
Italian Rome boat builder Tornado presents it's new website coinciding with ownership change as from 2007. Second owners in Tornado's forty years plus of history, the new management takes over the thirty nine years of ownership from founder Carlo Marchiolo. Marchiolo started Tornado in 1968 building his 35 feet powerboat inspired to the US Cigarette's design. This boat will take him to a Class 3 title just a few months later in 1969, and is followed with more Tornado wins in the seventies, of which the most significant is the Wills Trophy with Italian driver Vincenzo Balestrieri on the helm. The success on the race circuits makes Tornado produce boats for those desiring good sea handling, high performance, and comfort combined with a classic no frills lines. In 1977 during the Genoa boat show Marchiolo meets with renowned designer Tom Fexas, to whom Tornado commissions six new projects. The US designer works for Tornado are a 35 for the racing circuits, 36 Hawk, 39 Hawk, Eleven, 44 Express, and the 45. The nineties are followed by more winning success for Tornado, with famous offshore driver Adrianno Panatta taking the 1991 Venezia Monte Carlo with the 38, and again in 1997 with a 45. In 2007 after competition from various bank institutions, and three months of negotiations Michele Prestipino takes over Tornado. The ownership change according to a Tornado boat owner is a natural evolution to the brand and its over four hundred delivered boats. Today's current Tornado line up has five models: 38 Flush Deck, 38 Sport, 38 Cruising, 45 Sport, and 50. The new Tornado virtual online showroom follows the new ownership desire to add major brand recognition to what is one of the most filled curriculum's in the industry, and is available in Italian and soon to be English language.
