series at the shipyard in Oss, The Netherlands on Friday, 11th March 2011.  Project managed by Nakhimov, YN 14955 is the largest and one of the most powerful Heesen yachts to date, and has been named by its owner as Quinta Essentia, translated to English as fifth essence. Powered by a pair of 5764hp MTU YN 14955 reaches top speeds of 24 knots, and has a long range of 4500 nautical miles at 12 knots before needing to refuel 125000 liters of fuel. In consultation with Van Oossanen Associates, Heesen’s in-house naval architects have created a sophisticated and highly efficient hard-chine hull, while Frank Laupman from Omega Architects drew the sleek and elegant exterior lines. With her pelican beak bow and reverse sheer, Quinta Essentia clearly shows her Heesen pedigree. The owners, in collaboration with Dobroserdov Design, personally worked on the colour scheme, which features a combination of a custom metallic dark red Awlgrip paint that is combined with oyster white. The inspiration for the dark red tone is taken from Montemaggio Merlot and reflects one of the owner’s passions for fine Tuscan wines. The same colour scheme is repeated on the limousine tender, designed by Vripack and custom built in New Zealand by Vaudrey Miller. The discreet luxury of Quinta Essentia’s interior was conceived by interior designer Ken Freivokh and further developed by Michela Reverberi, who was responsible for the detailing and interior decoration. Quinta Essentia’s design offers some notably luxurious features, such as the largest owners’ stateroom seen on any of Heesen’s yachts, which has been a personal input of the owner. In size it is comparable to those found on yachts of eighty metres, while she is also the first in the Heesen fleet to sport a tender bay that can be flooded to allow easy launching and recovery of the tenders, and a swimming pool on the main deck that is filled by a waterfall. The gym and spa facilities, including a steam room and a massage room, play a key role on the sun deck.  Heesen 55.0 meter M/Y Quinta Essentia will be delivered to her owners towards the end of May, following intensive sea trials in the North Sea.

New Model: Vismara MY68 Navetta

Vismara presents the MY68 Navetta a functional hybrid yacht which unites sport looks with those of a small ship idle for long navigation.  The MY68 Navetta is the fourth motor yacht from Vismara, and is also second in size to what regards fuel engined boats from the Italian build being only smaller to the Fabio Buzzi designed 80 Record.  As the Vismara sailing the MY68 Navetta features a clean modern design which looks very safe and offers performance of the highest level, even in moderate seas.  For the construction Vismara Motoryachts Line follows the pattern used in its sailing yachts representing the application of high technology and scientific design approach, but this time, applied to motor boats. In particular, the advantages of this approach are those of being able to design sea keeping dedicated hulls, which can go on the plane lower speeds and with smaller engines, thanks to their lower construction weight. The only twin 800hp MAN engines and a top speed of 33 knots confirm the careful study put by Vismara in the custom MY68 Navetta.  A similar sized sport yacht will use more or less 30% more of power to achieve the same speeds.  Inside the owner decided for a light colored wood interior and here without sacrificing anything for what regards accommodation the MY68 Navetta offers a three double guest cabin interior with owners suite to fore, and to aft is two crew cabins sleeping three.  All the living area is located on the main deck with a galley located astern, L-shaped settee, and central helm station.  Vismara has currently three other motor boats in construction which start from 66 and go up to a super 115 feet.

Projects: Silverton SS 350, Silverton CX 350

Silverton presents renderings for its new 350 Series range which is set to debut in the coming February 2012 Miami boat show.  This range will feature three distinct models all using the same hull, with two being flybridge motor cruiser versions of which we are showing you renderings here.  Pictured above is the 350 SS the more sports of the flybridge models, thanks to more streamlined aft looking radar arch versus the CX model.  But this model is from these initial renderings as shown at the Silverton website nearly identical to the other CX flybridge version.  Large view windows suggest a larger to the usual cabin to be available to mid ship, and stern drive or pods propulsion to be the choice.  Although so far we have no confirmation about these tips I am giving, and this is just my guessing!
The Silverton 350 CX is the other flybridge motor cruiser of this new very European orientated designed series from this US builder.  A more upright radar arch does suggest the 350 CX to have a more comfortable fly deck.  But this is again my idea.  In a matter of days PowerYacht will also show the sleeker 350 SX sport cruser model of this new series.  Hoping in that time that more information will be available on the new Silverton model.

New Model: Tiara 3100 Coronet

Tiara continues its long standing entry level Coronet range by presenting the new 3100.  This new Tiara Coronet replaces the 2900 model and features the good looks, and quality as associated from this US boat builder. The signature wrap around wind shield a feature of many other Tiara models, optional hard top, radar arch, and various hull color choices are what distincts this model as a luxury sport cruiser.  Measuring overall in European standards over 36 feet, with quite a wide beam of over twelve feet the 3100 Coronet is bigger to what its model designation says.  This size translates into a large single level cockpit, which features a total of six settees including the helm, of which three are of L-shape form.  Behind the helm located to starboard is also an entertainment center with grill, washbasin, drawers, and jack for a TV. Inside is a large single cabin with separate shower head, and L-shaped drawer with wash basin.  Power is from twin Crusaders petrol gas engines of 375hp with line shaft propulsion which deliver a top speed of 34 knots.  So far no other engine options are being advised, but a diesel choice with its better economy will make the 3100 Coronet surely more popular.

As has been in various traditional down East lobster yachts over fifty feet, Toy presents the project for a flybridge version of the 51 model.  The Toy 51 Fly designed by Nauta should follow the lines of the standard model, but gets added with a second helm station, and lounging area up top.  Access to the flybridge will be from a ladder to port side.  The flybridge layout is for a central helm, L-shaped settee to starboard, and an aileron radar arch located centrally.  Inside a layout as that of the 51 should follow with a garage for a tender aft, and an interior living having a galley, and saloon on the main deck.  The lower deck is a two cabins layout, with owner room to fore, and a double guest to starboard.  Both rooms have spacious shower heads.  A one person crew cabin to port, and an utility room to starboard are located to mid ship. A further option also exists to have the owners room with a two singles berths instead of the queen double.  Standard power of the Toy 51 is for twin Cummins 715hp which give a very good 34 knots top speed.

New Model: Ferretti 720

Ferretti Yachts presented the new 720 in the town of Rapallo late past April month. This innovative model was developed by the today tried and tested working relationship between Studio Zuccon International Project, the Ferretti AYT, and the Centro Stile.  This new model should replace the 700, a very succesful Ferretti in production since 1998 with various names each representing a small development as 681, 680 and 68.  The Ferretti team from company owner Norberto to designer Gianni Zuccon all say the 720 represents the continuation of what has been shown in the 800 launched also about a year ago, with large view windows and an interior with light colored grey oak wood showing the latest trends from the World famous North West side of the Adriatic sea based yacht builder.  As is standard in this size the 720 is a four stateroom motor yacht with a master room located to midship, VIP suite to fore, and two double cabins in between.  All cabins have private en-suite heads, and the VIP room also has a seperate shower room.  A crew cabin sleeping two or three and also having an utility room and direct access to the engine room is located aft.  The main deck is a split level area wih saloon upon entrance, dining table for eight, seperate galley to port side, small dinette to starboard, and an impressive central seat helm station. An intelligent solution in the main deck is a sliding door which can separate the guests saloon and dining area with the working part of helm and galley. The flybridge follows the usual Ferretti style of layout with a helm to starboard and C-shaped dinette.  The fore deck also follows tradition with a sunbed layout. No settee or dinette as are the latest trends. Power is from twin MTU 1381hp standard, or optional 1524hp.  The optional choice should give about 33 knots top speed.  The 720 also features ZF SteerCommand as standard, with Joystick Manovring System.

Projects: Vicem 46 M Vulcan Tri-Deck, Vicem 35 M Vulcan Tri-Deck, Vicem 32 M Vulcan RPH

Vulcan presents the Vulcan Line a three model range which continues to establish the Turkish builder into the the Super Yacht world, of 24 plus meters in size.  The new series is thrillingly represented by the 46 M Tri-Decl, 35 M Tri-Deck, and 32 M RPH.  All the three models come from the design tables of renowned Dutch Naval Architect Frank Mulder and the award-winning firms of Art-Line Interiors, Wetzels Brown Partners and Ken Freivokh. Pictured above is the 46M which is built in a state-of-the-art facility in Antalya, Turkey. The 46 M is to be built in composite materials, applied with resin infusion and sandwich techniques, here chosen to achieve the best in strength-to-weight ratios.  The result: a 200 ton yacht, powered by twin 3650hp MTU engines, that delivers 25 knots top speed and efficient ocean crossing range at reduced econmic cruise. Her three decks plus Sundeck design provides outstanding elegance for a knowledgeable owner, and five cabins for the guests.  A signature design of the 46 M Vulcan Tri-Deck is the open Atrium which provides 45 feet of unbroken natural lighting, from the very top of the Sundeck all the way down to the lower deck. The main deck’s master suite uses every inch of this yachts thirty foot beam, and includes a CEO’s office and a private gymnasium. A graceful wraparound entry way leads to an inviting Jacuzzi and an arcing full-width head. Far aft is the galley, a dining area for ten, relaxing lounge, and a spacious upper lounge area.
The Vicem 35 M Vulcan Tri-Deck is a super yacht with a five stateroom layout, two of which are full beam layout.  There is a captain’s cabin on the main deck and two double crew cabins with a lounge and galley in the crew quarters. The double bed captain’s cabin is behind the wheelhouse on the third deck. The tender is hidden in the foredeck and there is additional garage storage aft, with a fold-down beach club. Designed outside by Frank Mulder this is a very sleek yacht for its length with no tenders visible.  The 35 M Vulcan Tri-deck is under construction in Vicem’s new facility in Tuzla, Turkey.  A more sleek 35 M Vulcan RPH should be available in the near future.  Watch this space for renderings.
The Vicem 32 M Vulcan RPH is a five stateroom epoxy with Corecell constructed to a Frank Mulder design super yacht. Frank Mulder has designed a totally unique yacht with easy access to the foredeck from the deck on the port side with the main deck on the starboard side, creating a full beam, on-deck master stateroom. In addition to five guest staterooms, the yacht has two crew cabins with en suite heads which has access from the galley. The main tender is on the flybridge deck, and there is space for two wave runners in a transom garage.  Power is from twin 1900hp Cat engines with top speed estimates of 23 knots.
